Chapter 214: Interrogation
Chapter 214: Interrogation
There was a vineyard located in the southern suburbs of San Francisco, and this vineyard belonged to Laine’s family.
Laine was the big financier of the Black Glove quintet; he was also the one with the most savings.
At this moment, in a vacant wine cellar within the vineyard, Mr. Yu, Mr. Jiaqiang, and Ms. Zhi—the trio known for their technological trickery and ruthless methods—were all locked up with iron chains and shackles. Moreover, the restraints were specially made, as the Black Glove exclusively used them to deal with Superpower Users.
Unfortunately, their very first use ended up being on Qi Refiners.
By now, Fenni, who possessed the Mind Reading Technique, and Emily, who was skilled in Hypnosis, had both arrived. Only Daniel, who could dive, was absent because he had to watch the bar.
Outside the wine cellar, a large group of guards kept watch. Tonight, these Black Glove members had witnessed the sheer power of their leader for the first time. Therefore, at this very moment, the organization’s combat effectiveness and solidarity were at an all-time high. If the Black Glove members used to just coast through their days collecting a paycheck, they now took genuine pride in being part of the group.
Inside the cellar, Thomas’s hand was wrapped in gauze. His expression, however, was incredibly gloomy. As his gaze swept over Mr. Yu, Jiaqiang, and Zhi, it carried an icy chill.
RING RING RING.
Just then, Thomas’s phone rang. He quickly answered it, "Boss."
"Be careful. Among the three of them, two are Qi Refiners, and one of them is extremely powerful, so don’t let your guard down!"
"Understood, Boss. But Boss, what do we need to find out?"
The reason Thomas hadn’t started interrogating them yet was precisely because he didn’t know what to ask. Now, he had finally received his boss’s call.
"Ask for their names, origins, lineages, Cultivation levels, how the potion for the high-pressure water gun was made, and so on. Anyway, dig up as much as you can. Also, record the whole process; I want to listen to it afterward.
"Lastly, the money. They were working for the Ye Family, so it’s impossible they didn’t get paid. Make them spit out all the money, and make them spend even more to buy their lives!"
"Understood!"
Thomas laughed. This boss was great; he suited his tastes perfectly. The man would casually resort to extortion, robbery, and arson at the drop of a hat. That was exactly the kind of thrill he liked.
"Alright, let’s begin!"
After hanging up on Lin Jian, Thomas sat down. Laine, on the other hand, produced a whip from nowhere—the kind made of woven steel wire.
Thomas took a puff of his cigar and said, "First, I don’t like being lied to.
"Second, I don’t like repeating myself, so don’t make me ask a question twice.
"Third, please understand one thing clearly: the lives of all three of you are in my hands. So, let’s get started!
"Starting with you, state your names!"
As he spoke, he used his phone to record the audio.
The woman named Zhi nodded hastily and said, "My name is Xu Fengzhi."
"My name is Yu Feiyu."
"My name is Cai Jiaqiang."
The three were very cooperative, immediately stating their names in order. Naturally, they weren’t some underground resistance fighters or spies, so there was no such thing as being unyielding. They would just say whatever the other party wanted them to say. It wasn’t like talking would kill them!
"Very good. It looks like Laine’s whip is going to rust, haha!" Thomas burst into laughter.
Laine bared his teeth in a grin.
At this moment, Fenni, who possessed the Mind Reading Technique, took a sip of red wine and said, "The little girl is telling the truth. The man in the middle, Yu, had a slight mental fluctuation, but he should also be telling the truth. Cai is telling the truth, too."
Because Fenni could read minds, she could distinguish truth from lies based on the other party’s mental fluctuations.
Mr. Yu didn’t understand what Fenni had said, but Jiaqiang and Zhi did, and they were quite surprised.
"Second question: where are you from? You, answer!" Thomas pointed at Zhi.
"Hong Kong!" Zhi quickly replied. The English name for Xiangdao was Hong Kong.
"Which Sect are you from? You, answer!" Thomas pointed at Cai Jiaqiang.
Cai Jiaqiang was taken aback for a moment, then nodded and said, "We studied under Gongsun Zheng. Gongsun Zheng is from the Zhengyi Sect."
"Zhengyi Sect?" Thomas shrugged. He, Laine, Fenni, and Emily had no idea what that meant. Huaxia’s language was the hardest to learn.
"Then, what exactly are your... um... levels? Cultivation? Realms? Yu, answer."
Finally, Thomas pointed at Mr. Yu in the middle.
Mr. Yu smiled. "I am in the Grandmaster High Grade Realm. Jiaqiang is an Innate Ninth Grade, and Zhi has no grade."
Thomas got a headache listening to this, because he still didn’t understand a thing. However, getting it on the recording was enough.
"Then, how much of a reward did you receive from the Ye Family? You, answer!" Thomas pointed at Xu Fengzhi again.
Zhi was a little scared now. She sneaked a glance at Mr. Yu, and Mr. Yu shot her a cold glare in return!
At that very glance, Zhi shivered, and then she hesitated, saying, "I don’t know."
"Laine, whip him!" Thomas gave a wicked smile and pointed at Mr. Yu!
Even though it was obviously Zhi who was lying, he ordered Laine to whip Mr. Yu instead!
Regardless of the reason, whipping him was the right move!
Laine raised his whip high and lashed it down ruthlessly.
