Chapter 108: The Auction House
Chapter 108: The Auction House
Xiao Fen stood on the street in a daze for a while, before realizing that he still had that scroll in his hand.
He glanced left and right. No one around noticed him, a novice; the Trialists didn’t find it strange that he had suddenly appeared on the street.
“Skill: Qigong”
“Basic Level”
“Within a distance of 10 meters, consuming 20 Energy, you can use any tool to launch a ranged attack on a target, dealing 40 Qi Explosion damage to the target. Cooldown time: 75 seconds.”
“Attachment: You can attach another type of damage to this attack.”
“Knockback: This attack can produce a knockback effect on medium-sized targets.”
“Note: Other weapon s will not provide a bonus to Qi Explosion damage.”
“Note: This skill can only be learned under the gaze of Yggdrasil, and can only be used in environments permitted by Yggdrasil.”
The content of this Skill Scroll amounted to just this. As for the information hint the old man mentioned about finding the other half of the skill on the scroll, there was nothing at all. This made Xiao Fen feel a bit cheated.
But thinking about it, it was his own feeling that had brought him here in the first place, so he decided to trust his instincts.
Thinking of this, Xiao Fen looked around, found a secluded corner, and clicked directly on “Learn New Skill.” With a soft “snap,” the Qigong scroll turned into powder in his hand.
In his personal Attribute panel, a gray skill icon appeared.
“Qigong: Basic Level. Use your weapon to make your opponent feel your piercing offensive.”
“Note: Upgrade conditions not met. This skill cannot be upgraded for the time being.”
How to evaluate this skill? It was a skill that was neither good nor bad, or perhaps, a chicken-rib skill.
After all, a distance of 10 meters was too short. Given Xiao Fen’s current physical fitness, crossing 10 meters took just over a second.
With the time it took to perform one Qigong attack, it would be more practical to just rush up and use a weapon like the Withered Flower.
However, considering it could produce a knockback effect, using this skill at certain times might produce special results.
Thinking of this, Xiao Fen just smiled and didn’t pay too much attention to where the other half of the skill actually was.
If it were any other Trialist, exchanging a Skill Point for such a chicken-rib skill would mostly make them extremely annoyed.
But Xiao Fen was different. Although he didn’t have many Skill Points on hand, with his Level 2, the number of Skill Points he had plus the number of skills he had already mastered far exceeded his peers. Occasionally wasting one Skill Point wasn’t too big of a problem.
Walking out of the alley, he casually found a shop owner to ask for directions, confirmed the location of the Auction House, thanked them, and walked straight over.
What Xiao Fen didn’t know was that not long after he left, the “Abnormal Scrap Materials” small shop lifted its disguise and reappeared on the street. However, inside the small shop, it had already turned upside down.
The old man, who had previously looked both dignified and like a philistine profiteer, was crying his heart out on the second floor, shouting: “It’s true, that was a real scroll, why didn’t I realize it?”
The woman downstairs scratched her ear in annoyance and said: “Alright, alright, of course that was a real scroll. You’ve tricked so many noobs before. I told you to retire early and sell some decent stuff. Now look, that kid wasn’t some noob; he spotted the real scroll at a glance.”
The old man sobbed: “How was I supposed to know this guy could just pull out 10,000 Gene Points? I originally planned to recommend another scroll to him since he wouldn’t be able to pull out that many Gene Points, but I didn’t expect this guy to actually have so many Gene Points on hand, yet he kept playing dumb and making me explain so much. This guy is definitely not a novice, absolutely not!”
The woman downstairs laughed heartily and said: “Nonsense, how could someone who can pull out 10,000 Gene Points without blinking be a novice? You really ran into a wall this time. Fine, hurry up and pay my rent, or I’ll kick you out of this shop later.”
The two of them jabbered on for a while longer, but Xiao Fen knew nothing of this. He had already walked to the ultimate destination of his trip to the Trialist Castle.
Before his eyes, the massive Auction House towered into the clouds.
Compared to this Auction House, the world’s tallest building in Dubai looked as tiny as an infant. Standing below the Auction House, even with Xiao Fen’s Basic Sharp Vision, he couldn’t see where the top of the Auction House was.
“Friend, first time at the Auction House? A rookie?”
Just as Xiao Fen was observing the massive Auction House, a booming voice suddenly came from behind him.
Xiao Fen turned his head to look. A tall, burly man, about two meters in height, was watching him.
This burly man was clad in heavy armor, which bore mottled bloodstains, looking as if he had just returned from a Trial World.
Beside this burly man, there were four other bloodstained Trialists. One of the women looked no different from the cat-girls in cartoons, even her long black tail was slowly swaying behind her.
Xiao Fen smiled and nodded: “Ah, yes. This is my first time coming to this Castle. I don’t understand anything, just looking around.”
The burly man turned his head to glance at his companions. His companions were clearly used to his meddlesome nature. Although they looked a bit helpless, they didn’t say anything.
Seeing his companions’ expressions, the burly man smiled and reached his hand out to Xiao Fen, saying heartily: “My name is Hans, from Germany. But I’ve been in Asia for a while. I found a few good partners here, so I don’t want to go back to Europe.”
Xiao Fen smiled and shook his hand back, introducing himself as well: “Xiao Fen. I haven’t been a Trialist for long. I’m not very familiar with a lot of things here yet, so I’ll need your help.”
“Let’s go, let’s walk and talk inside. Even if we don’t buy anything, we can at least get familiar with the environment. Speaking of which, the Auction House in the Asia region is the best in the world, whether in terms of environment or service conditions. It’s no fun just talking about it out here.”
As Hans spoke, he turned his head to ask a tall, thin man beside him: “Liu, let’s try our luck this time too, see if we can find a decent piece of armor for you. I’m getting sick of opening keys.”
The tall man, whose face had a somewhat gloomy look, forced a smile and replied: “Forget it, no rush this time. It’s better to buy some healing potions as soon as possible. Also, everyone’s equipment needs repairs. Weapon Crafting Masters are hard to find these days.”
