Though Sha Shun had heard the entire conversation between Lin Jian and Thomas, he still had no idea what was actually going on.

A moment later, the flames slowly retracted into Thomas’s body. He dropped to his knees before Lin Jian once more. "Respected sir, Thomas is at your service."

He leaned forward as if to kiss Lin Jian’s feet, startling Lin Jian into a hasty retreat.

The guy was stark naked, everything on full display and looking rather disgusting. Letting a naked man kiss his feet would be way too weird.

Lin Jian gave him a strange look and asked, "How do you feel?"

"Respected sir, my flames have advanced to the legendary Level 5 Fire Control Skill! Before this, I only possessed the Level 1 Fire Control Technique!"

Lin Jian nodded thoughtfully. Clearly, the leaf had made Thomas much stronger. This meant that the Dao Tree’s feedback was absolutely packed with tangible benefits.

Meanwhile, Laine turned green with envy. "Thomas, you’ve reached the Level 5 Fire Control Skill? This..."

He immediately threw himself to the ground, prostrating. "Respected sir, Laine is at your service."

Lin Jian smiled and asked, "When you fought me earlier, were you using Force Field Control?"

"Yes, sir."

"And what level is your Force Field?"

"Mine is only at the beginner stage; I haven’t even reached Level One yet. For us Superpower Users, evolution is an incredibly slow process. Only a very small minority ever evolve to Level Five, and those who do are the most powerful existences in Migu Country."

"Hmm." Lin Jian nodded. "I can re-bestow a Superpower upon you, but similarly, I can take your Superpowers back at any time. So... starting today, are you willing to work for me?"

"Of course, respected sir! You possess such immense power and can grant us such incredible abilities. Naturally, we will serve you for the rest of our lives!"

"No, no, no! From this moment on, you are our master! We are willing to obey your every command!"

Laine cautiously approached Lin Jian and extended his hand!

Thomas hurriedly ran toward the rooftop stairwell.

"Yes." Thomas thought for a moment before explaining, "Black Glove is a Superpower Organization rooted in San Francisco. We have five core members—the five of us Superpower Users.

"We also have a network of devotees and regular members. Among our devotees are many small business owners, business elites, military personnel, police officers, government officials, and so on.

"Our regular members consist of gang affiliates who handle our day-to-day operations. We’ve also cultivated numerous informants to help us gather intelligence.

"That’s the general overview of our operation!"

"What about money?" Lin Jian asked. "How does Black Glove make a profit, and how much money do you currently have?"

"We occasionally take on assignments to earn commissions."

Lin Jian’s tone turned playfully mocking. "Like taking on the assignment to kill us this time, for example? How much was the commission?"

Thomas suddenly fell into a coughing fit. Looking incredibly awkward, he confessed, "I didn’t actually ask for a monetary commission this time. I recently got a new girlfriend, and she’s... well, she’s a huge fan of Jackie Chan. She desperately wanted to get a picture with him. So... I just asked Ye to arrange a meet-and-greet so we could take a photo with Jackie."
