Chapter 11: Very Bold
Chapter 11: Very Bold
Noticing Zhu Hui and the others secretly observing her, Yang Bingyu wasn’t coy in the slightest. She flashed a confident smile and addressed the four of them with natural grace.
"Hello, my name is Yang Bingyu. I’m Ye Xuan’s... um... employer."
She clearly paused when mentioning her relationship with Ye Xuan. She hadn’t known him for long; they couldn’t even be considered friends. After a moment of thought, she still felt that the word "employer" was the most appropriate way to describe herself.
Zhu Hui and the others experienced a slight change in expression upon hearing this, turning their heads to look at Ye Xuan uncertainly. How many people in Xia Country dared to call themselves Ye Xuan’s employer? What was this woman’s background?
"Ahem... You must be tired from the journey. This isn’t the place to talk. Let’s head to the hotel first." Ye Xuan’s eyes flickered as he smoothly changed the subject. He wasn’t sure yet if there was a mole among Zhu Hui’s group of four, so it was best to keep Yang Bingyu’s identity a secret for now.
The Yang family held a prominent position in Jianghai City, with their businesses spanning a wide range of industries. Yang Bingyu had already sorted out the accommodation for the Vermilion Bird Hall members, arranging for them to stay at a five-star hotel owned by the Yang family—the Lanshan Grand Hotel.
"Zhu Hui, what material are your clothes made of? Why does it feel like metal to the touch?"
Yang Bingyu was clearly a people person. All the way from the airport, she had been chatting with Zhu Hui and the others, intensely curious about everything she saw. She was simply too enthusiastic; even the usually aloof Zhu Hui couldn’t bring himself to ignore her.
Watching Yang Bingyu chatter away like a little sparrow, a faint, gentle light softened Ye Xuan’s eyes. If Chen Hao were still alive, he would surely be thrilled to see his lively and adorable younger sister. Unfortunately, there were no "ifs" in life.
"This outfit is made of nanomaterials," Zhu Hui replied expressionlessly, unable to withstand Yang Bingyu’s burning gaze. "Under normal conditions, it’s no different from ordinary clothing. But the moment it’s attacked, its hardness instantly increases, rendering it virtually invulnerable."
"Wow, it’s that amazing? This suit must be really expensive, right? Can it be mass-produced? If we sell this to those wealthy young heirs and heiresses, we could definitely make a killing!"
Yang Bingyu’s eyes immediately lit up after hearing Zhu Hui’s explanation. Her words left Ye Xuan, Zhu Hui, and the others not knowing whether to laugh or cry. She truly lived up to being raised by businessmen; her mind was completely filled with ways to make money.
"Do you think this stuff is as common as cabbage, lying around everywhere? Mass production? You sure have a wild imagination," White Snake couldn’t help but mock her when he saw her acting like such a money-grubber.
"You stinky snake! Is that any way to speak to your employer? Besides, who in the world doesn’t dream big? And who in their right mind would say no to money?" Hearing White Snake’s words, Yang Bingyu instantly bristled like a frightened cat and shot back, her neck stiff with defiance.
Seeing White Snake get reprimanded, the other Vermilion Bird Hall members wanted to laugh but didn’t dare, their cheeks turning bright red from holding it in. After all, it wasn’t every day that one got to see the number one assassin of the Cyan Dragon Hall deflated.
"You! I can’t be bothered to stoop to your level!" White Snake was rendered speechless by Yang Bingyu’s retort. Verbal sparring had never been his strong suit. Tossing out that single sentence, he stomped off to the parking lot to get the car.
"PFFT! You’re quite the brave girl, actually daring to speak to White Snake like that." Watching White Snake’s retreating back, Yu Ling burst into laughter and struck up a conversation with Yang Bingyu.
Yang Bingyu was hot-tempered, and her previous outburst had been a pure reflex. In truth, she regretted it the moment she finished snapping at White Snake. Although she always prided herself on being Ye Xuan and White Snake’s employer, how could people whom even her grandfather had to treat with deference be ordinary? She was lucky that White Snake hadn’t taken it seriously; otherwise, she wouldn’t even know how she died.
"Don’t worry. Although White Snake is usually cold, he’s actually a good person." Noticing Yang Bingyu’s lingering fear, Yu Ling gently patted her shoulder, comforting her uneasy heart.
"Really? But his expression didn’t look too good just now," Yang Bingyu asked uncertainly.
"Yes, really. If you don’t believe me, ask the boss," Yu Ling nodded with a smile, shifting the topic to Ye Xuan.
"There’s no need to worry. White Snake isn’t the petty type," Ye Xuan stated calmly, a glint flashing through his eyes at being suddenly called out.
With Ye Xuan’s reassurance, Yang Bingyu finally felt relieved. He was White Snake’s boss. As long as he said White Snake wouldn’t hurt her, it was guaranteed.
The group soon arrived at the Lanshan Grand Hotel. Naturally, guests brought by the family’s young miss would receive treatment vastly different from ordinary people. From a distance, Ye Xuan and the others could see a row of attendants standing at the hotel entrance, waiting for their arrival.
"Esteemed guests, welcome to the Lanshan Grand Hotel!"
As soon as they stepped out of the car, a perfectly synchronized greeting reached their ears. The attendants bowed deeply at a crisp ninety-degree angle, showing the utmost respect.
The Lanshan Grand Hotel featured an overall Euro-American architectural style. It was as resplendent as a medieval royal castle, giving Ye Xuan and the group the illusion that they had traveled back in time.
"Are the rooms prepared? These guests are of distinguished status, and you all must treat them well. If there is even the slightest negligence, I won’t let you off easily!" Yang Bingyu assumed the haughty posture of the eldest miss of the Yang family. She held her head high and swept her gaze around, her tone steeped in thick authority.
Naturally, the staff didn’t dare voice a hint of dissent, responding with trembling reverence.
"Please rest absolutely assured, Miss Yang. I’ve reserved the very best rooms for these guests, and my subordinates would never dare slight them." A man with a center-parted, slicked-back hairstyle and gold-rimmed glasses stepped out from the lineup, bowing and scraping to Yang Bingyu.
Yang Bingyu cast a cold glance at him, then let out an icy harrumph. "Yang Mingdao, you’d better keep your word. Otherwise, I’ll have my grandfather strip you of your position as manager of the Lanshan Grand Hotel."
"Of course, of course. Please rest assured." Even when threatened like this, Yang Mingdao didn’t dare utter a single word of complaint. Acting just like a sycophantic lapdog, he repeatedly made promises to Yang Bingyu.
