Chapter 103: Powerful, Powerful

At this moment, Lin Jian, having vanished into the crowd, quickly arrived on the rooftop of a nearby building.

Then, he swiftly released his Thought!

HUM!

In an instant, everything within a ninety-meter radius became crystal clear to him!

"Ninety meters. It tripled!" Lin Jian was so excited he almost roared out loud.

If his Thought had tripled, it meant his other abilities must have tripled as well! He swiftly turned into a state of Invisibility and began counting the time, carefully paying attention to the changes in his body.

A familiar, swelling sense of fullness returned within him—an unmistakable upgrade in Power.

"Power, Invisibility, and Thought. Barring any surprises, all of them should have tripled. So... are there no new Superpowers?" he wondered, frowning. What he looked forward to the most were Superpowers—the more, the better!

However, the Dao Tree and the Dao Fruit did not come with an instruction manual. He had to unlock and study his abilities on his own.

Yet, after spending a long time experimenting on the rooftop, he failed to discover any new Superpowers.

Still, Power, Invisibility, and Thought were his innate abilities. It seemed that with the fall of each Dao Fruit, these three fixed traits would upgrade! The second fruit had tripled them; the third Dao Fruit would likely triple them again.

"Wait, I could control a fruit knife with my Thought before. If it tripled, does that mean I can control much larger objects now?

"Also, my previous Jumping distance was about seven or eight meters at a time. If I gave it my all, I could almost reach nine or ten meters!

"So, if that tripled too, does it mean I can leap twenty-seven or twenty-eight meters in a single bound? Or even thirty meters?

"My Invisibility should also last for nine minutes now.

"Nine minutes... I could do so much in that time.

"Oh right, there’s also my Power."

He extended his fist. When his Thought enveloped it, his arm and fist didn’t undergo any physical changes, but he felt absolutely brimming with Power!

Just how strong was this tripled Power?

"I’ll know once I find a place to test it," he mused.

Taking a deep breath, he carefully climbed down the building. He didn’t dare jump off directly; that would be suicidal. He hadn’t run any practical tests yet. If his hypotheses were wrong, a jump from this height would send him straight to God.

Moments later, he reached the ground, picked up a brick from a corner, ducked back into his car, and sped off.

At 1:40 AM, he arrived at a woodland on the outskirts of Green City, still carrying the brick.

Venturing deep into the woods, he used his Thought to ensure no one was around. Then, he suddenly squeezed his hand. CRACK. The brick shattered on command. His fingers were like a steel vise; with just a forceful squeeze, he had utterly crushed the solid brick.

EXHALE.

He drew a deep breath. His Power had indeed improved.

"But I have to keep testing!"

He found a Yang tree about as thick as an instant noodle bowl and suddenly launched a sidekick!

BOOM!

CRACK!

The Yang tree instantly snapped in two!

Lin Jian was dumbfounded. He could hardly believe it. Was that really his leg? His Power? One had to know that a Yang tree in the height of summer was incredibly tough. Even a chainsaw would need a good thirty seconds to cut through it, wouldn’t it? Yet, he had severed it with a single kick.

"So strong! I’m a Superman now, hahaha!"

Lin Jian burst into hearty laughter, but mid-laugh, he suddenly squatted down to rub his leg. Pulling up his pant leg, he saw that his calf was bleeding! Although his Power was immense and his leg bones were dense, his skin had never been conditioned to withstand such a heavy impact. Not only did it sting, but the skin was scraped raw, and blood was trickling down.

He rubbed it for a long while before the pain finally subsided. He didn’t want to test his strikes anymore; it was pointless and only ended up hurting him.

However, he still had to test his Speed and Jumping.

Taking a deep breath, he slightly bent his knees, explosively exerted his strength, and broke into a sprint!

WHOOSH!

The wind howled past his ears. After just three strides, he skidded to a halt and mechanically turned his head to look back. The broken Yang tree was nearly a hundred meters away!

What did this mean? It meant he had cleared a hundred meters in a mere three steps.

He swallowed hard, genuinely contemplating whether he should walk right up to the National Sports Administration and recommend himself for next year’s Olympic sprints and long-distance events. Throwing in the 110-meter hurdles would work too. Snagging three gold medals would be a guaranteed lock! Naturally, this thought was purely an idle fantasy. He had no real intention of becoming some Olympic champion.

"I’m seriously on track to becoming a Superman. Jumping up a tree shouldn’t be an issue now, right?"

Spotting a massive tree, he took a short running start and bounded straight to the very top.

However, the branches at the canopy were far too thin and frail. The moment he landed on them, he rapidly plummeted! Lin Jian was terrified. If he fell to his death right now, it would be the most pathetic tragedy in the world! But with nothing to leverage his weight against, he frantically clawed at the air, failing to grasp a single branch.

Like a boulder, he plummeted from the treetop.

THUD!

Fortunately, he didn’t belly-flop onto the ground; he landed feet first. In the split second his feet made contact, he rapidly bent his knees and executed a perfect forward roll!

"Huh?"

Through that single roll, all the kinetic force harmlessly dissipated. Aside from a slight numbness in his legs from the shockwave, he was completely uninjured! Lin Jian’s eyes lit up.

It had to be a rule of conservation. Just like how an ordinary person who could jump two meters wouldn’t necessarily get hurt falling from a two-meter height. Now that he could jump thirty meters, plummeting from a thirty-meter drop wouldn’t harm him either.

Coming to this realization, Lin Jian immediately resumed his testing. He repeatedly leaped to the treetops and dropped back down, completely unscathed! Furthermore, he found he could effortlessly sprint back and forth across the forest canopy. He had so much fun that he goofed around for a solid hour, only stopping when the sky began to brighten.

As the morning light broke, he decided to test his final ability: Mind Control.

He found a thick branch weighing around two or three catties, but controlling it felt as light as a feather. The hefty branch zipped through the sky like a Flying Sword. It turned sharp corners, shot straight up, and dove straight down with absolute agility!

If any of those Internal Martial Artists who pursued immortality witnessed this, they would probably die of shock! Because this was practically a legendary Flying Sword!

Moreover, Lin Jian’s control range for his makeshift Flying Sword had expanded from thirty meters to a full ninety meters. Within this ninety-meter radius, his Thought could manipulate anything. With a mere whim, he could command a stone or a kitchen knife to strike someone dead!

Before getting into his car, Lin Jian squatted in the woods and smoked several cigarettes. He secretly resolved never to blindly flaunt these abilities. He had to keep them hidden at all costs; otherwise, he would be locked up and treated like a giant panda or a Xiaobai lab rat.

"However, I should be ready to head to the Capital City and meet this so-called Master Jin Er from whatever elite circle he belongs to!"

Lin Jian raised his eyebrows. Some big shot from an exclusive circle was targeting him. If he wanted to solve this problem once and for all, he just needed to drag this Master Jin Er out into the open and beat him until his own mother wouldn’t recognize him.
