Chapter 99: Debt Collection List
Chapter 99: Debt Collection List
"Wow, this is absolutely beautiful!"
Standing in the new apartment on the twenty-fifth floor, Ye Ziqiu felt completely refreshed and relaxed. The atmosphere here was completely different from the villa.
The villa didn’t have such an expansive view. Even though it was also close to East Lake, you couldn’t actually see the water from there. But here, just standing by the window, she could see the rippling blue waters of East Lake and the verdant mountains in the distance. She could even spot the villa complex they had just left.
Green City High-rise and Green City Villa were developed by the same company, separated by only a single road. Right now, Ye Ziqiu was extremely satisfied with this high-rise residence. From now on, she wouldn’t have to worry about anyone standing outside her window.
"Old Ye, come take a look at your room!"
Lin Jian had already finished tidying up Ye Ziqiu’s room. She quickly trotted over. At this moment, she looked just like a young wife moving into her new home, her face beaming with surprise and anticipation.
The room Lin Jian gave her was the master bedroom. It faced south and came with an en-suite bathroom and a walk-in closet. Above all, the space inside could be described in one word: massive!
Curious, Ye Ziqiu looked around, then sat on the bed and bounced a couple of times in satisfaction. Finally, she shot Lin Jian an approving glance.
A short while later, the workers left, and Lin Jian started mopping the floor and cleaning the apartment. The place was so huge that they would definitely need to hire a maid; otherwise, he’d never be able to keep up with the chores. As for Ye Ziqiu, she simply decided not to return to the company, choosing instead to spend the entire afternoon cleaning up alongside him.
They both ordered takeout for dinner. However, since the residential community’s security was exceptionally strict, Lin Jian had to run down to the mailroom to pick it up.
"Did you rent this place or buy it?" Ye Ziqiu finally remembered to ask while they were eating.
"I bought it. Just this morning."
"What? You bought it? Then... then... it cost over ten million?" Ye Ziqiu was absolutely stunned.
"A bit over eleven million. The total comes to around twelve million."
Ye Ziqiu was left speechless for a moment. Then, she gave him a peculiar look. "Don’t go around telling people you’re a security guard at our company. You’ll get beaten up."
Lin Jian sighed in frustration. "I’m dead broke again, so I have to figure out a way to make some money tonight!"
"What do you mean?" Ye Ziqiu frowned. "You’re going to figure out a way to make money tonight?"
She didn’t understand what Lin Jian meant by that.
"Jiang City’s Ghost Market, after midnight!" Lin Jian smiled. "It’s a street where antiques are bought and sold, but they only open for business after twelve."
"A place like that exists?" Ye Ziqiu asked in great surprise.
"Yeah, there’s quite a lot of good stuff in there, but finding it depends entirely on your own eye."
"Your eye shouldn’t be a problem. Xue’Er told me you’ve become a dark horse in the antique circle."
"Of course. I have the Eyes of Golden Flame!" Lin Jian boasted.
"Heh, I’m done chatting with you. I’m going to take a shower, and then I need to use the computer to handle some overseas emails." Ye Ziqiu said, turning back to her room.
Lin Jian quickly followed her, flashing a mischievous grin. "How about I help scrub your back..."
"Why are you such a pervert? Don’t come any closer! Stop right there, don’t move!" Ye Ziqiu spun around, glaring at him with a stern face. She couldn’t help but wonder if moving out to live with this big pervert was a terrible mistake.
Lin Jian chuckled. "I’m kidding, just kidding. You take your shower and handle your emails at home. I need to go back and check on my company tonight. I haven’t shown my face there all day."
"Alright, but make sure you lock the door properly and take your keys. I won’t open the door if anyone knocks."
Being on the twenty-fifth floor, no one could get in without the keys. It was extremely safe.
"Relax, it’ll be fine."
After saying his goodbyes, Lin Jian turned and headed downstairs, while Ye Ziqiu went to take her shower.
Forty minutes later, Lin Jian arrived at Ruyi Company. The lights on the second floor were still on, the roller shutter door on the first floor hadn’t been pulled down yet, and he could hear the sound of talking and laughing coming from inside.
Lin Jian pushed the door open and headed upstairs. Hearing the footsteps, Huang Mao craned his neck to peek downstairs.
"Lin is here," Huang Mao quickly called out from afar.
"Huang Mao, should I call you Four-Eyes from now on, or keep calling you Huang Mao?" Lin Jian asked with a chuckle as he walked up.
Huang Mao scratched his head in embarrassment. "Lin can call me whatever makes you happy."
"Ah, Cyan Dragon is here too." By the time Lin Jian reached the top of the stairs, he saw Wang Qinglong, also known as Long, as well as Xu Xiaohui, Wang Chuang, and Tan Jian.
Everyone stood up and greeted him.
"Big boss, you’re a bit too negligent as a boss, aren’t you?" Xu Xiaohui said, not knowing whether to laugh or cry. "It’s the first day of the company’s grand opening, and you didn’t even show your face."
"Well, I’m here now, aren’t I?" Lin Jian felt a bit embarrassed, but far too much had happened over the past day and night. He had been tied up with endless tasks.
"Boss, we took on two orders today," Long said, handing over a notebook.
"Orders? What kind of orders?" When Lin Jian started this company, he hadn’t planned on taking any business in the early stages. He merely wanted to get the company up and running first, leaving the specific operations to be figured out later.
"There’s a business called Haoxin Living Materials Company. They were suspended for rectification last month because they failed a fire safety inspection. They’ve finished the rectifications now but are required to wait three months to reopen. Haoxin doesn’t want to wait that long—the losses would simply be too great. So, they found us, hoping we could pull some strings for them."
Lin Jian flipped open the notebook to review the specifics, then gave them a strange look. "I don’t really understand our company’s specific business operations yet, but are you sure you can successfully pull this off?"
Wang Qinglong laughed. "Anyone else might fail, but this punk Huang Mao can definitely get it done!" He pointed at Huang Mao. "This guy’s sister’s husband is the captain of the Lin’an District Fire Brigade. It just takes a single phone call!"
"Yeah, I’ve already made the call. The suspension could be lifted tomorrow, but I told my sister’s husband to push it to three days from now.
"If we get it done too quickly, they might think it wasn’t worth the money they spent, so we’re stalling them for three days."
This guy Huang Mao was incredibly shrewd, even knowing to stall the client! Lin Jian wasn’t familiar with all the complex maneuvers in the business world, but he knew Huang Mao was right. If you solved someone’s problem too effortlessly, they’d feel ripped off. Besides, this order was worth a hundred thousand yuan! A single phone call, three days of waiting, and a hundred thousand yuan was in the bag!
Since Huang Mao handled this deal, his bonus wouldn’t be small. Naturally, the company had established bylaws regarding specific matters and reward standards; they just had to follow the existing rules.
"The second order is for debt collection," Long added.
Lin Jian raised an eyebrow. "I remember explicitly saying at the dinner table yesterday that we wouldn’t take these kinds of orders, right?"
"I took it." Xu Xiaohui braced himself and walked over. "The client had already arrived. Besides, I think since we’re in this line of work and operating legally, there’s no reason we can’t take on debt collection as long as we don’t break the law!"
Looking at Xu Xiaohui’s earnest expression, Lin Jian let out a soft, internal sigh. Xu Xiaohui was clearly anxious to prove himself and produce results. Huang Mao and Long had achieved results today, instantly earning a hundred thousand yuan to kick off the business. What about the other three? They certainly wanted to score a goal of their own, desperate to achieve something to prove their worth.
Lin Jian didn’t say anything further; instead, he flipped the notebook open to take a look.
The target debt was 4.09 million yuan, owed by a construction firm for materials. If they successfully helped the client recover the money, they would receive a ten percent commission! In other words, by collecting this debt, they would net a pure profit of 409,000 yuan!
No wonder Xu Xiaohui had taken the job. The profit margins in debt collection were simply too high to resist.
