Chapter 14.1

Seeing that Chu Xiaoyi didn’t speak, Director Li talked lightheartedly,”Actually, I have seen many of your interviews, and I have quite a good understanding of you.”

“At first, you said that you wished to  make achievements  and prove yourself to others. However, I believe that the person you’re referring to is your family, not the general public.

“Am I right?”

Director Li has met many celebrities. Some celebrities had a great sense of variety in his shows and shared a lot of jokes, but some had a very tight and defensive attitude and were guarded against cameras.

Chu Xiaoyi was obviously part of the latter. After he debuted, he stopped appearing in variety shows, and accepted very few interviews. Even then, he still didn’t like to show his true self.

Director Li didn’t need traffic stars to perform in his show. What he wants is to show something straightforward and authentic, not hype nor a dramatic reversal.

That’s why, as someone who had a keen sense of smell, he felt that Chu Xiaoyi was a person that’s worth digging deeply.

He shows new sides the more you get to know him.

Director Li said patiently, “Our country believes that an eighteen year old is considered an adult, while the marriage law stipulates that men who are twenty-two years old and women who are twenty years old are of the legal marriage age, but these are only the numbers defined by the outside world. This does not mean that people automatically become mature at this age.”

“In my opinion, a person reaches true maturity when he has the ability to build  a small family on his own. ”

Director Li knew that each family had their own particularities, and there are more and more only children, making it difficult for parents to really ignore their children.

“Even if those children become adults and choose to work or get married, their parents will still be busy and eager to work for the rest of their lives for them.”

“Some people grow up, but still rely on their parents, even until when they are forty or fifty years old.”

“Only people who have built their career and a solid financial foundation, as well as those who can and are willing to assume his or her responsibilities in their families, can be considered to be truly mature.”

“Of course, I don’t just mean that getting married and starting a family is the basis of all of this. In fact, many young couples still do not have the ability to establish their own family, and oftentimes need the help of their parents, which is not mature. ”

Director Li smiled as he continued, “Hmm…how should I describe it?”

“A child will always feel like a baby in front of their parents, regardless of their age.”

The baby mindset is one of the indicators of maturity, and even this psychology has nothing to do with one’s ability to make money; many people who have good work abilities do not mature in front of their parents. ”

Inexplicably feeling a little weak-hearted, Chu Xiaoyi slowly turned his head to the side and asked, “Then should I leave my original family and start my own small family?”

“The small family and everyone do not exist independently, but cover each other and coincide,” Li Daoyu stated gravely.

“Or perhaps…can I talk with your family? After all, our show is all about how things work among families, from past to present. I think it would be better if we all discuss this together rather than just the two of us making a decision.”

Chu Xiaoyi was a little reluctant, but there was really no reason to decline when he faced Director Li who rationally laid out everything to him.

With the encouragement of Director Li, he sent messages to his parents separately about his request to hold a family meeting with them.

Xiao Bi and Chu Jiadong replied quickly.

Director Li mentioned that he hoped to use a voting system among their family to decide whether to be on the show, rather than simply letting Chu Xiaoyi choose alone, which was more in line with the original intention of their show, “Our Family for Several Generations”.

In Yurongtai Community, Chu Jiadong and Xiao Bi had already received news from their eldest son and were currently receiving Director Li and other crewmen.

Director Li said politely: “Because Xiaoyi is busy with work and usually has few opportunities to go home, do you two have any regrets and wishes? We can fulfill them one by one in the show. ”
