AFTERWORD

First, I’d like to offer my heartfelt thanks to everyone who purchased this book. I’ll continue to look forward to your support, both from those for whom this is their first reading and those for whom it is not.

The Irregular at Magic High School is a series that features quite a lot of characters, but I think the Visitor arc is the first time a character I could call a “guest heroine” has appeared. This is the first time a blonde-haired, blue-eyed female character has appeared as well.

Regarding this blonde-haired girl, a rarity for this series, I had a conversation with my editor during a meeting for Volume 9 that went something like this:

Editor: “I really like incompetent but beautiful characters.”

Me: “Lina is more like a malfunctioning beauty than an incompetent beauty, but you’re right, they really are cute.”

This was how we decided on a new character trait for Lina. Well, she was originally made to be a somewhat unfortunate character outside of battle scenes, but she wasn’t this bad… But it’s cute, right?

In terms of character changes, Mitsugu Kuroba, who had a sullen (?) highlight in this book, also now has a screw loose. To tell the truth, it’s because of the drama DVD. The actor who voiced Mitsugu had a really nice ad lib, which renewed my image of his character.

The actor’s performances are great, though, aren’t they? I got a real sense for how it can have a synergistic effect on the original work.

Next time will be, at last, the final volume of the Visitor arc. Since this one ended with a “continued next time!” part three will have a big stack of stories, but please rest assured that I won’t make that one a “continued in the final volume!” I have a climax fitting the end of their freshman year coming up, so I look forward to your support for part three of the Visitor arc as well.
