Chapter 135: Uncle Hu of the Worker’s Stadium
Chapter 135: Uncle Hu of the Worker’s Stadium
Lin Jian didn’t know where Shen Ke had gone for her business trip. She had turned off her phone right after arriving at work, so when he tried calling her the next morning, he couldn’t get through.
Since that was the case, Lin Jian decided to head north to the Capital City.
He had already signed the relevant contracts with Chen Taohua the day before, which included agreements for several of Longfu Industrial’s mining properties in New Guinea and Suriname.
As soon as the funds were transferred, he would officially become a shareholder in those mines.
Lin Jian had listened carefully as Chen Taohua explained the details: across these two countries, they possessed a total of six mining operations.
These so-called "mining resources" didn’t just refer to underground minerals; they also included surface assets like timber, sand, and gravel.
According to Chen Taohua, his investment of 150 million would not only break even within three years, but he would also net an additional 150 million in pure profit.
Moreover, this was a steady, long-term investment that promised substantial annual dividends in the future.
Lin Jian knew perfectly well that Chen Taohua and Fan Jingqiang were only bringing him in on this lucrative deal to repay him for his past favors.
However, to him, making 150 million in three years was still far too slow.
After all, he had promised Old Ye that in three years, he would go overseas to the Ye Family and officially marry her, taking her away from the Ye Family with his head held high!
Therefore, a mere 150 million over three years wouldn’t even be a drop in the bucket.
Because of this, he decided to treat that 150 million as a "retirement fund" for Lin Jing. Unless it was an absolute emergency, he wouldn’t touch a single penny of it.
When the time was right, he planned to transfer his shares worth 150 million entirely to Lin Jing’s name. That way, even if something happened to him in the future, she would be set for life.
Meanwhile, he needed to find other ways to make even more money during these three years.
He thought, "Making tens of billions of US Dollars in three years... that’s a bit unrealistic."
Only now did Lin Jian realize that earning tens of billions of US Dollars in three years was practically a pipe dream!
At the time, Old Ye had nodded at him so solemnly, telling him she would wait for him to openly and proudly come to get her.
That was just Old Ye’s consolation prize for him!
"But it’s not entirely impossible!" he thought.
Lin Jian took a deep breath. He might not be able to make that much money domestically, but going abroad could be a different story.
Besides, with his abilities, getting his hands on cash overseas should be a walk in the park.
He thought, "Right. Once this trip to the Capital City is over, I’ll make a trip to Anxi. After settling Old Cat’s affairs, I’ll take Hui, Cyan Dragon, and the others overseas. We’ll travel around a bit; maybe we’ll stumble upon some unexpected windfalls."
Lin Jian pondered the matter the entire way and finally came to a decision: he was going abroad to make his fortune.
He couldn’t exactly go around robbing or stealing back home, but overseas? With his—Uncle Lin’s—Invisibility skills, getting rich quick would be entirely too easy.
Therefore, he had to go abroad!
The plane slowly touched down at Beijing International Airport. Since Lin Jian was flying in business class, he was among the first batch of passengers to disembark. He had to wait a while before Qin San’Er finally emerged.
Qin San’Er was wearing a baseball cap, sunglasses, and a face mask, looking for all the world like a disguised celebrity. When he spotted Lin Jian waiting for him at the exit, he merely made a hand gesture, signaling Lin Jian to follow him.
It felt like a clandestine rendezvous from an old spy movie.
A few moments later, Lin Jian followed him out of the terminal and into the airport’s surface parking lot.
Qin San’Er walked around until he located a Wuling minivan. After retrieving the keys hidden underneath the vehicle, the two men climbed inside.
The moment they were in the car, Qin San’Er took a deep breath. "I know Jin Er has three residences, but he definitely owns more than just those three in the Capital City. I only know of three. One is a courtyard house near Wangfujing.
"Another one is in the Wanliu Academy, though I don’t know the exact building number.
"The third one is in Phase One of Zhongxin City, near the Taoran Pavilion. It’s specifically in the Zhongxin City villa district, but again, I’m not sure which exact villa it is."
"So you don’t know the exact locations for any of them!" Lin Jian noted.
He nodded. "That makes things easy. Instead of me looking for him, I’ll just let him come looking for me!
"Drive. Take me to a hotel so I can settle in."
"Oh."
Qin San’Er nodded. As he started the car, he asked, "Do you have any specific requirements for your accommodations?"
Lin Jian gave him an odd look. "The best, obviously."
"Alright."
In truth, Qin San’Er had meant to ask whether he preferred somewhere secluded or right in the bustling downtown area.
But since Lin Jian’s response implied that money was no object, a five-star hotel would do just fine.
At this point, Lin Jian thought for a moment before saying, "Find a way to leak the word for me. Spread the news that I’ve come to the Capital City to cause trouble for Master Jin Er.
"Don’t you guys have an underworld? Didn’t Jin Er issue a Jianghu Order? That means plenty of people must be keeping an eye on me, right? So if I’m in the Capital City, as long as the news gets out, Jin Er will inevitably hear about it, won’t he?"
"He will. I’ll figure out a way to get the word out. That won’t be a problem."
Lin Jian smiled and nodded. "Have you thought about my proposal from yesterday?"
Qin San’Er considered his words. "I might not actually be able to help you with much, and instead, I’d likely just bring you trouble. Since you know I’m from the Qin Family, and you know the Qin Family has a Grandmaster, you should be well aware of how powerful the Qin Family is!
"If I run away, my old man will send people looking for me. If you step in to protect me when that happens, you’ll be offending the Qin Family. So, shouldn’t you be the one considering this carefully? You’d very likely end up making an enemy of the Qin Family all because of me."
"Heh!"
Lin Jian gave a faint smile. "I asked you first. Answer my question."
"I have no problem with it, but I’m just worried I won’t be of much use to you. As you know, I haven’t even opened my Qi Sea. At best, I’m merely a Postnatal Martial Artist, not even an Innate one."
"Alright, so you agree?"
Lin Jian nodded. "I want you to stay in Jiang City and help me, not because I care whether you’re Postnatal or Innate. In my eyes, a Grandmaster is nothing but hot air anyway.
"I don’t know the first thing about your circles, so I need someone like you who knows the ropes by my side."
"That’s not an issue. But will I be getting a salary?"
Qin San’Er had actually made up his mind a long time ago.
Lin Jian had managed to kill Xu Yunzong and truly seemed to be acquainted with the god-like Xu Fengbin. Since Qin San’Er was determined to stay in the south regardless, he might as well stay in Jiang City. Surely Lin Jian would at least provide him with room and board, right?
Besides, having the chance to meet Xu Fengbin—and perhaps even receive a pointer or two from him—was better than anything else he could hope for.
So, based on all these factors, he had already thought things through yesterday.
The only reason he had brought up those concerns today was to lay out the stakes for Lin Jian. He didn’t want the Qin Family to show up on their doorstep, only for Lin Jian to tuck his tail and cower like a coward. If that happened, what would be the point of following him?
"Mhm. So, how exactly are you going to leak the news that I’m in the Capital City to cause trouble for Jin Er?" Lin Jian asked curiously.
Now that the two had reached a consensus, it was time for Qin San’Er to share more information regarding the underworld.
"There’s a guy in our circles known as ’Uncle Hu’. This Uncle Hu runs a small bar over by the Beijing Worker’s Stadium. He’s quite an interesting character because he acts almost like a journalist—he actually pays to collect news and gossip within the Martial Artist community!
"As long as it’s firsthand information, he’ll actually pay you if you sell it to him.
"After that, he takes it upon himself to leak the news to the public.
"Naturally, if there’s any information you want to inquire about, you can go to him as well. For instance, he could find out the exact locations of Master Jin Er’s properties, or even figure out where Jin Er is staying tonight. But, of course, that comes for a fee!
"Oh, by the way, this Uncle Hu is extremely well-connected in our circles. I hear that Immortals from all walks of life have to give Uncle Hu some face. Because of this, despite the fact that he peddles all sorts of sensitive information, no one dares to cause him any trouble.
"As for why that is, it remains a mystery to this day."
Lin Jian’s eyes lit up. "Oh? The Martial Artist community has someone like that? Then we’ll head to this bar tonight."
"Perhaps Xu Fengbin might know about this Uncle Hu’s background. Why don’t you ask him?" Qin San’Er asked.
He was clearly probing to see just how close Lin Jian actually was with Xu Fengbin.
