03: Let’s Study Magic part 1

 

There was something I thought every time Harold-oniisama used magic.

Those incantations are a little too much!

「O power of fire that dwells within me, come to my hand. Call forth light, banish shadow, and kindle a flame before me.」

I kept it to myself that this seemed awfully grandiose just to light a single candle.

Whether the spell was large or small, the incantations weren’t all that different. The same went for Father’s and Thomas-oniisama’s magic.

Once, the head maid came to Father because water had been spilled in the stove and the fire wouldn’t light. Father cast the spell himself.

「O power of fire that dwells within me, come to my hand. Kindle a flame to illuminate the abyssal darkness, and awaken ancient knowledge.」

Father sounded impressive as he recited the incantation in his deep, resonant voice… but all he did was light the stove.

Hmm…

Maybe I should try studying magic myself?
