Chapter 36: Here to Gift a Building

In the Security Department’s office.

In truth, the Security Department only had one office. Previously, there were only two desks inside—one for Zhang Qiang and another for Liu Fei. But now, a third desk had been added to the room. Being the deputy supervisor of the department was still a managerial position, which naturally came with its own desk and chair. At the moment, there was no one else in the office aside from Liu Fei and Lin Jian. The other guards had already returned to their respective posts. Liu Fei had been away earlier and had just returned.

However, Liu Fei was still completely baffled. How did a kid like Lin Jian become a deputy supervisor just like him? Moreover, the higher-ups had ordered him to help Lin Jian get up to speed quickly. Once the Security Department was restructured, Lin Jian was slated to take over Zhang Qiang’s position. This magic trick of a promotion happened so fast that Liu Fei spent the entire morning trying to wrap his head around it to no avail. Naturally, being the quiet and reserved man he was, he wouldn’t ask Lin Jian about it even if he couldn’t figure it out.

"Our Security Department currently has a total of sixteen people," Liu Fei explained. "We work in shifts of eight, twenty-four hours on, followed by twenty-four hours off.

"Although the Security Department is the most overlooked department in the company, we actually have the most responsibilities. This includes the fire safety of all the company’s buildings; it all falls under our management.

"Since you just joined, I’ll take you around the various posts over the next few days. You’ll get familiar with everything in three to five days."

"Can I see the personnel files?" Lin Jian suddenly asked.

"Personnel files?" Liu Fei paused in surprise, then shook his head. "We don’t have the authority to view personnel files. But if you want to know about anyone, just ask me. I know them all."

"Are there any veterans in the department? Anyone who practices martial arts?" Lin Jian asked directly.

"No one practices martial arts, but there are a few veterans. Tan Jian, Xu Xiaohui, and Wang Chuang were soldiers. I heard they all came from the same army corps, and Xu Xiaohui was even a special forces operator in their unit," Liu Fei replied. "Tan Jian and Wang Chuang were just regular artillerymen.

"Why do you ask?" Liu Fei looked at Lin Jian with a hint of concern. "Don’t go trying to form cliques. That would look really bad."

"Got it, Liu," Lin Jian said. "By the way, doesn’t our department have to clock in for work?"

He had already been working for two days but hadn’t clocked in once. Employees in other departments would use facial recognition to clock in when they entered the first-floor lobby before heading upstairs.

"The Security Department operates on a twenty-four-hour basis, and shift change times vary, so there’s no need to clock in," Liu Fei explained. "However, if you arrive late or leave early, you won’t be able to hand over your post to the previous shift’s personnel. Because of that, the security supervisor records your attendance."

"I see. Since I’m a supervisor now, I just need to lead patrols and inspect the posts from now on, right?"

"Yeah," Liu Fei nodded.

Meanwhile, upstairs outside the CEO’s office.

While Lin Jian and Liu Fei were chatting downstairs, a group of five or six people arrived outside the CEO’s office upstairs. Among them were the logistics supervisor, the plump President Hu, and Vice President Yu, who was in charge of the company’s labor union and public relations. Little Secretary Jin didn’t recognize the others.

"Jin, is President Ye inside?" Vice President Yu asked with a smile.

"Yes, she is. President Yu, President Hu, please come in!" Ye Ziqiu had already informed Jin that Vice President Yu and President Hu would be coming, so she quickly opened the door for them.

As the door opened, Ye Ziqiu stood up with a smile. "President Hong, hello." She took the initiative to reach across her desk and shake the hand of the executive surnamed Hong.

Vice President Yu and President Hu had brought three people with them. Little Secretary Jin didn’t know their identities, but she still politely poured tea for everyone.

Once both sides were seated, Ye Ziqiu smiled and asked, "Your Green City Real Estate’s phase three project at East Lake is almost wrapping up, isn’t it?"

President Hong was the head of Green City Real Estate under the Sanjiang Group. Hearing Ye Ziqiu’s words, President Hong quickly nodded. "That’s right. Green City is planning to launch sales at the end of October. This won’t conflict with your Fuxing operations, will it? If it does, we can always reschedule."

"There’s no conflict. Our project won’t be ready until mid-December," Ye Ziqiu replied, her curiosity piqued. "Is this what brought you here today, President Hong?"

"Not exactly. I actually came here with a mission today," President Hong said with a laugh. "The chairman gave a strict order—this apartment must be given away."

"What’s going on?" Ye Ziqiu looked at Vice President Yu and President Hu. The two of them had a good personal relationship with President Hong, which was why they had accompanied him here.

"Haha, Old Hong just told us about it," the plump President Hu laughed. "President Ye, do you remember Lin Jian, the guy who helped you move a couple of days ago?"

"I remember. What about him?" Ye Ziqiu remained composed, though she wondered why Lin Jian’s name was being brought up again.

"It’s like this," President Hu explained on behalf of President Hong. "Yesterday afternoon, Lin Jian drove our company car to the entrance of Green City Real Estate’s sales office. A car lost control and was about to hit two little kids right in front of the building. I heard they were twins—a boy and a girl. Lin Jian courageously stepped in and saved the two kids right from under the car’s wheels!

"Afterward, Lin Jian noticed that the driver of the out-of-control vehicle was also severely injured and unconscious, so he drove the owner to the hospital.

"Many people witnessed it. I heard that Chairman Jiang even saw it with his own eyes. He praised the young man for his heroic act and representing such positive energy. If he hadn’t saved them, those two kids would have died right at the doorstep of their sales office, which would have had a massive negative impact.

"Later, after asking around, they found out that the rescuer was actually a security guard from our company—Lin Jian.

"Therefore, Green City Real Estate decided to gift Lin Jian a three-bedroom apartment.

"Old Hong received the order from their boss, so he hurried over here to deliver the property."

"So that’s what happened..."

Various scenes of the incident seemed to flash through Ye Ziqiu’s mind. Under such dangerous and critical circumstances, Lin Jian had lunged forward, grabbed the two children, and saved two lives—saving an entire family in the process. Chairman Jiangnan must have been deeply shocked when he witnessed the event unfold! Even though she hadn’t been there herself, just imagining the scene made her feel that his actions truly deserved praise and widespread recognition.

"Excellent," Ye Ziqiu suddenly praised aloud.

She realized that she hadn’t misjudged him! The little security guard might still be a massive pervert, but based on their interactions over the past few days, his character was truly beyond reproach.

"Indeed. Just think about it, President Ye. If a fatal accident had happened right in front of our sales office, our losses would have amounted to far more than just a few properties," President Hong sighed deeply. If a tragedy had truly occurred, Green City would have faced a series of crises, and at the very least, their reputation would have taken a nosedive. Compared to that, rewarding him with an apartment was nothing at all.

"Alright. Jin, contact Lin Jian and have him come up immediately." Ye Ziqiu didn’t delay. She had gone to Lin Jian’s residential compound yesterday, and the place was practically a dilapidated slum. Because of that, she felt genuinely happy for him right now.

"By the way, Yu, this is also a great opportunity for our Fuxing Group," Ye Ziqiu added. "Lin Jian fearlessly saved people from under the wheels of a car, and the day before yesterday, he bravely fought off kidnappers. These acts are entirely worth promoting and integrating into Fuxing’s corporate culture.

"So, I want the public relations department to follow up on this. You could even contact a TV station for an interview, apply for a Good Samaritan award, and so on. We can definitely maneuver this to our advantage. The company needs to promote this kind of spirit, and it will serve as excellent advertising for Fuxing."

"Absolutely. That’s exactly what I was thinking. Leave it to me!" Vice President Yu was in charge of the company’s public relations, so he knew there was a lot of potential to capitalize on this incident.
