He exhaled deeply. "Phew. The herb planting is all sorted out. Now I just have to wait for them to mature and make a killing!

"As for weeding and applying pesticides, I can leave that to Stepmom and the others. Before the herbs are ready, I still need to supply the Beauty Liquid on time."

In the afternoon, after arranging the herb planting with his stepmom and the others, Lin Meng returned to the village clinic to plan his next steps. It would take some time for the planted herbs to mature. Until then, he still needed to gather wild herbs from the mountain to ensure the Beauty Liquid wouldn’t run out of stock. As for the gathering itself, he could just leave it to Wang Wei as usual.

With the plan set, Lin Meng continued using his remaining herbs to brew more Beauty Liquid. By evening, he finally finished the entire batch. Using the same small vials Zhu Yan had provided last time, filling four to five hundred bottles shouldn’t be a problem.

Lin Meng planned to deliver them to Zhu Yan the next day and cure Liu Yun’s illness while he was at it. After all, he had already taken her money; it wouldn’t be good to keep dragging it out.

Just as he was thinking this, his phone suddenly rang. Lin Meng casually answered it, and Guo Lin’s voice came through. "Divine Doctor Lin, it’s me. I’m not bothering you by calling at this hour, am I?"

"No. You’re calling about treating your mother, right? I’ve rested enough. I can go over tomorrow to treat her," Lin Meng said straightforwardly.

"Divine Doctor Lin, thank you so much!" Guo Lin was instantly thrilled and said respectfully, "It might not be convenient for you to come over on your own. Let me come pick you up!"

"Sure." Lin Meng didn’t bother being polite with him.

After dinner, Lin Meng found himself with some free time. As the saying goes, a full belly breeds lustful thoughts. He inevitably started thinking about that kind of thing again. So, after his stepmom fell asleep, he headed over to Pan Qiaolian’s place.

After resting for a short while, Lin Meng got up at the crack of dawn to prepare breakfast. Just as he finished, his stepmom woke up. However, while the two were eating, a loud series of curses suddenly echoed from the front door.

"Lin Meng, you bastard! Are you trying to kill me?!

"Get the hell out here right now! You have to give me an explanation for this today!"

Hearing this voice, both Lin Meng and Li Wanrong froze. But Li Wanrong quickly reacted, frowning. "That sounds like Liu Cuimei. Did you treat her yesterday?"

"I examined her, but I didn’t give her any medicine." Lin Meng’s face darkened as he recounted what happened the day before. He then stood up and headed outside. "Stepmom, I’ll go take a look."

Worried, Li Wanrong hurriedly followed behind him.

When Lin Meng reached the courtyard and opened the main gate, he immediately saw Liu Cuimei sitting on the ground, cursing loudly with an agonized expression. Besides her, several neighbors who had been drawn by the commotion were standing around, pointing and gossiping.

"Ms. Cuimei, what are you doing?" Lin Meng asked in an icy tone.

A flash of guilt crossed Liu Cuimei’s face, but she quickly reverted to her shrewish demeanor, wailing, "Lin Meng, you don’t even have the medical skills, yet you try to treat people! I took your medicine, and my stomach hurts so much I feel like I’m dying! You’d better explain this to me right now!"

Lin Meng was so angry he laughed. "Ms. Cuimei, you can’t just spout nonsense. When did I ever give you any medicine?"

"It was yesterday when I came to see you for a consultation! Several people saw me walk into your house!" Liu Cuimei shouted as if she had all the proof in the world.

Several villagers around them nodded. They lived near Lin Meng and had indeed seen Liu Cuimei come over.

"Ms. Cuimei, you did come to me for a consultation," Lin Meng said. "But I can say with a clear conscience that I didn’t give you any medicine at all. I just told you to go home and rest."

Lin Meng was struggling to suppress the rising fury in his chest. He had underestimated just how shameless Li Dahai and his ilk could be. They didn’t need evidence to ruin him; they just needed an excuse!

"Conscience? How much is a conscience worth?!" Liu Cuimei cried and shouted, her words growing increasingly nasty. "Your medicine is defective, so of course you won’t admit it! I’m telling you, if you don’t make this right today, I’ll die right here at your door!"

Li Wanrong couldn’t listen to this anymore. With a cold expression, she said, "Ms. Cuimei, you say Xiaomeng prescribed medicine for you. Bring the medicine out and let everyone see it."

Liu Cuimei’s face shifted slightly, but she suddenly stiffened her neck. "It was just a single dose, and I swallowed it all! How am I supposed to show it to you? Do you want to cut my stomach open?!

"I see what this is. You’re just bullying a poor, pitiful woman like me! Who told my family to be poor, my son to catch that kind of disease, and my husband to be away working?!

"If you want to force me to my death, just say so!"

By the end, Liu Cuimei was wiping away tears, looking incredibly pitiful and vulnerable. This act immediately convinced the surrounding crowd a little more, and they began whispering among themselves.

Liu Cuimei was suddenly a little afraid and backed away a few steps.

Li Wanrong quickly grabbed his arm. "Xiaomeng, calm down. If you have something to say, we can talk it out slowly."

"Stepmom, let go of me. There’s nothing to talk about with someone like her." Lin Meng’s face was terrifyingly cold as he shook off Li Wanrong’s hand and continued toward Liu Cuimei.

Right at that moment, Li Dahai popped out from nowhere and spoke with self-righteous indignation. "Lin Meng, you messed up someone’s medical treatment. It’s one thing to refuse to admit it, but you even want to hit her? Don’t you think you’re taking this too far?!"

Lin Meng stopped in his tracks and glanced at him. "This piece of trash finally couldn’t hold back from showing his face!" he thought.
