Chapter 95: Buying Another House

At some point during their chat, Ye Ziqiu had drifted off to sleep.

Even though Lin Jian was sleeping on the floor right beside her bed, she felt completely at ease. An unprecedented sense of security allowed her to sleep incredibly soundly.

The next day, after dropping Ye Ziqiu off at her company, Lin Jian drove straight to the Green City Real Estate sales office.

He had planned to buy a house in Green City before, but it had fallen through for various reasons. Now, with over ten million in cash sitting in his bank account, it was the perfect time to buy a property there. As the saying went, a smart man always had a backup plan. Since he had the money and didn’t know how to invest in anything else, buying a few properties seemed like a solid choice.

The staff and managers at the Green City Properties sales office didn’t recognize him, but since he had pulled up in a Ferrari, they welcomed him with the utmost enthusiasm.

"You’re Advisor Ma, right?" Lin Jian shook the saleswoman’s hand and got straight to the point. "I’m looking for a high-rise apartment. It needs to be fully furnished and move-in ready. Ideally, I want it above the fifteenth floor—nothing below that, and no penthouses."

"How much space do you need, Mr. Lin? How many people in your household?" Advisor Ma asked warmly, handing him a bottle of water.

"Around a hundred square meters should be fine," Lin Jian replied.

Advisor Ma thought for a moment. "Our move-in ready apartments around a hundred square meters are completely sold out. That includes anything under a hundred square meters. We also have virtually zero availability above the fifteenth floor. However..." She paused, considering. "There’s a rather large single-floor luxury apartment in Building 33. The previous transaction hasn’t been finalized over the past couple of days. Would you be interested in taking a look?"

"A large single-floor apartment? How big is it?" Lin Jian asked, intrigued.

"A little over two hundred and seventy square meters."

"That big?!" Lin Jian was astounded. Two hundred and seventy square meters for a single floor? That was massive.

"It’s not even the largest one. The biggest units have already been sold," Advisor Ma said with a smile. "Green City Properties’ reputation, property management, and everything else are absolutely top-tier in Jiang City. Moreover, the surrounding commercial district is fully developed. Not only can you see the bustling shopping streets from the building, but you also get a beautiful view of East Lake."

"What floor is it on? Can I go see it?"

"It’s on the twenty-fifth floor. And of course! I can take you there right now."

"Alright." Lin Jian nodded. Advisor Ma grabbed the keys and had the company’s electric golf cart driver take them to Building 33.

There was no doubt about the landscaping at Green City Properties; the environment here was truly world-class.

As soon as Lin Jian followed Advisor Ma up to the twenty-fifth floor, he instantly fell in love with the sprawling apartment. The massive floor-to-ceiling windows offered a view of half of East Lake, giving anyone standing in front of them a commanding sense of being on top of the world. Furthermore, the interior design and furnishings aligned perfectly with his tastes. It had a light luxury aesthetic, featuring observation balconies on both the north and south sides—perfect for drinking tea and chatting.

The layout included five bedrooms, two living rooms, and three bathrooms. Naturally, the five rooms didn’t all have to be used as bedrooms; they could easily be converted into display rooms, home gyms, or anything else.

"How much is it in full?" After looking around, Lin Jian immediately decided to lock this place down as quickly as possible.

"For full payment, it’s 14.88 million," Advisor Ma directly quoted the final price.

Hearing it was over fourteen million, Lin Jian’s head buzzed. It was insanely expensive. However, Green City Properties was generally priced higher than other residential areas anyway, let alone a fully furnished luxury flat of this size.

"Ahem, is there any room for a discount?" Lin Jian’s wallet ached, and worse, he didn’t have enough money! The house he had previously bought outright at Donghu Imperial Garden hadn’t been cheap either, totaling around three million. Because of that, he only had about thirteen million left in his bank account—leaving him short by over a million.

"Mr. Lin, this is our final discounted price. However, we can include household appliances like a refrigerator and television. Oh, and we’ll also gift you a ten-year usage right for an underground parking space."

"Oh, then I..."

Just as Lin Jian was about to say he needed to think about it, the front door was pushed open. Another saleswoman walked in, leading several clients.

Lin Jian frowned. "Advisor Ma, what is the meaning of this?"

"I apologize, Mr. Lin." Advisor Ma gave him an apologetic look. "Wang Qian probably didn’t know I brought you here. Excuse me, I’ll go talk to them."

However, before Advisor Ma could even speak to the saleswoman named Wang Qian, one of the new clients loudly declared, "I’ll take this house. No haggling. Let’s go back and write up the contract. And don’t bring anyone else to see it again!"

As the man spoke, he cast a wary glance at Lin Jian.

Lin Jian’s face darkened. Was the Green City sales office pulling some kind of scarcity marketing scheme?

"Advisor Ma, I was here first. What kind of stunt is your sales office trying to pull?" Lin Jian demanded.

"Sir, I’m sorry, but as long as a house hasn’t been finalized in a transaction, other customers are free to view it." Wang Qian wore a faint, almost mocking smile as she continued in a highly professional tone. "Furthermore, our policy is based on whoever finalizes the deal first."

"Wang Qian, Mr. Lin was here first, and we’ve already reached an agreement. We were just about to go back and finalize the deal. What are you playing at?" Advisor Ma was getting anxious. A house worth over fourteen million would yield a massive commission for her. She obviously wasn’t going to stand by while Wang Qian poached her client.

"Heh, Ma Yuanyuan, you clearly don’t understand the situation. Mr. Xu has already viewed this house before, and he brought his family over today. So, your client will just have to queue up behind Mr. Xu. Besides, President Wang knew about this long ago, and Mr. Xu was actually referred here by President Wang. So, my apologies."

Hearing that the client was referred by President Wang, Ma Yuanyuan’s expression dimmed. President Wang was the general manager of the sales office.

At that moment, the client, Mr. Xu, smiled. "Apologies to you both, but please leave. This house is already ours."

Lin Jian was so angry he laughed, but he also pulled out his phone.

Honestly, he hadn’t wanted to bother Jiang Xue. After all, Jiangnan had previously sent someone to give him a house—completely free of charge. But he had refused it at the time. If he called Jiang Xue now to cash in a favor, wouldn’t Jiangnan laugh at him once he found out?

Well, let him laugh. He had to deal with the situation in front of him first, because these people were being absolutely disgusting.

He dialed Jiang Xue’s number.

"Oh? What made Lin decide to call me?" Over the phone, Jiang Xue sounded surprised. It was truly unexpected for Lin Jian to reach out to her on his own initiative.

"Ahem, Jiang Xue, are we friends?" Lin Jian chuckled dryly.

"Hmm... I suppose we are, for now. But just spit it out. Don’t try to play me. I’m not that easy to fool!" Jiang Xue sensed he was up to no good, so she went on high alert.

"Alright, well, your friend is in trouble. I’m trying to buy a house here at your Green City property, and someone just swooped in out of nowhere to hijack my deal and piss me off. You owe me compensation for emotional distress over this."

"What are you talking about? I don’t understand," Jiang Xue said, confused.

"Fine, I’m throwing my pride out the window today!" Lin Jian simply gritted his teeth and said, "Your friend Lin wants you to call the Green City sales office right now and tell them this house is mine. Can you do it or not? Give me a straight answer!"

"You’re at the Green City sales office?" Jiang Xue asked in astonishment.

"I’m in Building 33, Unit 2, on the 25th floor. Their manager is here too."

What Lin Jian really meant was for her to call their manager, throw her weight around as the wealthy heiress, and crush those bastards!

"Ha!" Jiang Xue let out a laugh over the phone. "Do you think we’re destined by fate? I’m currently in Building 31. I stayed here last night. Wait for me, I’ll be there in three minutes!"
