Volume 2, Chapter 1 – After the Fall of the Fortress

Three days had passed since the fall of the Northern Fortress.

Though three days was a short time, the news of the Graveyard’s undead launching a surprise attack on the Northern Fortress had already spread throughout the entire world.

And within these short three days, the Graveyard had begun expanding outward from the Northern Fortress as its center. In just two days, the Undead had already taken root in the Main World.

At the same time, players from all over the world were drawn in by the unique Undead attribute and the skill Soul Summon. An endless stream of players flooded toward the Graveyard faction. The vast majority of players across the globe had, by unspoken agreement, chosen to join the Graveyard’s ranks.

Because of that, with billions of players joining the Graveyard, it took only three days for the Undead to crush and sweep through countless cities like a tide.

And it was precisely because of this that the leaders of all the major factions across the world finally began to take the existence of “players” seriously, starting from the Undead themselves.

However, though the Undead’s momentum was fierce, for most of the major factions, it didn’t actually pose any serious harm.

After all, while the Undead’s aggression seemed intense, the leaders of the major factions viewed their behavior differently.

To the Heavenly Father, who ruled over the Sanctuary Plane, the actions of the Undead were easy to understand. In the Main Plane, every power already had its representative, the Church of the Sanctuary, the Dungeons of the Abyss, the Elven Kingdom of Nature, and so on. It was only natural that the Graveyard, too, sought to establish a territory of its own in the Main World.

What further confirmed the Heavenly Father’s thoughts was the Graveyard’s behavior over the past three days. They had made no effort to provoke forces belonging to the Sanctuary. They merely expanded their influence by capturing Strongholds and Kingdom territories. This only reinforced his conclusion.

Of course, the Heavenly Father wasn’t the only one who thought so. The Abyssal Lord deep in the depths of the Abyss, and the Elven King of Nature, shared the same perspective.

That was why, in the Main World, such a situation had arisen, the disaster advanced, crushing Strongholds and Kingdoms in their path, yet never trespassed into other factions’ territories. Meanwhile, the other factions merely tightened their vigilance, turning a blind eye to Undead armies that occasionally passed by their borders.

In this way, an unspoken agreement had quietly formed.

The only ones truly in trouble were the Kingdom and Stronghold factions.

After suffering constant defeats these past few days, the two factions had already begun considering an alliance to stand against the Graveyard’s Undead.

Although that idea had not yet been put into action.

“……”

“Master… Master, what are you thinking about so deeply?”

Somewhere far from the Northern Fortress, among the remnants of the army that had retreated, Tianyin and Mengyao were traveling with the convoy.

It was their rest stop. Having marched all morning, Tianyin’s short little legs were completely worn out.

“I wasn’t thinking about anything…”

Tianyin had indeed been spacing out, not thinking of anything in particular, but just too tired. She sat where she was, her mind blank.

Though she didn’t know why, despite this being just a game… walking too long actually made her tired. It was her first time experiencing that. It was the first time because she’d completely forgotten about the time she had to climb a snow mountain before.

“Is that so?”

Mengyao looked at Tianyin with a hint of concern.

“But Master, ever since we left the Northern Fortress, you’ve been so down… seeing you like this actually makes me even more worried…”

Mengyao’s concern for Tianyin was genuine. To her, her Master was someone truly important.

“It’s fine. It’s just because of Xiaobingxue… so I feel a bit down. Well, being sad is normal. What’s done is done, and I’ll get over it eventually…”

There was, however, one thing Tianyin hadn’t said out loud, that Xiaobingxue could, in fact, be saved.

But for now, that method was far beyond Tianyin’s reach.

“Alright. But Master, if something’s making you sad, you can tell me, okay? If nothing else, I can still pat your head to cheer you up~”

Mengyao’s words happened to hit a very sensitive spot for Tianyin, who instinctively puffed up in reaction.

“I-Idiot…! Who… who said you could pat my head!”

With her tiny fangs showing and an indignant look on her face, Tianyin looked adorably fierce.

Seeing her like that, Mengyao couldn’t help but giggle, covering her mouth.

“Pfft… now that’s more like the Master I know~ I like this version of Master the best~”

“Wuu…”

It was only then that Tianyin realized Mengyao’s teasing had been meant to cheer her up and to divert her attention, nothing more.

Understanding that, Tianyin’s gaze softened a little.

“Xiaomengyao, you’re way too sneaky~”

“Eh? What did I do?”

“You’re just too sneaky! I was still thinking about Xiaobingxue, but now I’m in a better mood without even realizing it~”

Tianyin pouted. She’d been trying to stay serious, but that mood had already melted away.

“Hehe, Master, as long as you’re smiling, that’s all that matters to me. I just don’t want sad things to trouble you anymore. Seeing you happy is more than enough for me~”

“You think I’ll be moved by that?”

“I’m sure you will~”

Mengyao winked playfully.

And at that moment, Tianyin couldn’t help but smile.

Translator Note

Based on this chapter, I guess Main Plane = Main World.

The author uses the terms “Main Plane” when talking about many worlds (e.g., Sanctuary Plane, Gate of Planes, etc.). And “Main World” is used when talking about all things inside the world itself.

So, Main Plane and Main World are the same thing. Which term is being used depends on the context.

That’s based on my understanding, so I will keep using both terms to remain faithful to the raw.

If you have another understanding, feel free to comment~

Anyway~!

Somehow, the author makes short chapters again… really damn inconsistent…

So… the price for the premium chapters is keep at 2 KitKats/chapter ya ~
