Chapter 92: Easily Resolved

The Young Master just tapped his toes, and his entire body seemed to defy the laws of nature and gravity, springing up like a great bird.

In traditional martial arts, this move was known as the Eagle Pouncing on a Rabbit, incorporating both a top-down strike and a grappling technique. No matter how fast the rabbit ran, it could never escape the eagle’s talons!

However, Lin Jian had no intention of fleeing. His fingers were still intertwined with Ye Ziqiu’s, and she was right behind him! He could easily dodge, but what about her?

Faced with the Young Master’s strike, Lin Jian had only one option: Mind Control! It was true that he desperately wanted to avoid killing anyone in front of Ye Ziqiu. But against a master of the Young Master’s caliber, holding back was not an option. A single misstep meant death.

The very instant the Young Master’s toe tapped the coffee table, a fruit knife in the kitchen slid out of its block on its own. It hovered in the air before shooting forward like a streak of cold light! Suspended mid-air in his pounce, the Young Master saw the approaching glint of the blade but had no leverage to dodge.

The strike was impossibly fast. Before he could fully react, the blade pierced his temple with a sickening SQUELCH! It sank in all the way to the hilt. The fruit knife was over twenty centimeters long; plunged entirely into his head, the tip nearly poked out from his other temple. In that fleeting second, the Young Master’s consciousness faded, and his body plummeted to the floor with a heavy THUMP!

PHEW. Silence returned to the pitch-black room. Ye Ziqiu’s heart was pounding wildly—THUMP, THUMP, THUMP! She had no idea what had just happened because she couldn’t see a thing. But why was the assassin suddenly so quiet?

At that moment, Lin Jian took a deep breath. "Old Ye, hug the wall and go upstairs, or hide in the kitchen. There’s another one outside!"

"What about the guy who was just talking?" she whispered. "Why did he stop? Where is he hiding?" Ye Ziqiu didn’t think the man was dead or injured—after all, Lin Jian hadn’t even moved. He had been holding her hand this entire time.

Lin Jian inhaled sharply. "He’s hiding in the dark. I’m going to drag him out. You go hide in the kitchen. Go, now!" As he spoke, he suddenly slipped his hand free and gave her a smack on the rear! Reflexively, Ye Ziqiu hugged the wall and scurried toward the kitchen, entirely forgetting to scold him for the inappropriate swat.

The moment she reached the kitchen, Lin Jian strode over to the Young Master and hoisted the body over his shoulder. Blood had already pooled on the floor, but there was nothing he could do about it right now. He would just have to clean it up when he got back!

"Old Ye, stay put and don’t move. Don’t call the police yet, either. Wait until I get back." With that, Lin Jian bolted out the door, carrying the Young Master’s corpse.

Da Kuan was hiding just outside the courtyard. He had two jerry cans of gasoline by his side and was waiting for the Young Master’s signal! However, instead of a signal, he saw Lin Jian running off into the distance with a person slung over his shoulder.

"Wait, that’s the Young Master!" Da Kuan thought, shocked. He abandoned the gasoline cans, leaped up, and gave chase!

In reality, Lin Jian hadn’t run far, nor did he intend to leave the neighborhood. There were surveillance cameras everywhere outside, and the main roads were bustling with cars. Even if he could use Invisibility for three minutes, how far could he realistically get? He simply didn’t want to fight the Giant in Ye Ziqiu’s courtyard.

Fortunately, the Green City Villa District boasted the most extensive vegetation of any high-end residential area in Jiang City. With a greening rate of over eighty percent, it was practically a forest. Thus, Lin Jian had merely ducked into a nearby thicket of trees. Less than seventy meters past these trees lay East Lake, Jiang City’s most famous scenic spot.

By this point, Lin Jian had yanked the fruit knife out of the Young Master’s temple. In the blink of an eye, his entire body vanished into Invisibility! Moments later, the Giant caught up, scanning his surroundings with utmost vigilance.

Suddenly, the Giant felt a faint breeze brush past his ear! He instinctively jerked his head to the side to dodge. But in the exact instant he moved, the fruit knife pierced straight through his temple as well—a fatal strike!

Lin Jian didn’t leave anyone alive. He wasn’t about to let the Giant collect the Young Master’s corpse or anything of the sort. He didn’t know the Giant’s temper, and he knew all too well the consequences of leaving a threat alive to bite back later! Releasing a vengeful enemy was not the act of a wise man. Since he had already started killing, he was going to wipe them out completely, leaving no survivors.

The Giant’s massive body slumped into Lin Jian’s arms. Hoisting him up, Lin Jian returned to where he had dropped the Young Master, scooped up the second corpse under his arm, and swiftly navigated through the thicket toward the edge of East Lake. Naturally, he wasn’t in a rush to dump the bodies into the water. Instead, he carefully retraced his exact route from the villa in his mind, making absolutely sure he hadn’t been caught on any surveillance cameras. Fortunately, with the aid of his Thought, he had expertly evaded every camera, sticking entirely to their blind spots.

He carefully concealed the corpses behind some bushes by East Lake, then sprinted back to the villa to retrieve the two jerry cans of gasoline. A short while later, just outside the Green City Villa District by the shores of East Lake, a roaring fire blazed into life! This particular spot was neither part of the scenic area nor within the villa district’s boundaries. Even if the flames grew wild, fire engines wouldn’t be able to reach it. And even if they did manage to arrive, the two corpses would likely be nothing more than charred crisps by then. Having set the fire, Lin Jian quickly made his way back to the villa.

The moment he stepped into the courtyard, he used his Thought to scan the interior. He found Ye Ziqiu still squatting in the kitchen, clutching her phone. She seemed to be debating whether or not to call the police. CREAK. As the front door opened, Ye Ziqiu’s heart leaped into her throat!

But soon, Lin Jian’s voice rang out. "Old Ye, it’s okay! I’m back. They’re all gone!"

"Ah? It’s over?" she stammered. "Should... should we call the police?" Ye Ziqiu was completely at a loss. She had been weighing the pros and cons of calling the police for what felt like an eternity.

Lin Jian thought for a moment and said, "Old Ye, calling the police won’t do any good.

"They were assassins—hired killers. Even if we involve the authorities, they won’t be able to trace this back to the employer."

"Where are they now?" Ye Ziqiu asked urgently. "Come here, quickly. I’m scared."

Lin Jian strode into the kitchen, and Ye Ziqiu instantly threw herself into his arms! He could feel her heart hammering wildly against his chest, strong and frantic. Her body was ice-cold, and she was shivering violently. After all, she was just an ordinary woman. To suddenly find assassins ambushing her in her own home, declaring their intent to kill her—what woman wouldn’t be terrified?

"Don’t be scared, it’s okay," Lin Jian soothed, gently patting her back. "I crippled the assassins’ martial arts. They won’t be coming back."

"Really?" she murmured. "Promise me... promise me you won’t leave me from now on..." Her voice was tiny. Pressed against Lin Jian’s chest, all she could feel was how warm, broad, and powerful he was. Being protected by such a strong, capable man gave her an immense sense of security.

"I promise. I won’t leave you!" Lin Jian answered her solemnly.

"But right now, you need to go upstairs to your room. I’m going to fix the breaker and clean up the living room a bit. The assassins made a mess."

"No, I... I want to stay with you!" She was too frightened to be separated from him for even a second.
