Chapter 13: Communication

With this question, the woman had already sat up from the sofa. The whimpers and helplessness from earlier had completely vanished from her. What could be seen now was a woman full of queen-like aura.

Specifically, this queen was not wearing a top.

The woman stood up very quickly. Before her hair fell down to completely cover all her vital areas, Xiao Fen had already seen everything he should and shouldn’t have seen.

The pale skin of a Caucasian, breasts with perfect shape and size, plus that striking abnormal red at the front of her chest—all of this combined to give Xiao Fen a strong visual impact.

“I told you, my name is Palin.”

Xiao Fen tried hard to focus his gaze on the woman’s waist. The hideous wound there, which hadn’t fully healed yet, could help Xiao Fen calm down a bit.

The woman stared at Xiao Fen, seemingly confirming whether his words were true. Soon, she reached a conclusion.

“How could there be an extra person in a Trial World with two teams?”

She muttered in a low voice, looked up at Xiao Fen, and asked: “What level Trialist are you?”

Xiao Fen looked at the woman as well. This question wasn’t hard to answer; he could just make up a level. However, Xiao Fen needed this woman’s help to leave this world. In this situation, he had to make the woman understand their respective situations.

After a while, he decided to tell the truth: “I don’t know my level. In fact, I’m not a Trialist at all. This morning, while I was heading to the library, I somehow got involved in this world.”

The woman paused, looked at Xiao Fen again, and while holding her removed top in front of her chest, whispered: “Theoretically, non-Trialists cannot enter a Trial World where a mission is in progress without Yggdrasil’s permission. Unless, you belong to the type of people specially permitted by Yggdrasil. We usually call these people ‘Guests’.”

“Guests? What does that mean?”

“Yggdrasil occasionally lets some people enter the Trial World to disrupt the process, causing more changes to those monotonous missions.”

Xiao Fen frowned and said: “Sounds like a catfish.”

The woman burst out laughing with a “pfft”, but the movement clearly pulled at her wound. She sharply inhaled a breath of cold air, slowly calmed down, and said: “Alright, if I guess correctly, your goal is to leave this Trial World and return to the Real World, but you don’t know how to complete all the missions, right?”

Xiao Fen nodded.

The woman held her clothes in front of her chest with one hand and extended her right hand to Xiao Fen, saying: “Alright, starting now, we are temporarily partners. Let me introduce myself, my name is Sylvia, a Level 3 Trialist.”

Xiao Fen shook hands with Sylvia. The woman’s hand was very cold, almost making Xiao Fen shiver.

“If I guessed correctly, it was you who completed the Traces of Lux mission.”

After withdrawing her cold little hand, Sylvia looked at Xiao Fen and said: “That is a very strange mission, followed by a series of subsequent missions. Only by completing all these missions can the completion rate of this Trial World reach 100%.”

Xiao Fen frowned and asked: “What are the benefits of 100% mission completion?”

“The more missions triggered and completed in the Trial World, the more you gain during the settlement before leaving. If all missions in a Trial World are triggered, reaching the highest difficulty, and all completed, the Trialist can obtain a Brilliant Gem upon leaving. In our current world, if we can achieve 100% completion, we can get 5 Brilliant Gems upon leaving.”

Xiao Fen thought for a moment and understood the key point. He whispered: “No one has ever achieved 100% completion in this Trial World? Traces of Lux is the key.”

“That’s right. Traces of Lux. Our team leader, Suffield, claimed a while ago that he had mastered some information about Traces of Lux. However, he felt that if this mission was triggered, the difficulty of the subsequent final mission would increase to a level our team couldn’t handle. So he found Li Ruran, hoping the two teams could join forces to complete this mission. We would take 2 Brilliant Gems, and the Li Family would take 3. However, poor Suffield clearly underestimated the greed of the Li Family.”

Xiao Fen smiled slightly. Although he didn’t know the function of the Brilliant Gem, he could only respond to what Sylvia said: “We have an old saying: ‘Asking a tiger for its skin.’ Your captain clearly hadn’t heard it.”

Sylvia gave a bitter smile, looked up at Xiao Fen, and said: “From now on, you are as dangerous as I am. No, you are even more dangerous than me. Trialists cannot harm each other in the Trial World, but Trialists can harm Guests. If that bastard Li Ruran discovers you are a Guest, guess what the result will be?”

“Kill me, and then take over the subsequent missions of Lux from me.”

Sylvia nodded and said: “Exactly. The Trial World’s missions won’t be lost. As long as he kills you, he can take over all your current missions. Of course, he won’t spare me either.”

Xiao Fen took a few steps back, sat back on the bed, and whispered: “This world isn’t big. They can easily find me. Even with you, we are no match for them.”

Sylvia sighed and said: “It’s a pity my body isn’t fully recovered yet. Otherwise, before the difficulty of this world’s final mission rises too high, I could directly kill Jack and have Yggdrasil perform the mission settlement early. Although we wouldn’t gain anything, at least we could keep our lives.”

Xiao Fen shook his head again and said: “We don’t have that many ‘ifs’. According to you, the Li Family’s team should be very strong. We can’t survive on ‘ifs’ alone. We must act cautiously now and avoid revealing any flaws.”

Sylvia looked up at Xiao Fen and asked: “Sounds like you already have a complete plan?”

“The only way to prevent the mission from being taken by others is for us to complete the mission first.”

Xiao Fen spoke with a very serious expression. The charm of a man focusing intently on a problem was radiating from him. Although it wasn’t a dazzling spectacle, this demeanor alone was enough to make many women fall for him.

Sylvia looked at Xiao Fen, her mind also wandering a bit. The excessive pain had left her spirit in an extremely exhausted state, lowering her resistance to the charm radiating from Xiao Fen.

Xiao Fen looked at the empty air before him and continued: “Shortly after I completed the Traces of Lux mission, I received the subsequent mission, Radiance of Lux. I thought I didn’t have the ability to complete it at the time, but now with you, we can attempt it.”

Saying this, Xiao Fen raised his head to look at Sylvia, whose eyes were somewhat dazed, and said: “As long as we can complete Radiance of Lux, we can obtain more Gene Points, exchange for necessities, and also indirectly push the progress of the entire mission.”

Sylvia nodded drowsily and said: “Okay, whatever works. You decide.”

Xiao Fen nodded slightly and asked: “When will the battle between those Webs and Giants end?”

“Zero hour. At zero hour, all the noise will stop.”

Sylvia spoke absentmindedly, then her body suddenly jolted, and she looked up at Xiao Fen and asked: “Wait, did you just say Giants? Also, there is a battle between Webs and Giants?”

Xiao Fen looked at Sylvia equally strangely and said: “What? Don’t you know about the Giants?”

Sylvia shook her head and replied: “I told you, we arrived in this world yesterday, then were framed, and the entire team was wiped out. I escaped to this tavern and hid as a waitress, so I know nothing about the subsequent changes.”

After thinking for a moment, Sylvia continued: “No, it’s not just a matter of time. People who have completed this Trial World before never mentioned a battle between Webs and Giants. Even regarding the Giants, they were vague, seeming as if they don’t appear every time. This is unprecedented.”

At this point, Sylvia looked up at Xiao Fen and whispered: “Traces of Lux?”

Xiao Fen did not answer but nodded slightly.

Precisely because no one had completed Traces of Lux before, there had never been a battle between Webs and Giants. Once Traces of Lux was completed, unprecedented changes occurred in this world.

In other words, this world had already become completely different from before.

“This is good news and bad news. The good news is that Li Ruran and his group are unfamiliar with this changed world, so they will need time to adapt, and it will take even longer to find us. The bad news is that we are equally unfamiliar with this world, making it harder to successfully complete the subsequent missions of Lux.”

Xiao Fen shrugged, picked up the quilt from the bed, and draped it over the surprised Sylvia, saying: “It’s too early to consider these issues now. From now on, you have 2 hours of rest time. We need to return to that district before 10 o’clock tonight. We don’t have much time to wait.”

Sylvia looked at Xiao Fen, suddenly smiled, and said: “You really are quite the gentleman. If your real face weren’t so old, I might have fallen in love with you.”

Xiao Fen smiled, sat back on the bed, and began to reread the book about the Awakened in his mind.

At this moment, mastering more knowledge about the Awakened increased his chances of winning.
