Chapter 125: Xu Fengbin’s Sudden Call

"Fan, about the maritime shipping you mentioned earlier..."

After finalizing the joint venture to start a company, Lin Jian asked about the shipping business.

He pondered for a moment before saying, "I have a few friends who are currently my partners in a business consulting firm. If we really transfer this company, I’d like them to work in maritime shipping. But I don’t know how the salary is calculated?"

"The salary?" Fan Jingqiang thought for a moment and replied, "If you go over, you certainly won’t be an ordinary worker. You’ll be my fully authorized representative, so your annual salary at the company will start at ten million.

"As for your friends, it depends on what skills they have. We offer different wages based on various skill sets, but each person will make at least thirty thousand a month, with no upper limit."

Lin Jian nodded. He had heard before that working in maritime shipping easily brought in twenty to thirty thousand a month.

"Here’s the thing. All three of them are retired military veterans," he explained.

"Veterans? That works perfectly. If they board the ships, they can work as safety officers. The monthly salary will be higher than that of regular workers—let’s start them at fifty thousand."

"Alright, I’ll discuss it with them when I get back. It shouldn’t be a problem."

"What about you? Will you be my fully authorized representative? I’m really short on people I can trust right now."

Lin Jian thought it over. "If it requires being at sea year-round, I definitely can’t do it. But going out once or twice occasionally won’t be an issue!"

"Of course, you’ll only act as a representative occasionally. Plus, you don’t necessarily have to board the ships. Once you’re familiar with the routes, you can just fly over.

"Also, aren’t you going to open a company with Taohua? I suggest you don’t pour all your money into the new company. Keep a portion of it and invest it in our overseas mining operations."

"That works. Since you and Taohua are willing to guide me, I have nothing else to say but to express my deepest gratitude!"

Lin Jian knew exactly what was going on. To repay him for saving Fan’s life, the couple was trying every possible way to offer him lucrative benefits. He didn’t act overly modest either, because he genuinely needed his career to take off quickly.

The three of them then discussed specific details, such as the nature of the newly registered company, its registered capital, and the distribution of equity. Chen Taohua proposed that for the new company, Lin Jian would be the largest shareholder with a ninety-million investment, while they would invest ten million. The two parties would establish a joint investment company, leaving the commercial operations to Chen Taohua and her team.

Lin Jian would then invest another 150 million into Longfu’s overseas mining company, taking a fifteen percent stake.

The three chatted late into the night before concluding their discussion.

As soon as Lin Jian left, Chen Taohua stood behind Fan Jingqiang, gently massaging his temples. "He doesn’t want to take advantage of us," she said.

Fan Jingqiang smiled. "I didn’t expect this kid to be so wealthy. I thought we were just having a meal, but we ended up reeling in an investor."

"This just shows you can’t judge a book by its cover. Lin Jian clearly has the destiny for wealth and nobility!"

Chen Taohua smiled as well. "Let’s take it slow. We’ll guide him for the next few years and help him accumulate some capital. Eventually, we’ll have to go our separate ways. Even blood brothers must keep their accounts clear, so let’s not let money damage our relationship in the end!"

"Understood. We’ll show him the ropes for a few years and see how far this kid can go."

At midnight, Lin Jian invited Wang Qinglong and Huang Mao to a roadside barbecue stall.

"Boss, what’s so urgent?"

Wang Qinglong looked a bit panicked upon seeing Lin Jian. Because it was so late and they hadn’t been given a heads-up, he assumed something major had happened. Huang Mao also wore an expression of deep apprehension.

Lin Jian popped open two bottles of beer and tossed them over. He smiled and said, "I don’t plan on playing around with Ruyi Company anymore."

"What?"

Hearing Lin Jian’s words, the two froze in stunned silence, wondering how he could call it quits when the damn place hadn’t even been open for a week.

Lin Jian shook his head. "Actually, taking over Ruyi was just on a whim. When the company was established, I never planned on doing it long-term. I told you guys before that sooner or later, we’d have to switch fields."

"Boss, does that mean you want to do something else?" Wang Qinglong asked, his eyes lighting up.

"Yes." Lin Jian nodded, seeing no need to hide anything from them. "I’ve invested 150 million to start a mining operation overseas with some people. I’m not the majority shareholder, but even so, I still need to place a couple of my own people there, right?

"Furthermore, once the minerals are extracted, they’ll be shipped back domestically. So during maritime transit, we need someone to guard the shipments along the way.

"Thirdly, I’ve also set up an investment firm. That place needs an office manager who clocks in but doesn’t actually have to manage anything—essentially, someone to sit there and represent me.

"Those are the specifics. Right now, you guys have a few choices.

"The first is to take over Ruyi Company. I’ll transfer it to you for the price of one yuan.

"The second is for you, Cyan Dragon, to go with the ships. The monthly salary is fifty thousand, and you might also have to oversee some mining-related matters abroad. End-of-year bonuses will be calculated separately.

"Huang Mao, you’ll be in charge of acting as the manager of my investment firm.

"It’s the same for Hui and the other two. I’m telling you guys first because I want to give you a choice."

"Boss, can I go abroad to manage the mines like Long does? I’m really not cut out for sitting in an office. It’s absolute torture," Huang Mao said awkwardly.

"That works too. You guys can choose for yourselves."

"Then there’s no need to choose! Boss, you’re offering such generous terms, and this is a major career leap. There’s no reason not to do it!"

Wang Qinglong was just a local street thug in Jiang City. Aside from being able to fight and settle disputes, he didn’t know how to do anything else! Now, with a job paying fifty thousand a month plus year-end bonuses on the table, only a fool would turn it down!

Moreover, even though Ruyi Company had recently landed three contracts, Master San was actually operating behind the scenes for all three. The first two contracts were likely just introductory gifts from Master San to Lin Jian. Therefore, a debt-collection agency was destined to be short-lived. Plus, the domestic authorities were keeping a tight watch; a single crackdown campaign would wipe them out entirely. They were much better off going overseas or working on ships, where they could enjoy far more freedom.

"Then it’s settled. Tomorrow, someone will go to the company to handle the cancellation procedures. However, the lease for the property hasn’t expired yet, so we’ll keep it. Even when it does expire, we’ll continue renting it and use it as a gathering base for us in the future."

"Alright, no problem."

The three of them clinked their bottles together. Just as they were about to chug their beers, Lin Jian’s phone suddenly rang. It was an unknown number, and Lin Jian answered it in surprise.

"Lin Jian, where are you? In Jiang City’s Agricultural Bank District or Donghu Imperial Garden?"

The voice on the phone was extremely urgent, and Lin Jian instantly recognized it as the voice of the martial arts master, Xu Fengbin. But that wasn’t the most important part. What truly mattered was that Xu Fengbin actually knew both of his home addresses!

"Mr. Xu, what do you mean by this?" Lin Jian asked in a deep voice.

"HOOO." Xu Fengbin took a deep breath on the other end. "No matter where you’re staying, I’m afraid you’re already being watched. You must be extremely careful. I received word that someone put a bounty on your life. The payout is exceptionally high, and people from Capital City have already arrived!"

"Master Jin Er from Capital City?" Lin Jian asked coldly.

"Huh? You already know?" Xu Fengbin was thoroughly shocked.

"I know. Thanks for the heads-up!"

With that, Lin Jian hung up the phone. He immediately stood up and headed straight for the parking lot. "I have something to take care of, so I’m heading home first. You guys get the bill!"

Xu Fengbin had called in such a rush, which clearly meant Capital City was making moves again and sending more people! Therefore, he had to get home immediately!
