Night came slowly.

The two magic lamps mounted on the wall gave off a faint glow. The dinner the servants had brought in remained almost untouched.

Lathel sat in the chair beside the bed, occasionally glancing toward the door before looking back at Leviana.

Two guards stood in the corridor outside. The room was on the second floor, and the defensive formation surrounding the estate had been activated since nightfall. If he tried to leave on his own, it would be almost impossible to do so without attracting attention.

Lathel remained silent for a while.

Then he lowered his head, gently lifted Leviana's hand, and turned her palm upward in his own.

After several seconds of hesitation, the tip of his index finger slowly began to move across her soft skin.

The weather was quite nice today.
