Chapter 198: Finding the Culprit
Chapter 198: Finding the Culprit
Old Xie knew he was in the wrong and didn’t want to argue with Lan Fake, so he said, “Alright, alright, my fault this time. But don’t worry, wait here. That little girl can’t have run far. I’ll catch her back for you to vent your anger!” After speaking, without waiting for Lan Fake to reply, he turned and ran.
“Damn, leaving me here to watch the house again?” Lan Fake complained from a distance.
Old Xie naturally ignored his complaints. He walked three steps as two, and finally simply used his lightness skill, moving like a wisp of green smoke, directly out of the Castle’s south gate. Because he knew that if the Siren ran, she would definitely go south. He had told her yesterday how to go home.
After arriving at the woods outside, he immediately let out a long, loud howl. Under his Magic Power, the sound truly shook a hundred miles. Soon, the Demon Explosive Spider, hearing Old Xie’s call, came running over.
The Wyvern King and Savage Bull King in the Castle had all been charmed into unconsciousness by the Siren, so Old Xie now could only rely on the Demon Explosive Spider living in the woods outside for transportation.
After climbing onto the Spider’s back, Old Xie smiled and said to the Spider, “A Siren ran out of the Castle last night, did you know?”
“Roar!” The Spider howled and nodded! Obviously, she had received the message delivered by her Underling below. But because the Siren was under Old Xie’s care, she thought it was one of their own and didn’t mind.
Old Xie naturally knew he couldn’t blame the Demon Explosive Spider for not stopping her, so he didn’t mention it. He just smiled bitterly and said, “Now I want to catch up to her. Can your nose smell the scent she left behind?”
“Roar!” The Spider howled and nodded, then directly spread its eight thick legs and chased straight south.
Old Xie chased furiously all the way. After leaving the woods and running for dozens of miles, he was surprised to find a clear trail on the ground. It looked as if a giant soft-bodied snake had crawled over. Walking a bit further, he saw broken scales in the trail. Later, there were even spots of shocking blood. Obviously, the Siren traveling this road had worn her fish-like lower body raw.
Following the blood-stained trail, Old Xie chased for a few more miles and finally discovered the Little Siren, who was already exhausted and on the verge of death. However, even though she was almost completely drained and her lower body was covered in blood, she was still firmly crawling forward with determination. In her arms, she was clutching the Mithril Goddess sculpture tightly.
Old Xie couldn’t help but shake his head and sigh at the sight. He slowly walked in front of her and smiled bitterly, “Why put yourself through this? I told you earlier, the Great Gobi isn’t easy to cross!”
“As long as the Human Race can walk, so can I!” the Siren said stubbornly.
“But humans have preparation!” Old Xie smiled bitterly. “ They have Mounts for transportation and large water carts. You are alone, with no water or food, and even holding a big burden. Is this crossing the Gobi? It’s simply seeking death!”
“Sigh!” The Siren knew she couldn’t go on. She stopped and said helplessly, “I thought I could use my Magic Power to create water in the Gobi, but I didn’t expect gathering water elements to be so difficult here. I only ran over a hundred miles using magic before my Magic Power ran out!”
“Hehe, it shows your strength is still too low!” Old Xie smiled, then jumped down from the Demon Explosive Spider’s back. He walked to her side, squatted down, checked her wounds, and then cast the Druid’s Healing Spell to treat her.
The Siren did not refuse Old Xie’s kindness, but she clutched the sculpture in her arms even tighter. Old Xie couldn’t help but find it funny and said, “Hey, that’s my thing. As a noble Star Elf, how can you steal your savior’s things and run away?”
“No, this is a treasure of us Star Elves!” the Siren said stubbornly. “Although taking it without asking is impolite, I am just taking back my clan’s possession. This is absolutely not stealing!”
“Hey, can you be reasonable?” Old Xie couldn’t help but smile bitterly. “My subordinate bought this and gave it to me. You say it’s yours, so it’s yours? Do you have evidence?”
The Siren didn’t waste words, just said with exceptional firmness, “Mine!”
“Wrong, it should be~”
Before Old Xie could finish speaking, the Siren directly interrupted, “Mine!”
“This~”
Old Xie only said one word of his next sentence when the Siren said again, “Mine!” Her tone became more determined each time.
Old Xie was speechless. In the end, he could only shake his head helplessly and smile bitterly, “You’re fierce! I like being unreasonable in this life, but you are even more unreasonable than me!”
“Mine!” The Siren still used this phrase to answer him.
If it were anyone else, daring to openly rob Old Xie’s things and arrogantly claim it was ‘hers’, Old Xie would definitely not waste words and directly kill them. But for some reason, facing this Little Siren’s pure gaze and determined expression, Old Xie not only didn’t feel any anger, but actually felt a sense of fondness. Perhaps this is the so-called connection of racial blood? As a member of the Star Elves Royal Family, Old Xie just couldn’t feel any malice towards this Siren who was openly robbing him.
“I surrender to you!” Old Xie finally had to smile bitterly, pointing at her face.
Then he picked her up and sat back on the Demon Explosive Spider together.
“Mine!” the Little Siren said again. By this time, the exhausted Siren was already somewhat unconscious. After saying this, she directly collapsed into Old Xie’s arms and passed out. However, even in her coma, her four arms still clutched the sculpture tightly, without any sign of relaxing. Old Xie tried to take the sculpture from her arms but found it impossible unless he broke her arms. So he had no choice but to let her be.
When they returned to the Castle, several hours had passed. By this time, under Lan Fake’s Witchcraft, most people had woken up. As soon as they saw Old Xie carrying back the culprit of this mass coma incident, the furious Lan Fake, Pars, and Shalas came over furiously to demand an explanation. Other victims also gathered around.
Seeing so many people surrounding him, Old Xie immediately widened his eyes and said, “What do you want?”
“Master, we want to teach this ungrateful fellow a lesson for you!” Pars hurriedly answered.
“That’s right!” Shalas also said angrily. “We worked hard to save her, but she took us all down. If someone had come to raid us yesterday, everyone in the Castle would have been gone!”
Others, whether Cyclops or Imps, all shouted, “Yes, we must teach this dead girl a lesson!”
“What are you shouting about?” Old Xie impatiently glared at them, then said, “You bunch of grown men, have the nerve to bully a poor little girl whose family is ruined?”
“This~” Hearing Old Xie say this, everyone remembered that this Little Siren’s background was indeed pitiful. Her village, hundreds of people, were all killed clean by the Church’s bastards, including her parents and siblings. Facing such a pitiful person who had suffered great hardship, they really couldn’t bring themselves to strike. But the anger in their hearts wouldn’t dissipate, so everyone was unwilling and stayed gathered around, not dispersing.
Seeing their hesitation, Old Xie continued to persuade, “Alright, alright, it’s no big deal anyway. Isn’t it just sleeping like the dead? Actually, let me tell you, you aren’t losing face at all!”
Hearing Old Xie say this, everyone was stunned. Pars couldn’t help but ask strangely, “Ah? Our entire Castle was taken down by her, isn’t that embarrassing enough? Respected Master, what do you mean?”
“Hehe!” Old Xie smiled slightly and said, “Think about it, even a Saint Domain Expert was taken down. What’s there to be ashamed of if you were schemed against?”
“Oh!” Everyone immediately felt it made sense. In fact, Old Xie wasn’t wrong. Even a Saint Domain Expert couldn’t escape the fate of being taken down, so what was shameful about them being charmed? Thinking this way, most people immediately felt balanced.
However, Lan Fake was the only one who wouldn’t let it go. He immediately jumped out and shouted angrily, “Good boy, aren’t you saying that out of the whole Castle, I’m the most embarrassing one?”
“Hehe!” Old Xie knew Lan Fake wouldn’t let it go, so he had a speech ready for him. After laughing, he directly said, “Why bother holding a grudge against a little girl? That would be beneath your status! Besides, don’t you want to know how she took you down?”
“Hmm!” Lan Fake thought about it after hearing this. He felt it was indeed beneath his status to hold a grudge against a little girl. Plus, he really wanted to know how he was taken down. So in the end, he could only helplessly shake his head and say, “Forget it, I can’t be bothered to argue with a little girl!” After speaking, he turned and left.
With him gone, the others had no reason to stay. Old Xie sent them away with a few words. Then he carried the Siren back to his room and placed her on the bed again.
Old Xie could tell that the Little Siren was just overly fatigued; she would be fine once she rested enough. However, speaking of which, Old Xie was also amazed by her abilities. Not to mention her taking down the entire Castle, just the fact that she could run over a hundred miles in one night was astonishing enough. You know, everyone knows Sirens are not suitable for moving on land, yet she still ran that far, which was truly shocking.
Just as Old Xie settled the Siren and came out, the Wyvern King sent out for scouting returned urgently. Old Xie knew from the Imp’s expression on its back that there was definitely more bad news!
