Chapter 96: Bad Choice of Friends

After Lin Jian finished his call, everyone in the room was staring at him. They had all been listening to his conversation.

Advisor Ma had heard the name Jiang Xue, but she had no idea who that was. She also caught the words "Green City Real Estate" and "your family’s." Still, she couldn’t figure out Jiang Xue’s identity.

Wang Qian, on the other hand, was even more dismissive. There was no one with the surname Jiang at Green City Properties. So whether it was Jiang Xue or Jiang Bing, this guy was purely putting on an act!

However, right at that moment, a plump manager arrived with some staff members!

"Mr. Xu, I’m so sorry I’m late!" The plump man immediately shook hands with Mr. Xu the moment he entered the room.

Mr. Xu smiled. "President Wang, you’re so busy. How could you come in person?"

"Oh, please. You are an honored guest of Green City, Mr. Xu. How could I dare neglect you?" President Wang then looked at Wang Qian and asked, "Wang, how is the viewing going?"

"Mr. Xu has already decided to close the deal, but Ma Yuanyuan brought another client."

"President Wang, Mr. Lin was here first, and he’s already decided to buy it!" Ma Yuanyuan hurriedly interjected.

President Wang paused for a moment before taking the initiative to extend his hand. "Mr. Lin, I am so sorry about this mix-up. The truth is, there was already an intent to purchase this property. Advisor Ma wasn’t aware of the specifics and brought you over to see it. I truly apologize."

President Wang was a shrewd man. He didn’t bother arguing with Lin Jian and simply chalked it up to a misunderstanding. He was the one who had introduced Mr. Xu to this property. Even though this was Mr. Xu’s first time here, President Wang had to claim that Mr. Xu had visited yesterday!

It wasn’t a big deal anyway. Since the transaction hadn’t been finalized, the sales office had the final say! As he spoke, he held his hand out toward Lin Jian.

However, Lin Jian had absolutely no intention of shaking his hand. Instead, he said coldly, "I’m taking this house today."

President Wang’s expression immediately darkened. As the dignified general manager of Green City’s sales office, he had condescended to shake Lin Jian’s hand, yet this man had the audacity to brush him off and shamelessly demand the house?

"Mr. Lin, the house has already been sold to someone else. Are you trying to force a sale? Hah, this is the first time I’ve ever heard of someone trying to force a purchase at Green City. The sun must be rising from the west!" President Wang said coldly. "Advisor Ma, please escort Mr. Lin out!"

Advisor Ma felt wronged, but she had to force a smile as she looked at Lin Jian. "Mr. Lin, I’m truly sorry. I can help you look at a few other high-rise units, or even some pre-owned houses listed with us. I can provide recommendations."

Right then, the elevator doors chimed open. Before Jiang Xue even stepped out, her loud voice echoed down the hall. "Lin, didn’t my dad offer to give you a house a few days ago? I heard you turned it down. Why did you suddenly decide to buy one today? Do you just enjoy being a sucker? Are you rich folks really this careless with money?"

President Wang’s mouth hung half-open. Wasn’t this the eldest miss? The young lady of the Sanjiang Group, a board director holding a twenty-five percent stake! Green City Properties was merely a subsidiary under the Sanjiang Group umbrella.

As a mid-to-lower-level manager, President Wang had been fortunate enough to see President Jiang a few times, as well as this wealthy socialite, so she had left a deep impression on him!

Lin Jian rolled his eyes. "I’ve got my eye on this house. Give me a discount!"

"Why should I give you a discount?" Jiang Xue smirked.

"Chairman Jiang, hello, hello." President Wang finally snapped out of his daze. He quickly trotted over to Jiang Xue, bowing and scraping as he extended both hands.

Jiang Xue reached out a single hand and lightly touched President Wang’s. "You’re Wang... Wang, right?"

Hearing how Jiang Xue addressed President Wang, Lin Jian almost spat blood! The others in the room also suddenly realized that the way she dragged out her words made it sound exactly like she was calling him a "little bastard"...

"Can you sell it at half price?" Lin Jian boldly demanded.

"Why don’t I just give it to you for free?"

Although Jiang Xue was a wealthy young lady who didn’t manage the company, she was no fool! She glared at Lin Jian in annoyance. "You refused the house my dad offered you, and now you come to me asking for a discount? You’re sick in the head! Truly sick!"

Lin Jian chuckled. If she really dared to offer it at half price, he wouldn’t dare buy it anyway. That would be too massive of a favor, one he wouldn’t be able to repay.

Turning back to President Wang, Jiang Xue ordered, "Manager Wang, sell the house to Lin Jian according to the company’s standard pricing and discount policies. There’s no need for special treatment."

With that, she shot a cold look at Lin Jian. "Come outside with me!"

Lin Jian quickly followed Jiang Xue out into the hallway, while back in the room, President Wang began explaining the situation to Mr. Xu and the others.

Out in the corridor, Jiang Xue pulled out a bank card. "There’s about five million on this. Use it for now. As for the house discount, since I don’t participate in company management, it’s not my place to interfere. But I can lend you the money—and frankly, I’m hoping you won’t be able to pay me back."

"Keep dreaming! I’ll pay you back in three days!" Lin Jian snatched the bank card from her hand. "I only need it for an emergency, otherwise I’d never borrow from you!"

"How can someone borrowing money be so arrogant? I’ve really made a poor choice in friends. I’m ignoring you now!" Jiang Xue turned on her heel and stepped into the elevator.

Her emotions were a bit turbulent today. Ever since Lin Jian leaned in to whisper in her ear, the Little Wild Cat’s heart had been a fluttery mess.

Lin Jian was quite detestable—a huge pervert who constantly talked back and opposed her at every turn! Yet, there was something addictive about him. His rogue-like free spirit and uninhibited nature ironically made people want to be around him even more.

Because when she was with him, she felt truly relaxed and incredibly happy!
