Chapter 179: Chen Zhiyuan Drinking Erguotou
Chapter 179: Chen Zhiyuan Drinking Erguotou
For Lin Jian, the biggest surprise of this trip to the Golden Triangle was the Jade Pendant in his hand.
The teardrop-shaped Jade Pendant was about half the size of a thumb. It was emerald green all over and of exceptionally high quality.
Moreover, it was brimming with Spiritual Qi. This single Jade Pendant was almost equivalent to the combined energy of the seven Seven-Star Spirit Stones he had obtained previously.
Lin Jian grasped the Jade Pendant. As his Thought enveloped it, the Spiritual Energy within rapidly flowed through his palm into his body, where it was absorbed by the Dao Tree.
SWISH SWISH SWISH.
The Dao Tree rustled loudly as if it had just taken a refreshing shower. Every leaf seemed to sparkle. Then, one of the Dao Fruits began to turn red, quickly ripening until it teetered precariously on its branch!
However, it only teetered; it didn’t actually fall!
Lin Jian was shocked by the unbelievably abundant Spiritual Qi in this single Jade Pendant. It was truly incredible. He wondered if the Old Peng Family might have a second or third piece of jade like this. After all, this Jade Pendant was merely worn by a schoolgirl, so surely her mother, or whoever had gifted it to her, must possess similar jade pieces.
"Once this trip to Migu Country is over, I’ll take a trip to Myanmar," he thought. "They have jade mines over there. Maybe I’ll stumble upon an even bigger surprise!"
Lin Jian decided that his next step would be to visit Myanmar. With its jade mines, there were bound to be more jade stones containing Spiritual Qi.
He eagerly looked forward to whatever new ability would emerge once the fourth Dao Fruit fell.
"Hmm, this Jade Pendant..." he thought.
At that moment, Lin Jian opened his palm. The Jade Pendant was still there, completely intact. It retained its emerald color, though it had lost a bit of its luster.
At four in the morning, Liu Xiaoyan brought them breakfast. After eating with Sha Shun, they headed to the airport and boarded their flight smoothly.
The Old Peng Family hadn’t found him. Since the Golden Triangle connected three countries, no matter how immense the Old Peng Family’s Influence was, they couldn’t possibly have eyes and ears everywhere across all three nations.
Besides, Lin Jian had only killed some ordinary soldiers and snatched a Jade Pendant; he hadn’t harmed the little girl, so it wasn’t exactly a blood feud. Furthermore, the Peng Family would need to assess the strength of their enemy. After learning the truth from the driver and the girl, they might not pursue him relentlessly anyway.
Of course, Lin Jian didn’t care whether the Peng Family would eventually track him down. By now, he and Sha Shun were already tens of thousands of feet in the air.
Sha Shun remained silent as usual, but he kept eating nonstop.
In a private club in the Huangpu District of Modu.
Chen Zhiyuan had booked the entire club for the day to host a married couple: Su Guoqing and Na Xueru.
Su Guoqing was the chairman of Dingsheng Group.
Na Xueru was a board member of the Manzu Cultural Association, the chief designer of Jinlin Fashion Design Studio, and the president of Tianxing Entertainment.
Tianxing Entertainment was highly renowned in the domestic entertainment industry. Among the artists signed under its Duke, there were at least three or four A-list celebrities, and the agency was known for its star-making capabilities. And Na Xueru was the president of this very entertainment powerhouse.
Today, Su Guoqing and Na Xueru had no choice but to attend this meeting. Even though they genuinely wanted nothing to do with Chen Zhiyuan, he had not only sent a formal invitation but also called them personally. Thus, they had to come.
On the surface, Chen Zhiyuan was the chairman of Zhiyuan Group, but he was also one of the underground overlords of Jiangnan. He was a formidable kingpin capable of stirring up massive storms.
Su Guoqing and Na Xueru had no idea why Chen Zhiyuan had invited them to dinner. After exchanging brief pleasantries, Na Xueru smiled and asked, "President Chen, is there something on your mind today? If there’s an issue, please feel free to speak plainly."
Chen Zhiyuan sat across from the Su Family couple at a flat-top dining table. While the couple drank red wine, he opted for cheap Erguotou liquor.
Hearing Miss Na’s words, Chen Zhiyuan picked up his small wine cup, took a loud SLURP, and smacked his lips. "If nothing unexpected happens, I’ll likely be behind bars by next month."
Su Guoqing and Na Xueru were greatly startled.
There had indeed been a recent crackdown on organized crime, and a figure like Chen Zhiyuan was undoubtedly a prime target. But why was he telling them this?
"It’s like this," Chen Zhiyuan explained with a smile. "I have a little brother in Jiang City, and we get along really well. But lately, he’s run into some trouble. He says there are always assassins trying to kill him.
"I looked into it and heard that you two were the ones who sent them.
"My little brother wanted to settle the score with you, but then I thought about it—you guys are friends of mine, Chen Zhiyuan. So, I talked him out of it. He agreed to let it go and let bygones be bygones."
"Lin Jian?" Miss Na’s eyebrows shot up sharply.
"Yes, it’s Lin Jian," Chen Zhiyuan replied. "So, how about it, Miss Na? President Su? Do me a favor—shake hands and call a truce, alright?"
Su Guoqing’s expression darkened.
Na Xueru simply chuckled. Picking up her handbag, she stood up and said, "I’m sorry, President Chen. As long as certain people are alive, life will be a fate worse than death for me and my son. We’ll be taking our leave now."
Su Guoqing also stood up and left without saying a word.
Chen Zhiyuan didn’t seem annoyed in the slightest. He took another SLURP of his liquor and even began to sing "Bring in the Wine"...
