Chapter 79: Establishing My Own Company

After Shen Ke left, Lin Jian suddenly didn’t want to go home anymore.

Before, he had wanted to head back simply to hide the two gemstones in the box under his bed. Now, he didn’t think there was any rush. They were safe in his pocket—no one could snatch them away, and he wouldn’t lose them. What was the hurry?

Besides, during his chat with Shen Ke, he had learned that Old Cat’s whereabouts were unknown. A missing Old Cat was a ticking time bomb. He needed to find this hidden explosive before it detonated. He didn’t care about himself, but what about his mother? If she were implicated, he would regret it for the rest of his life.

The more he thought about it, the more he felt the need for a capable assistant. A helper could not only look after his mother but also secretly investigate Old Cat.

"Xu Xiaohui!"

He thought of Xu Xiaohui. As a former special reconnaissance scout with solid combat skills and a sharp mind, he was the perfect candidate to help with an undercover search.

However, he didn’t call Xu Xiaohui right away. After mulling it over, he found Long’s number from Ruyi Company and dialed.

The call connected after just a ring and a half. Long answered, adopting a humble tone. "Is this Mr. Lin? Do you have any instructions for me?"

"I wouldn’t dare give you instructions," Lin Jian replied. "Long, I just wanted to ask you something. For a company like Ruyi Business Consulting Company, what kind of documents do you need for business registration? Are there agencies that can handle it for you?"

"Does Mr. Lin mean you want to open a company like Ruyi?" Long was smart and caught on immediately.

"Pretty much. I want to set up a company for fun. Your boss just gave me eight million, and the money is just sitting there."

Long sucked air through his teeth. This guy was really rubbing it in after getting such a sweet deal. What a jerk!

"If you want to start a company, you might as well take over Ruyi. We’re about to deregister it anyway. If you take over, all we have to do is change the legal representative. Plus, the office rent is paid for more than half a year, and all the licenses and tax documents are fully sorted."

"Oh? You’re shutting Ruyi down? Why?" Lin Jian asked in confusion.

"I heard it’s the big boss’s idea—Master San’s orders. We don’t know the reason either."

"Alright then. It’s too late today. I’ll swing by your company tomorrow so we can talk in detail. Sound good?"

"Sure, no problem," Long said, before hanging up.

Only after hanging up did Lin Jian call Xu Xiaohui.

Meanwhile, Long walked up to Chen Zhiyuan and reported, "Master San, Lin Jian just called to ask about business registration. He wants to open a consulting firm just like Ruyi. I was thinking of letting him take over Ruyi. What do you think?"

"Start a company? Take over Ruyi?"

Master Chen was still at the reservoir courtyard. Hearing Long’s words, he pondered for a moment before saying, "Just change the legal representative then. Give it all to him, free of charge. Also, if there’s anything he doesn’t understand about the business, you can guide him.

"Tell you what, try to stay on and work for him. If he pays you a salary, I’ll continue paying your current salary on my end. That way, you’ll be earning double."

"Ah... this..."

Hearing Master San’s words, Long was completely bewildered. What did Master San mean by this?

Chen Zhiyuan merely continued, "He’s new to this industry. Keep an eye on him and offer him some pointers so he doesn’t take the wrong path. Understand?"

"Understood. Understood." Long nodded repeatedly. It seemed Master San hadn’t given up on Lin Jian and was still trying to recruit him.

At seven o’clock that evening, Lin Jian and Xu Xiaohui met at a small diner not far from the Recovery Group.

Xu Xiaohui was supposed to be on duty, so he had sneaked out. Likewise, Lin Jian was technically on shift too. However, since he was the deputy supervisor and even the president left him alone, no one could do anything about his absence.

"Hui, let’s skip the drinks tonight. I just have one thing to say," Lin Jian began. "I’m setting up a business consulting company, and I want you to come help me."

"Huh?" Xu Xiaohui froze. Just this morning they had been brainstorming what to do with their lives, and by evening he was starting a company?

"What exactly does a business consulting company do?" he asked.

Lin Jian scratched his head. "I just looked it up on Baidu. The scope is extremely broad. It can offer all sorts of consulting services. For example, if you want to take on a construction project, I can point you to where the work is.

"If you want to run an advertisement, I can help you plan it. If you want to invest, I’ll help you pick a company. If you need translation, want to go abroad, travel, or get a visa, we can provide consulting for all of that.

"To put it bluntly, it’s just being a middleman.

"But there’s a consulting firm I know of that doesn’t actually do any of that. If you only relied on those typical services, the company would go bankrupt in a few days.

"Because of that, a lot of these business consulting companies are actually just fronts.

"The firm I know mainly helps people collect debts and things like that.

"Of course, I’m not starting this company to collect debts. I want to use your special skills to develop our business. For instance, you’re great at reconnaissance. The cases we take on could be missing persons, investigating extramarital affairs, or looking into people’s social connections.

"Also, even though my company isn’t officially established yet, I’ve already accepted a massive order to track down someone’s whereabouts. The client is paying a hefty sum for it."

Lin Jian lied. He didn’t want to admit it was his own personal matter, so he fabricated a fictitious client.

"So, I want you to bring Chuangzi and Tan Jian over to help me.

"As for compensation, aside from making you guys shareholders of the company, you’ll each get ten thousand a month. Food, accommodation, and travel expenses will be covered by the company, and we’ll also pay for your pension insurance.

"Basically, everything will be completely above board."

"Forget about the shares; ten thousand a month is more than enough. I’m in, and I know Chuangzi and Little Sword will be too," Xu Xiaohui agreed readily.

He was extremely straightforward. Besides, he was a loyal guy by nature. Just that morning, he had promised to follow Lin Jian, so there was no way he would back out now. Moreover, with Lin Jian offering both a generous salary and company shares, what reason was there to refuse?

Perhaps the company would go under before long, but it was still considered an entrepreneurial venture. It would be a chance to gain experience. They were still young. They had to take risks and forge their own path for a few years. Otherwise, if they just worked as security guards for years, they’d amount to nothing.

"Great! Then hand in your resignations directly after work tomorrow. I’ll have Liu Fei talk to the company," Lin Jian said.

"Also, after you quit, you’ll probably have to live at the new office. It’s on the second floor and it’s spacious enough."

"Sure, arrange it however you see fit. We’ll leave together after work tomorrow and hash out the details," Xu Xiaohui said.

"Then go back and have a good chat with Chuangzi and Little Sword. If either of them disagrees, don’t force them. Even if this deal doesn’t work out, we’re still brothers."

"Understood. I’ll head out now."

With that, Xu Xiaohui stood up.

"Let’s go together. I need to get back to the company too. President Ye is waiting for me. I’m driving her home tonight."

Lin Jian had indeed called Ye Ziqiu earlier, telling her not to leave in a hurry so they could go back together that evening. Ye Ziqiu had agreed over the phone, whispering that she would wait for him. It seemed like she had wanted to say something else, but held back.

"Then you’ll have to resign tomorrow too, right? How did you end up becoming President Ye’s driver?"

Xu Xiaohui was beyond surprised. This Lin Jian was really something! He had only been here for a few days, and he was already the president’s driver?

"I’m not resigning. You guys can handle running the company. I have to stay here and keep working as the security supervisor. I promised President Ye."

Xu Xiaohui was speechless. He wondered why Lin Jian would start his own company only to keep working as a security guard. Was the man out of his mind?

However, thinking about driving around a gorgeous female president... if it were him, he wouldn’t want to resign either.
