Chapter 130: Flying Screwdriver

Dawn in the woods on the outskirts of the city.

Lin Jian stepped out of the car with a screwdriver in hand, striding into the woods.

Xu Fengbin, on the other hand, was in no rush. He had been stopped by Chen Zhiyuan, so the two of them remained in the car.

"Be careful. There’s something off about this kid. He’s unnatural," Chen Zhiyuan said worriedly.

"It’s fine, I know what I’m doing. Don’t get out of the car."

Chen Zhiyuan reminded everyone again not to get out of the car. It was an agreed-upon condition: Lin Jian and Xu Fengbin’s match tonight was not to be witnessed by a third party. If Xu Fengbin won, he could say whatever he wanted. But if he lost, nothing that happened tonight could be spoken of, lest he incur Lin Jian’s wrath. Thus, Xu Fengbin strictly adhered to the rules.

A moment later, Xu Fengbin got out of the car. Dressed in a long gown, he strode into the woods as well.

The sky was already brightening, a pale dawn light gradually rising in the east. By the time Xu Fengbin reached the woods, a ray of sunlight piercing through the leaves was shining on Lin Jian’s face. In that moment, Lin Jian looked youthful, vibrant, and full of energy.

The two stood facing each other, a dozen meters apart.

Lin Jian was still holding the screwdriver. Xu Fengbin thought for a moment before speaking. "Whether you use it as a hidden weapon or a dagger, it’s useless. You don’t understand Grandmasters, nor do you comprehend a Grandmaster’s power!"

"I’m not treating it as a hidden weapon or a dagger." Lin Jian weighed the screwdriver in his hand. "I treat it as my Flying Sword. Watch, if you don’t believe me!"

Lin Jian suddenly dropped into a horse stance. His face flushed red as he pressed his right index and middle fingers together and roared, "Rise!"

He made it look incredibly real. In truth... he was faking it. Mind Control allowed him to manipulate objects at will, following his every thought. Why would it be so cumbersome? However, he still wanted to hold his true capabilities back, so he put on an act.

The reason he revealed this move to Xu Fengbin today was to glean more information about cultivation from him. He needed Xu Fengbin to teach him more about the martial world and Qi Cultivation.

Slowly, as Lin Jian puffed out his cheeks in exaggerated exertion, the screwdriver in his hand began to levitate, leaving Xu Fengbin utterly bewildered as to what trick the kid was playing. It hovered right in front of Lin Jian, completely unsupported, its tip pointed at Xu Fengbin as if preparing to launch an attack.

Xu Fengbin was stunned.

Suddenly, Lin Jian pointed his joined fingers forward. The screwdriver instantly transformed into a blur of light. Before Xu Fengbin could even react, it stopped dead right between his eyebrows!

Just one more inch, and the screwdriver would have pierced his skull.

Xu Fengbin’s mind completely short-circuited.

Was this... a Flying Sword? The Sword Control Technique?

"Go!"

While Xu Fengbin was still reeling in shock, Lin Jian flicked his fingers upward. The screwdriver instantly swerved toward the sky.

THWACK.

A magpie that had just landed on a treetop was skewered by the screwdriver and plummeted to the ground.

Lin Jian exhaled deeply, acting as if he was retracting his power. Wiping the imaginary sweat from his brow, he asked, "Mr. Xu, do you think this move can take out Jin Er?"

Xu Fengbin jolted at the question. He took a deep breath and offered Lin Jian a deep bow.

"Lin Jian, I was insolent before, foolishly thinking I could take you in as my disciple. I was blind to the fact that there is always a higher mountain!"

With that, he walked over to the dead magpie, pulled out the screwdriver, and wiped the blood off on some grass. Then, he turned and strode back toward the road.

Seeing him leave, Lin Jian hurriedly chased after him. "Xu, what do you mean by this?"

"I’ll have Master San and Qi leave first, and have them transfer the money to you while they’re at it." Xu Fengbin paused for a moment. "In that split second just now, I suddenly realized something. Crossing paths with you twice has brought me enlightenment twice. I was too presumptuous before!"

"It’s fine. You didn’t know I could beat you back then. So, we’ve basically forged a friendship through fighting, right?" Lin Jian grinned.

"Also, about what just happened, I need you to keep your lips sealed. Don’t tell anyone, not even Master San and Qi!"

"I will," Xu Fengbin nodded.

By this time, Chen Zhiyuan and Qi had both stepped out of the car. It was over already? What was going on? It had barely been the time it takes to take a piss!

"Feng Bin, why are you back?" Chen Zhiyuan asked.

Xu Fengbin smiled. "Master San, please transfer fifty million to Mr.... Lin for me. I concede defeat!"

"What?" Chen Zhiyuan’s eyes nearly popped out of his head.

Qi was completely dumbfounded as well. Xu Fengbin, someone in the Grandmaster Realm, couldn’t beat Lin Jian? And he was calling him Mr. Lin? Was this some kind of joke?!

"Also, you two can head back first. Mr. Lin and I will walk back and chat along the way."

"But..." Chen Zhiyuan wanted to ask more, but Xu Fengbin waved him off. "Let’s leave it at that."

After speaking, Xu Fengbin bowed to Lin Jian. "Mr. Lin, shall we walk and talk?"

Seeing Xu Fengbin’s solemn demeanor, Lin Jian dropped his playful attitude and nodded. "Alright, I’ll walk a stretch with you. Master San, Qi, you guys head back to the city first. Don’t forget to transfer my money!"

With that, he and Xu Fengbin began walking along the side of the highway toward the city.

They walked for a long time without Xu Fengbin saying a word. It wasn’t until Lin Jian couldn’t help but turn to look at him that Xu Fengbin finally spoke. "The skills you just revealed to me... do not show them to a third person. If you absolutely must, silence them permanently."

Lin Jian pondered for a moment. "Alright. Thank you, Mr. Xu."

Xu Fengbin waved it off. He thought for a second before asking, "Was that the Sword Control Technique? But I didn’t sense any True Qi or Inner Strength within your body. How did you do it?"

"It wasn’t the Sword Control Technique. Have you heard of Mind Control?" Lin Jian answered, no longer hiding the truth.

"Thought? Like a Superpower?" Xu Fengbin took a deep breath and nodded. "I’ve heard of it, but I never imagined a Thought could control a screwdriver. Truly unfathomable!"

Lin Jian scratched his head. "It’s alright, I guess. But... Mr. Xu, you being so serious is making me feel a little guilty."

Xu Fengbin let out a self-deprecating laugh. "I was actually just reflecting on myself!" He shook his head with a bitter smile. "That brief moment just now made me see who I truly am.

"After entering the Grandmaster Realm, I became arrogant, complacent, and condescending. I even arrogantly claimed I would challenge Mr. Ji. But the instant I looked at your screwdriver, I suddenly realized... what does being a Grandmaster even mean?

"It’s merely the starting point within the Dao Realm, yet I was so proud I wanted the whole world to know. I wanted to challenge all the experts under the sun!

"I overestimated my own abilities and showed how short-sighted I truly was.

"You taught me a lesson and made me instantly recognize my true self.

"So, I am very grateful to you!"

"Saying that makes us sound like strangers. Let’s just encourage each other. I get pretty arrogant and complacent sometimes too," Lin Jian said.

"Haha!" Hearing Lin Jian’s words, Xu Fengbin finally burst into a hearty laugh. He turned around and extended his hand. "Lin Jian, let’s get properly acquainted. I am Xu Fengbin, a disciple of Yang Zongyou. Born in Hebei Dao, currently in the Grandmaster Realm!"

Lin Jian shook his hand. "Lin Jian, a disciple of Li Hai from the sports academy. Born in Jiangzhe Dao, knows some amateur fighting skills, and just a lowly security guard!"

"Hahaha!"

The two of them laughed uproariously.
