Volume 8, Chapter 41 – The Identity of the Supreme
“At most one hundred days? You who sit high above everything have always relied on such cold rational thinking… but don’t you know that sometimes, some things cannot be concluded through calculation alone?”
Faced with the Light Orb’s extremely arrogant words, Yunchou immediately spoke up in rebuttal.
However, in the Light Orb’s view, Yunchou’s rebuttal only made his foolishness more apparent.
“Human, that is merely your ignorance. In this world, I can derive the outcome of anything through massive computational capacity. What you humans perceive as unfathomable results are simply things you are incapable of calculating. That only proves your ignorance.”
When facing Yunchou, who controlled an entire faction and possessed Throne-tier strength, the System Light Orb’s attitude was no different from looking at an ignorant native.
“In reality, everything can be concluded through calculation. The variables in a person’s life are that person’s personality, family, environment, and the people they come into contact with. To me, a computational process that appears immensely complex is exceedingly trivial.”
“The level of difficulty is no different from what you humans consider 1+1.”
1+1?
What a love for bragging…
Staring unblinkingly at the Light Orb before him, a disdainful smile appeared at the corner of Yunchou’s mouth.
“Then since you’ve predicted that I cannot threaten the one you care about, why did you still specifically come to see me?”

“I came to meet you because I have already perceived your true nature. A reincarnator, no, such a ridiculous label is nowhere near sufficient to describe you.”
As far as the Light Orb was concerned, Yunchou’s essence was already completely clear to it.
“Parallel worlds… you are not a reincarnator, nor do you possess any power of time reversal. You are merely being continuously sent to similar parallel worlds by something.”
“Parallel worlds? Don’t make me laugh.”
In response to the Light Orb’s words, Yunchou let out a cold, disdainful laugh.
“Is that the final result of your calculations? If that’s all there is, then you are gravely mistaken.”
“Ignorant human. My calculations have never been wrong. It is simply that you, who come from parallel worlds, are unwilling to accept this explanation. You harbor a wish you want to fulfill, but if these are parallel worlds, then even if you accomplish that wish, would the original goal you wanted to achieve still be the same one? Foolish.”
Although this statement was merciless, the System’s words held undeniable logic.
For Yunchou, if things were truly as the System said, if he had not returned to the past but was instead being endlessly sent to parallel worlds, then after repeatedly ‘traveling between worlds’, Yunchou himself would no longer have any real connection to this parallel world.
The world truly connected to him was his original world, and the person he wanted to save existed only in that very first world. And if these were truly parallel worlds… then what were Yunchou’s countless efforts in the end?
Endless rebirths, endless attempts, death, failure, despair.

And in the end, he was still holding on until now solely through that firm wish to save that person.
But… if he chose to believe the parallel world theory at this moment, wouldn’t that mean the person he originally wanted to save still could not be saved by him?
There was no doubt that this was a truth that could easily shatter the already fragile and battered rationality of Yunchou, who appeared resolute on the surface.
So no matter whether what the System said was true or not, Yunchou could not choose to believe it.
Because the moment he chose to believe it, he would truly collapse completely…
“A self-deceiving human. As expected, coming to see you in person does carry a tiny bit of amusement.”
The System calculated Yunchou’s thoughts in an instant. And regarding Yunchou’s mindset, the System’s evaluation amounted to nothing more than a trace of amusement.
“Then, you from the parallel worlds. What exactly is it that drives you to continuously travel between parallel worlds? Or is your true purpose to stop me?”
“Stop you? Why would you even need to ask about that possibility?”
“Through calculation, I can indeed reach a state approaching omniscience. However, omniscience is merely confined within a fixed range for me. True omniscience does not exist. It is inherently a paradox.”

“Therefore, regarding the purpose of you from the parallel worlds, even if the answer can be calculated, it would require an enormous amount of time. That is entirely not worth it for me. To obtain an answer, rather than wasting vast amounts of time calculating, it is faster to ask you directly.”
In response to the System’s words, Yunchou could only quietly mock it with that word.
“Monster…”
Of course, to a System that relied purely on rational thought, such mockery might not even be mockery. It might instead be praise.
“Enough. Tell me your purpose. If it does not conflict with my ultimate objective, I can allow the wish you desire to be fulfilled.”
“Fulfill my wish? Ha, as expected, you high and mighty existence only speaks in words that sound benevolent but are nothing more than alms… however, I have heard such words countless times…”
Without a doubt, if the System had said this to other players, some of them might have been tempted.
But… to Yunchou, who had traversed countless parallel worlds… the System’s words were nothing more than a denial of his repeated efforts to ‘start over’ again and again.
If he accepted the System’s explanation, wouldn’t that be denying all of Yunchou’s efforts up until now? And how would that be any different from indirectly acknowledging the parallel world theory?
So for Yunchou, no matter how the System tried to guide him or what promises it offered, Yunchou would only ever believe in himself.
Because he could only choose to believe in himself, and believing in himself was the only option left to him.

When a person has walked too far down a path, that person can no longer turn back. They can only continue forward until the end.
Even if they know it is wrong, even if they know it is impossible. But… before seeing the result, that person will never give up.
And for Yunchou, as long as there was even a sliver of possibility, he would continue walking forward, unwavering, again and again, endlessly.
“Ha, speaking of which, the one you care about is less a person and more like one of your chess pieces, isn’t she?”
After the System had said so much, Yunchou decided to reclaim a bit of ground verbally. Much like children stubbornly wanting to gain the upper hand in verbal disputes.
“That person, the End, the power of Original Sin. No, to be precise… she is the so-called Supreme who disappeared long ago, right?”
The Supreme.
The moment he spoke that person’s truth, Yunchou realized that he could no longer say the words he wanted to say next.
And the Light Orb before him seemed as though some immense terror was brewing within it.
