Chapter 130: Chris Chen Shows His Power
Chapter 130: Chris Chen Shows His Power
Although Tianfeng Fourteen Lang’s five thousand men had lost more than half, there were still about 2000 elites available, including a unit of Undead Mages. He never expected that such a power ful team wouldn’t scare these reckless guys opposite him! If he had known this, he wouldn’t have given Diles to them no matter what. Wasn’t this a classic case of losing both the wife and the soldiers?
Realizing he had been tricked, Tianfeng Fourteen Lang flew into a rage out of humiliation and shouted, “Damn bastard, I will let you know the consequences of angering me! Attack!”
At Tianfeng Fourteen Lang’s command, a mixed unit of Demonkin and Horned Demons launched another attack. However, this time they learned their lesson. They charged in a very scattered formation, not as dense as before, clearly fearing Old Xie’s Goblin Mines.
Although the sparse formation wasn’t ideal for Goblin Mines, Old Xie still threw them out one by one to stop the enemy from approaching and effectively kill them. But the enemy had learned their lesson. As soon as they saw the black plates flying over, they immediately ran away. As a result, Old Xie only killed or injured a few dozen people each time, and the number decreased as he went on. After throwing eight mines, Old Xie couldn’t bear to throw any more. Killing only ten or so people was simply a waste!
“Prepare for close combat!” Old Xie said calmly, then turned to Arthas. “I’ll handle the melee units at the front. You take care of those dozen or so black robes, how about that?” Obviously, Old Xie was referring to those Undead Mages.
“Of course!” Arthas nodded. “Under the sunlight, these dark fellows will surely be destroyed!” Clearly, he was very confident in himself.
“Hehe, Archers are the most numerous ranged unit, yet they are always suppressed by Mages. I hope today you can prove for the Archer profession who the true King of Ranged Combat is!” Old Xie deliberately provoked him.
Hearing Old Xie elevate this battle to a matter of professional honor, Arthas knew it was a trap set by Old Xie, but he had to jump in with his eyes closed. Otherwise, wouldn’t it be admitting he wasn’t good enough? However, he didn’t want to let Old Xie off too easily, so he said sternly, “I will let you know that an Archer is always more powerful than a half-baked Mage like you!”
“Haha, we’ll see who is more powerful after we try!” Old Xie said, beginning to tighten his loose magic robe, preparing for the upcoming battle.
However, at this moment, Chris Chen, who had been silent, suddenly walked up to Old Xie, bowed, and said, “Young Master, please let me handle this battle!” As he spoke, his eyes revealed an extremely eager look. Clearly, having held it in for twenty years, Chris Chen couldn’t wait to use a battle to prove his worth.
Old Xie understood his feelings well and had long known about his formidable strength; otherwise, he wouldn’t have brought him along. So he smiled and said, “Very well, I’ll let you have this one. Let me see exactly how powerful the Explosive Bear Druid, known as one of the strongest Druids of the Elven race, is!”
“Yes, Young Master!” Chris Chen replied excitedly.
Then he abruptly turned around to face the charging thousand-plus Demonkin and Horned Demons. He had no fear whatsoever; instead, he was filled with passion for the fight. Then, they heard Chris Chen look up to the sky and roar, “Come out, my brother!”
With Chris Chen’s roar, a huge grizzly bear appeared out of thin air with a bang. This bear was massive; standing on its hind legs, it was over 6 meters tall, and even on all fours, it was over 3 meters long. It weighed at least a dozen tons. Its fur stood on end, glistening, making it look like a hedgehog.
Chris Chen then let out a roar similar to a bear’s, and his entire body suddenly transformed into a gray bear, identical in appearance and size to the summoned bear.
Subsequently, the two bears acted like long-lost relatives, standing up and hugging each other heavily. Their continuous roars were filled with the joy of reunion, moving everyone present.
Of course, they weren’t just being affectionate. As the two bears roared together, a faint energy line connected them. This was their incredibly powerful skill, Soul Link. With this spell, any damage suffered by one bear would be transferred to the other through the soul chain. In this way, to kill them, one would have to inflict fatal damage on both bears simultaneously. If the enemy’s attack was only enough to kill one bear, it would be useless.
With this spell, they effectively had an extra life. Years ago, Chris Chen relied on Soul Link to escape. Otherwise, with the terrible wounds he had suffered, he would have died many times over.
After their reunion, they landed back on the ground. Then, the giant bear transformed by Chris Chen let out a strange roar, and a red beam of energy shot from its mouth. Immediately after, a blood-red glow appeared on the claws of both bears.
This was a unique skill of Transformation Druids, the Berserk Spell. After casting, it greatly increased attack speed and power, similar to a weaker version of Berserk.
The bear opposite wasn’t idle either. While Chris Chen cast Berserk on them, it also roared and released the protective spell that Earth Element Magic Bears were best at, Stone Skin. A layer of gray viscous substance rose from the ground and covered them directly. This layer of viscous energy was two inches thick and extremely strong. In terms of defense alone, it was definitely not inferior to human refined steel armor. The only downside was that it had weight. If cast on someone with insufficient strength, like a Mage, it would probably crush them. So, generally, it was only cast on powerful Warriors and Magical Beasts.
Seeing this, the Elf Mage on the side couldn’t resist and cast ‘Living Armor’ on them. Countless vines suddenly grew on their bodies, looking like they were wearing green clothes.
Although Natural Element protective spells weren’t outstanding in terms of defense, they had two benefits. One was regeneration; the name ‘Living Armor’ wasn’t for nothing. If this armor was chopped up, it would quickly regrow to patch the defense hole. Unlike other magic armor, which would significantly lose protection after being broken a few times or even disappear, Living Armor could fully recover even if broken a hundred times, unless removed or the magic power was exhausted.
Additionally, Living Armor had some healing effects. It couldn’t handle serious injuries, but it could quickly treat lighter scratches. Moreover, Living Armor was very light and didn’t add much burden, making it one of the favorite magic armors for Warriors.
After all this commotion, the two extremely powerful Magical Beasts were ready. Although it sounded like a long time, it actually took very little time. After all, they were just a few instant spells, which didn’t take much time. Anyway, by the time they were fully prepared, the enemies opposite were still slowly charging, still dozens of meters away.
However, Chris Chen couldn’t wait any longer. He roared and led his bear brother to charge at the enemy. Two massive creatures weighing over a dozen tons ran wildly on the ground, shaking the earth like beating war drums.
Looking at the two large bears full of killing intent, even the usually fearless pirates were terrified and couldn’t help but stop in their tracks. But Chris Chen didn’t care about this at all. He urgently needed to vent all the grievances he had suffered over the past decade. So after running wildly, he suddenly stood up and slammed his palms down heavily. Two sturdy Horned Demons had no chance to react and were instantly smashed into a pile of minced meat.
You know, although Horned Demons were the size of adults and had sturdy bodies weighing around 200 jin, compared to the ten-ton Magic Explosive Giant Bear, they were clearly not in the same league! They were barely Level 2 Horned Demons; how could they be opponents for a Level 6 Magical Beast? Being instantly killed was only reasonable.
Chris Chen was obviously a person with rich combat experience. He knew his weakness: small numbers. He could easily be surrounded. Once surrounded by dense enemies, no matter how strong he was, he would be slowly worn down. So after killing two Horned Demons, Chris Chen didn’t stop at all. He let go of a few guys close by and instead rushed into the crowd, first killing a few Demonkin holding sharp weapons. He killed two and then changed positions, never staying in one place, never giving the enemy a chance to surround him.
Chris Chen’s bear also knew how to cooperate. Wherever Chris Chen went, it followed, not too close and not too far. In this way, they could freely swing their thick bear paws to sweep or chop without worrying about hurting each other. And if one was in danger, the other could quickly provide support.
