Volume 9, Chapter 3 – The Inferiority of Humanity
The real world.
The Ascension Plan, also a laboratory belonging to the Immortality Plan.
That mysterious Light Orb which scientists had stripped from a fallen meteor ten years ago was still quietly floating in the central core area of the cold laboratory.
Metallic walls and facilities filled with a sense of technology.
Researchers moved back and forth. Although it looked lively, because almost no one was talking, the entire laboratory felt somewhat quiet.
However, this peaceful atmosphere was destined to be completely shattered today.
Because, without anyone noticing, that huge Light Orb which had originally been floating quietly underwent another abnormal change.
It was not just the previous blood-red transformation. This time, the enormous Light Orb burst forth with dazzling white light so intense that it was almost impossible to keep one’s eyes open—
“What is that? It’s so blinding!”
“What’s happening, what happened again? The monitoring data was clearly all normal before!”
“Emergency situation, hurry and summon the emergency team to handle this!”
Although most of the researchers appeared rather flustered, there were still some calm ones who thought of the emergency team.
And the so-called emergency team was an organization established because a similar abnormal event had happened once before.
Among them, the core members of the emergency team were basically those who had obtained genetic templates from the game, that is the Subworld, or beings with Elite-tier and above King-tier or Leader-tier templates.

Elite-tier individuals in the real world could easily overpower more than a dozen battle-hardened mercenaries. As for King-tier and Leader-tier above Elite, the former could handle an entire regiment of well-equipped and well-trained soldiers.
The latter was even more exaggerated, requiring more than a dozen divisions to barely contend with them.
Not to mention that above these tiers there was Epic-tier. And above Epic-tier, there was even Legendary-tier.
Among these emergency teams, most members were King-tier or Leader-tier, and among them, the vice-captain was an Epic-tier player.
As for the captain, a Legendary-tier that was rare even in the game world.
“Call the emergency team? Isn’t that a bit over the top? Maybe this Light Orb is just acting up again like last time?”
Not only were there calm researchers, there were also some who appeared even more composed.
Because an abnormal incident had occurred before, most of the laboratory personnel had already been replaced. Only a few who occupied core positions had not been replaced. And among the chaotic crowd just now, it was precisely these researchers who had personally experienced the previous abnormality who appeared extremely calm.
“Better safe than sorry. Calling the emergency team is the best choice right now!”
“Hey, hey, do you know what calling the emergency team means? It means we’re a bunch of useless freeloaders. Can’t we handle something like this internally ourselves?”
“This…”
Those few calm researchers all hesitated in unison.
“We should be able to handle it, right? After all, didn’t nothing happen last time either?”

“Exactly. The emergency team is just a bunch of players anyway. What do those players understand? This kind of thing should be handled by professionals like us.”
To a certain extent, these researchers with rich knowledge harbored deep disdain toward those who gained power through games.
It was precisely because of this contempt that they did not have much goodwill toward the emergency team. And if not for the sudden situation in the laboratory this time, they really would not have wanted to deal with those so-called gorilla players who were head-empty and only knew how to use brute force.
“That makes sense. Let’s suppress this matter. It wouldn’t be good if it got out.”
In the end, these core researchers decided the direction this matter would take.
However, just as these people made up their minds, under the light enveloping that Light Orb, outlines of humanoid figures began to appear one after another.
At the very beginning, because they were relatively vague, no one noticed them. But as time passed, the outlines became clearer and clearer.
Finally, one researcher casually glanced in the direction of the Light Orb, and then stared over there with eyes wide open.
“There’s, there’s… someone… there are people!”
“People?”
The colleagues beside him were confused and followed his gaze.
Then, that researcher was also plunged into a stunned state.
“This is bad… hurry and report this!”

With the discovery by these two researchers, more and more researchers noticed the abnormality, and then it reached the ears of those core researchers.
“People appeared under the Light Orb? How could something so inconceivable happen?”
“I think we should hand it over to the emergency team to handle.”
“No, what if it’s something like a mirage? Or simply an illusion? After all, if people have already appeared, why aren’t they moving? Why would they leave us time to react?”
“That makes sense.”
“Right? Think about it. If we hand this over to the emergency team now, the fact that we concealed it earlier might be exposed. Would we still have a good outcome then?”
“So we only have one path, to go all the way down this road!”
Humans are just this kind of creature.
Clearly knowing at times that they have already made a mistake. Clearly a mistake that could be solved just by turning back.
Yet under the excuses they weave of cannot turn back, they choose to continue making mistakes.
But such behavior is undoubtedly foolish.
If one does not choose to correct the mistake at the most critical moment, then when one wants to regret it later, there will be no chance left.
After these core researchers chose to give up on letting the emergency team handle the situation, they stepped forward to restore order to the chaotic laboratory.

In just a few minutes, the chaotic laboratory returned to normal. Everyone discovered that aside from emitting dazzling light, the Light Orb only seemed to be creating illusory human silhouettes beneath it.
So everything appeared to be completely normal.
However, this illusion only lasted for a few minutes.
Because when everyone had calmed down, believed they had already adapted to the changed Light Orb, and were preparing to return to their workstations, the Light Orb radiating light finally returned to normal.
The dissipation of the light was expected, but the human silhouettes enveloped by that light did not disappear as imagined…
Because… those figures were all real existences!
Silver-white long hair and delicate yet expressionless faces.
Those girls wore uniform armor that emitted a mysterious radiance, and in their hands they held different weapons such as blades, spears, swords, and halberds.
“What is… this—?”
One of the researchers voiced a question.
However, this was also the final sound that the researchers in this laboratory would ever make.
