Chapter 173: Encountering a Convoy on the Road

The rescue operation that night was a race against time, and it was nothing short of thrilling.

Fortunately, he and Sha Shun had not made the trip in vain. They had turned an impossible mission into a reality.

Both of them were panting heavily. In truth, it was mostly due to mental exhaustion and tension.

But now that Zhang Weihong was safely on his way back home, the massive weight on their shoulders was finally lifted.

"Why didn’t you go back with them?" Lin Jian suddenly asked after a moment of silence.

"Why didn’t you?" Sha Shun shot back.

"I asked you first," Lin Jian said with a smile.

"Wan didn’t tell me to go back. She told me to follow you."

Sha Shun’s answer took Lin Jian completely by surprise.

Lin Jian patted his shoulder and stood up. "Since we’re not going back, let’s get something done. Whoever hurt Weihong and killed his comrades will pay with their blood!"

Sha Shun nodded. "I’ll listen to you." Just as he had said before, he would listen to Lin Jian; that was his sister’s order.

A moment later, the two returned to the foot of the mountain. Ma Yuguo was still there. Seeing them return together, he quickly bowed and scraped as he opened the car door for Lin Jian.

"Back to Muqi Town."

"You got it!" Ma Yuguo was absolutely thrilled; he could finally return to Muqi Town.

"Do you have reliable men in Muqi Town? Helping you take out Bossang won’t be a problem, but after we leave, can you hold the fort?"

"It shouldn’t be an issue. I’m having an affair with Bossang’s wife. As long as she supports me, I’ll be fine!"

"You’re having an affair with Bossang’s wife?" Lin Jian asked, completely shocked. "You’ve got some guts!"

Ma Yuguo wore a bitter expression. "I had no choice! When I was working for Bossang’s wife, she forced herself on me. I had to give in, or I would’ve been dead!"

Lin Jian rolled his eyes at him. "That’s a classic case of complaining about a good deal. But Bossang never found out?" he asked in bewilderment.

"Who knows? Maybe he did find out, but he just turned a blind eye. He has tons of women and hasn’t slept with his first wife in years. So, if she finds another man to fool around with, he’s probably just happy to be left alone!"

Lin Jian was completely stunned. He certainly hadn’t expected Ma Yuguo to be a boy toy.

"So, if I help you kill Bossang, what if his wife wants to kill you? What if she wants to be the female boss?"

"She won’t. This woman doesn’t have anyone capable by her side, and she’s not exactly the sharpest tool in the shed. She’s just reckless!"

Lin Jian nodded. "Anyway, I want Bossang’s cash."

"No problem."

"And one more thing," Lin Jian continued, "I need the exact locations of Sun Dahai and Thunder Dragon."

"Sun Dahai isn’t here. He’s just a drug dealer based in our country, and his name back there probably isn’t even Sun Dahai!

"But Thunder Dragon is here. He’s the drug lord, the seller, while Sun Dahai is the buyer!"

"I don’t care if he’s the seller or the buyer! I want the location of Thunder Dragon’s lair!"

"Dongfang... are you planning to take out Thunder Dragon?" Ma Yuguo asked, narrowing his eyes.

Lin Jian sneered. "Do you have a problem with that?"

"No, no, no, how could I possibly have a problem with it!" Ma Yuguo shook his head repeatedly, but his eyes darted around non-stop. He was clearly scheming something.

Lin Jian knew that the dog-eat-dog nature of the underworld here was severe. Today someone swallowed your territory, and tomorrow you’d swallow theirs. Thus, Ma Yuguo was very likely eyeing Thunder Dragon’s turf.

About half an hour later, Lin Jian was sitting in the car smoking a cigarette when Sha Shun suddenly sat up straight in the back. "Cars are coming. More than one."

"You guys hide in the woods. I’ll stay here!"
