Each Person’s New Year (2)

The fourth day of the first month of Tenbun 22 (1553).

Having finished the first three days of the New Year at Atsuta Shrine, I finally returned to Nakane Minami Castle.

My foster father and the others had been busy, too.

On New Year’s Day, they were summoned to Suemori Castle, and on the second, they joined the New Year’s visit for my older brother Nobunaga at Nagoya Castle.

The retainers of the Nakane clan, who had been awaiting my return, gathered together, and the New Year’s visit began.

Normally, there would be an exchange of gifts—offerings to the lord and New Year’s gifts from him—but the Nakane clan engaged in no such practice.

It was strictly greetings only.

During our visits to Suemori and Nagoya, I presented 『Nanban-style armor』 tailored to the respective physiques of my older brothers, Nobukatsu and Nobunaga.

In return, I received a 『suehiro (folding fan) 』
