Volume 6, Chapter 36 – Tianyin’s Battle Plan (Part 2)
“Quiet? Just being quiet is strange?”
Everyone knew that demons from Inferno could not be trusted. Demons were treacherous by nature, and there was no such thing as order in Inferno, so the Minotaur generals present were not very willing to trust Bagh’s words.
Even if these Minotaur generals were all a bunch of big, muscle-headed oafs, they still understood the basic idea that demons were untrustworthy.
Besides, that demon had just mocked them to their faces.
“Bagh, you’re just trying to stir up trouble.”
“Stir up trouble? Are all of you pig-brained? Oh, right, I forgot, your heads are bovine to begin with. There’s not much difference between cows and pigs anyway.”
Bagh, his whole body wrapped in flame, let out a disdainful cold laugh.
“Why is the forest up ahead so quiet? Even though I spend all my time in the Abyss, I still know that in the forests of the Main World there are countless low-level creatures living there. Normally, there’s no way a forest like that would be this quiet. You should at least hear birds calling or insects chirping, right?”
Bagh might have looked down on the Minotaur generals’ intelligence, but once he had noticed something off about the forest, he was not going to hide it and keep silent.
Of course, that did not mean Bagh had suddenly become kind-hearted as a demon. It was because once he sensed the forest’s abnormality, other thoughts had already begun to form in his mind.
“Hmm… now that you mention it, there really is something like that…”
Hearing Bagh’s words, the Minotaur generals all turned their attention toward the distant forest. After observing for a while, the relaxed expression on the leading Minotaur general’s face grew grave.
“It is strange… could there be ambushers in that forest?”
The Minotaur generals might be stupid, but they were still generals, so they at least understood basic concepts like “ambushers.”
“Heh, looks like you’re not that stupid after all. That’s right, most likely there are ambushers.”

“Then what do we do?”
Even though they had realized there were ambushers, with the limited brains of Minotaurs, they could not come up with a good countermeasure right away.
Since they could not think of anything, the Minotaur generals all turned to Bagh, their eyes pleading for help while his own gaze was full of mockery.
Faced with the Minotaur generals’ pleading looks, the demon called Bagh let out a low chuckle.
“The method is very straightforward. Just set it on fire.”
“Fire? Will fire even work?”
“Will it work?”
In response to the Minotaur generals’ questions, the demon slowly raised his hand, and a ball of green flame ignited in his palm.
“You idiots, whether it works or not, we’ll know once we try, won’t we?”
With Bagh’s suggestion, the huge army that had halted its advance stirred restlessly. Then, in another patch of forest farther away, right where Tianyin’s Half-beast scout squad was watching from, fires began to appear.
“Captain, they’ve started setting fires over there!”
Seeing the enemy begin to set fires, a Half-beast soldier behind the Half-beast captain looked uneasy.
“Shut it. It’s not like I didn’t see. You think I need you to tell me?”
“But Captain… our ambushers…”

“I know.”
The Half-beast captain’s expression did not look good either.
Even so, there was still a firm light in his eyes.
“The situation is urgent. Take the news that the enemy has started burning the forest and report it back immediately. Make sure this intel reaches the general quickly.”
“Yes… I’ll go report it right away!”
The Half-beast soldier behind him did not dare linger and hurriedly left the observation post at a run.
Once the messenger had left, the Half-beast captain stared at the flames in the distant forest that were growing more and more intense… and his gaze flickered nonstop.
With the ambushers exposed, a single fire completely flushed out the large ambush force Tianyin had hidden in the forest.
The appearance and exposure of that ambush army made the Minotaur generals, who had still been half-doubting before, change expressions drastically.
“Ambushers!”
“There really were ambushers!”
Watching the Minotaur generals stare dumbfounded at the troops that had begun to flee out of the forest, the demon called Bagh let out a derisive snort.
“Idiots… What are you spacing out for? Chase them!”
So…

With Bagh’s reminder, the army of over a million men began a full pursuit of the ambushers whose position had been discovered and who were now collapsing in retreat.
“My lady, a battle report from the frontline!”
Once the forest ambushers were discovered, a whole series of related intelligence from the frontline was rapidly delivered to the main camp.
In the main camp, Tianyin, who had taken over command of the entire border defense army, was likewise sitting in command of the rear.
Right now, inside the command tent, Tianyin was wearing leather armor that showed off her petite little body completely. Her face was very serious as she listened to the report from the frontline.
Her long silver-white hair had been simply tied and lay neatly down her back. Her delicate, adorable little face was filled with earnest focus.
“My lady, the ambushers at the front have already been exposed. The ambush troops are collapsing, and the enemy’s army of a million has begun to pursue our routed soldiers!”
“Mm, I know.”
Tianyin nodded slightly to show she had received the news.
After the messenger withdrew, the serious look on Tianyin’s small face eased, and the delicate brows that had been tightly knitted finally relaxed.
“My lady, it seems the first step of the plan has been carried out very successfully. The enemy never imagined that those ambushers were actually bait we’d prepared on purpose.”
As Tianyin’s brows relaxed, the generals present also seemed to let out a long breath, and their faces visibly lightened.
“Even if they hadn’t been discovered, it wouldn’t have been a problem. If they hadn’t been discovered, we could have just gone with the flow and carried out the ambush on them.”
Even though the generals were sounding relaxed, Tianyin’s tone remained rather serious.

“But this works too. Saves us from having to prepare several more ambush operations… since the enemy has already begun chasing our routed troops, have the units in the rear that were preparing to ambush fall back.”
Even though this was her first time commanding a border defense army that numbered over a million, Tianyin at this moment looked completely at ease.
If any experienced commanders had been present, they would definitely have been unable to keep from marveling at Tianyin’s calm and steady command.
Of course… deep down inside, Tianyin was nothing like as calm as she appeared on the surface.
On the contrary, Tianyin’s heart right now was in a state of utter panic.
『Samael, Samael~ how is it, it looks like our plan worked, right! But do you think anything might go wrong?』
In her heart, Tianyin was like a child wanting praise, using a cute tone as she spoke with Samael.
Hearing Tianyin talk in that voice, Samael could not help but laugh.
「Well, Xiaoyin already did super, super well~」
『Ehehe, then Samael, am I amazing?』
「Mm-hm, Xiaoyin is the best commander I’ve ever seen. Back when I commanded an army for the first time, I couldn’t manage to be as seasoned as you are~」
『N-No, I’m not that amazing… it’s all thanks to your help, Samael…』
