After my father (Nobuhide) passed away, the number of visitors coming to see me increased.

The cause of this was that brat (Robomaru).

Whenever there was anything to celebrate, that brat would send greeting letters and some sort of gift to everyone—from neighboring shugo (provincial governors) and shugodai (deputy governors) to local lords, powerful clans, and even jito (land stewards).

Not a day went by without an envoy arriving to return the favor.

When an envoy arrived, my intermediary would hand me a list detailing who had sent the gift and what the item was.

People I had never even heard of would heap praise upon me, yet I could only manage a strained, awkward smile.

It was sickening.

It was all that brat’s fault.

After the Battle of Kayazu, the number of visitors increased even further.

Apparently, Nobukatsu looked on with envy.
