Chapter 124: Relying on Words Alone
Chapter 124: Relying on Words Alone
Lin Meng’s thought only lasted for a few seconds before he abandoned it. It was simply too perverse. The idea of specifically seeking out women who had just given birth to hook up with felt incredibly awkward. He decided to just let nature take its course.
Putting the matter out of his mind, Lin Meng sat on his bed and circulated the Yin Yang Great Dao Skill to refine the remaining Innate Primordial Yin within his body.
The next day, as Lin Meng stepped out of his room, everything around him seemed much sharper and clearer. His body was brimming with endless energy.
"After absorbing the Innate Primordial Yin, my Vortex has more than doubled in size. This puts me directly in the late stage of the Qi Vortex Realm," he thought, full of anticipation. "It shouldn’t be long before I can reach the Refining Sun Realm."
Following the Qi Vortex Realm was the Refining Sun Realm. Once he reached that Realm, the Yin Yang Great Dao Skill would perfectly transform his body, making him even more attractive to the opposite sex. On top of that, he would be able to use more miraculous abilities.
In an excellent mood, Lin Meng went to the kitchen for a quick breakfast before heading out. Over the past two days, out of fear that he might be taken advantage of regarding the land contract, his stepmother had also been busy. She wasn’t home this morning; she had likely gone to find Ji Liyang to discuss planting medicinal herbs. As the boss, Lin Meng naturally had to go take a look as well.
Just then, a figure walked into the courtyard.
"Xiaomeng, are you heading out?" she asked.
"Yes, Cuimei. Is there something you need?" Lin Meng recognized the woman and asked politely.
Liu Cuimei lived on the east side of Taohua Village and was probably around thirty-eight years old this year. She had lived a hard life; her son was born with polio and still couldn’t take care of himself. To afford his medical treatments, her husband worked away from home year-round, while she took on any paying job she could find in the village.
It had to be said that Liu Cuimei had excellent natural features. Despite the hardships she had endured, she didn’t look her age at all. She appeared to be in her early thirties, exuding mature feminine charm. Her figure, in particular, was Top Grade for someone with a slightly plump build. Her ample breasts were massive, and her fleshy hips were exaggeratedly large. Some men in the village would secretly joke that a man of average size could be crushed to death if she sat on him.
"Her figure is even more incredible than Aunt Guilan’s," he thought. "If she pressed down on someone, she would definitely be soft and bouncy."
Lin Meng sized up her voluptuous body, unable to resist taking a few extra glances as his mind inevitably wandered in a dirty direction.
Holding her head with one hand, Liu Cuimei looked unwell. "It’s like this, Xiaomeng. I’ve been feeling incredibly dizzy today, and my whole body lacks energy. I was hoping you could take a look at me."
"Alright, Cuimei. Come with me." Hearing that she was here for a consultation, Lin Meng quickly put away his inappropriate thoughts and led her to the village clinic.
After they went inside, Lin Meng checked Liu Cuimei’s pulse and smiled. "There’s nothing wrong with your body, Cuimei. Your dizziness is likely caused by overwork. Go home and get some rest; you should be fine."
Liu Cuimei paused, asking cautiously, "Do I not need to take any medicine or anything?"
"No, it’s not a serious illness," Lin Meng replied.
Seeming unconvinced, Liu Cuimei let out a dry laugh. "Xiaomeng, how about you prescribe me some medicine anyway? I’m really dizzy, and I’m afraid something might go wrong if I don’t take anything."
Lin Meng was momentarily speechless. "Cuimei, do you not trust my medical skills?"
"Of course not! Don’t overthink it, Xiaomeng!" Liu Cuimei hurriedly explained, sighing heavily. "You know my situation. My son relies entirely on me to take care of him. If something happens to me, how is he going to survive?"
"Alright then." Helpless, Lin Meng prepared to just grab her some vitamins.
But just as he took the medicine in hand, he suddenly realized something was wrong. After successfully cultivating the Yin Yang Great Dao Skill, his medical expertise was far beyond the amateur level he once had. He was absolutely certain that Liu Cuimei had no illness whatsoever. Furthermore, given her normally frugal nature, let alone when she wasn’t sick, even if she truly were ill, she wouldn’t be willing to spend money on his medicine. Instead, she would go into the mountains to find wild herbs for traditional remedies. Why the sudden change in character today?
Thinking about this, Lin Meng put the medicine back, his gaze growing a bit sharper.
"Xiaomeng, why are you looking at me like that?" Liu Cuimei felt a wave of guilt under his stare.
"It’s nothing. I just wanted to say that you really don’t need any medicine, Cuimei. If you don’t believe me, you can go to the town for another check-up," Lin Meng said calmly.
Liu Cuimei’s expression instantly became a bit unnatural. Forcing a smile, she said, "Going to town is too much trouble. Just casually prescribe me something."
"I’m sorry, Cuimei, but I have to be responsible for your health. Since you aren’t sick, I can’t give you any medicine." Lin Meng shook his head with a serious expression.
At this moment, he was certain that Liu Cuimei had an ulterior motive for seeking his medical help. As for what that motive was, it was easy to guess. There were only two people in Taohua Village whom he had offended to the bitter end. It had to be Li Dahai and Li Dabiao trying to use the village clinic to make a fuss and retaliate against him. Having figured this out, he naturally wouldn’t play along and jump into their trap.
"Then... alright then." Seeing Lin Meng’s firm attitude, Liu Cuimei’s expression changed. She stood up and prepared to leave.
Lin Meng stared at her and suddenly said with profound meaning, "Cuimei, I don’t feel like your dizziness is caused by an illness. If you’re dealing with some unspoken difficulties, you can just tell me directly."
Liu Cuimei’s movements stiffened for a moment, but she still didn’t say a word, simply turning around and walking out.
Lin Meng watched her departing figure and couldn’t help but shake his head. He knew Cuimei’s character; under normal circumstances, there was no way she would cooperate with Li Dahai and the others to deal with him. She must have been threatened by Li Dahai. But since she refused to speak, he couldn’t help her even if he wanted to.
Putting the matter out of his mind, Lin Meng left the clinic to busy himself with the land contract.
Meanwhile, as soon as a heavy-hearted Liu Cuimei returned home, she saw Li Dahai and Li Dabiao waiting there for her.
"How did it go?" Li Dabiao stepped forward, unable to wait.
Liu Cuimei shook her head. "Lin Meng must have noticed something was off. He didn’t give me any medicine and just told me to go home and rest."
Li Dabiao’s face instantly darkened, his temper flaring. "Damn it, how could that brat know our plan? Did you leak it to him on purpose? Don’t forget, Liu Cuimei, your son’s disability subsidy depends on a single word from Dahai!"
Liu Cuimei lowered her head in fear and said weakly, "I... I didn’t say anything. He really figured it out himself."
Li Dabiao’s eyes widened, clearly unconvinced.
At that moment, Li Dahai walked over. "That’s enough, Dabiao. It’s not like you don’t know that little brat. You could say he’s full of dirty tricks, so it’s not surprising he saw through our plan."
"Then are we just going to let the matter of getting back at him slide?" Li Dabiao asked unwillingly.
"Who said that? Even though he didn’t prescribe any medicine, as long as there was no one else around, who can prove it? Since Cuimei went to the clinic, whatever happened there is based entirely on her word, isn’t it?" Li Dahai revealed a sinister smile.
Li Dabiao instantly understood the meaning behind his words. His eyes suddenly lit up as he began to laugh just as sinisterly.
