Afterword

As usual, I owe this volume’s existence to the great effort of the illustrator, nilitsu, and the editor, Null, as well as everyone else who supported the book’s creation. I’m in a veritable storm of gratitude.

For some reason, the epilogue ends on an “Our fight has only just begun!” kind of note, but please don’t worry. The story will continue in Volume 5.

Now, as far as current topics go, I’m sure everyone has been affected by the coronavirus. I hope all of you readers have been getting by all right. As an author who used to name my video game characters Corona in the past, it’s certainly a strange feeling to see this name going around. But being a natural-born shut-in otaku who always stays indoors, I thought quarantine would be a piece of cake for me.

…It’s much harder than I expected.

Having to refrain from most kinds of recreation can be pretty difficult. As of this writing, the pandemic shows no signs of letting up anytime soon, so please take good care of yourselves so you don’t build up too much stress.

But since we all have to stay indoors right now anyway, I do have one piece of news that might brighten your day. It’s a manga adaptation!

A manga version of The Executioner and Her Way of Life by Ryo Mitsuya is launching in Young Gangan magazine! It’ll kick off the magazine with full-color pages two issues in a row. Sometimes magnificent and sometimes comical, the manga versions of Menou, Akari, Momo, and everyone else are beautifully rendered in every panel. Please be sure to follow the serialization closely!

Having illustrations for a novel I wrote is already the most incredible joy imaginable, and it makes my heart dance every single time.

This is the first time one of my works is getting a manga adaptation, and it’s so exciting that I feel like I get to be a fan myself.

I hope we can meet again in Volume 5 of the novels, too.

Until next time!
