Chapter 110: Failed
Chapter 110: Failed
As a former member of the Cyan Dragon Hall, his status and skills might not match up to White Snake’s, but his strength was still not to be underestimated. He had left the Cyan Dragon Hall two years ago, his whereabouts unknown, and it turned out he had defected to the Qilin Hall. It seemed it was time to clean house. Ye Xuan’s gaze toward Poisonous Spider grew a few degrees colder, looking at him as if he were already a dead man.
"Cyan Dragon Chief, a wise man knows which way the wind blows. I was simply finding another way out for myself." Facing Ye Xuan, his former boss, Poisonous Spider showed no remorse whatsoever. Instead, he acted as if his betrayal was entirely justified.
Ye Xuan knitted his brows and let out a soft sigh. Since the man was dead set on this path, he couldn’t be blamed for being ruthless.
Suddenly, Ye Xuan stomped his foot, shattering a floor tile, and launched himself at Poisonous Spider like a speeding bullet. In a flash, the two exchanged dozens of blows. Poisonous Spider’s hand-to-hand combat skills were lacking, and he was constantly forced back by Ye Xuan’s relentless strikes.
Poison Dragon grew anxious and shouted at him, "Poisonous Spider! Use your poison! What are you thinking?!"
Hearing this, Ye Xuan paused for a split second before his attacks became even more ferocious. He had witnessed Poisonous Spider’s ruthlessness before; if he didn’t end this quickly, a single misstep could result in him being poisoned.
"Cyan Dragon Chief, today is the day you die!" Driven into a corner, Poisonous Spider resorted to his ultimate move. With a flick of his wrist, he pulled ten silver needles from his jacket. Bellowing in rage, he hurled them at Ye Xuan with a loud SWISH.
The hair-thin silver needles flew at blinding speed. Ye Xuan hastily retreated three steps, barely dodging the volley. One of the needles struck a nearby potted plant, and the lush green pothos withered instantly—a testament to the horrific toxicity of the poison!
Seeing his attack fail, Poisonous Spider roared and threw another object at Ye Xuan. With a soft POOF, it exploded in mid-air, scattering a cloud of white powder.
Ye Xuan didn’t dare to be careless. He quickly held his breath and leaped several meters away. Yet, even with his sharp reflexes, he still inhaled a tiny amount of the white powder. A wave of dizziness and weakness immediately washed over his entire body.
Seeing that his target was affected, Poisonous Spider lunged forward, a gleaming dagger in his hand. Spotting the faint green glint on the blade, alarm bells rang loudly in Ye Xuan’s mind. Planting one hand on the ground, he rolled away to evade the strike, then performed a swift kip-up to get back on his feet. The dizziness struck again, causing Ye Xuan to stumble just as Poisonous Spider closed in on him.
Lying not far away, Poison Dragon watched the scene with fanatical eyes. They were about to succeed! The Cyan Dragon Chief was finished!
Ye Xuan bit the tip of his tongue hard, the sharp pain instantly snapping his fading consciousness back to reality. His muscles tensed abruptly. With a twist of his wrist, he seized Poisonous Spider’s hand. Then, twisting his waist, he slipped behind his opponent and restrained him with his free arm.
In the blink of an eye, the tables had turned. Ye Xuan gripped Poisonous Spider’s hand and, with a violent jerk, used the man’s own dagger to slit his throat. Crimson blood sprayed from Poisonous Spider’s neck. His eyes widened into round saucers; he never expected Ye Xuan to still possess the strength to counterattack under such circumstances.
Poisonous Spider collapsed to the ground, his body twitching as the bright red blood rapidly turned a sickening black. Ye Xuan tossed the dagger aside. The poison on that damned thing was exceptionally lethal.
Poison Dragon sat slumped on the floor, staring at the lifeless body of Poisonous Spider. He had genuinely believed that as long as the two of them joined forces, Ye Xuan would undoubtedly die today. It seemed he had still severely underestimated Ye Xuan’s strength.
"Just kill me!" Poison Dragon said, his face ashen as he looked up at Ye Xuan standing over him. The winner takes all, and the loser is nothing. He had lost.
Ye Xuan frowned, a flash of reluctance crossing his eyes. These men had once been outstanding operatives, carefully handpicked by them. What a pity. However, in the end, he still brought his palm down, crushing Poison Dragon’s skull. They would inevitably have to go to war with the Qilin Hall sooner or later. Casualties were unavoidable.
Just as Ye Xuan was about to call someone to clean up the scene, the cell phone in Poison Dragon’s pocket suddenly rang. Ye Xuan bent down, retrieved the phone, and pressed the answer button.
"Poison Dragon, how did it go? Is Ye Xuan dead?"
Xiao Ran’s voice echoed from the speaker, causing Ye Xuan’s gaze to turn instantly freezing.
"Xiao Ran, wash your neck and wait for me to come kill you," Ye Xuan dropped the chilling sentence and hung up the phone. Xiao Ran had repeatedly challenged his bottom line. It was time to teach him a lesson.
"Damn it! Ye Xuan, I’m definitely going to kill you!" Xiao Ran stared at his phone in a daze for a moment before exploding in rage. He kicked over a small coffee table nearby and ruthlessly smashed his phone onto the floor.
"Young Master Xiao, did Poison Dragon fail?" Su Xiaobai asked casually, lounging lazily on the sofa while swirling a glass of red wine.
"Those two useless pieces of trash! To think the Xiao family wastes so much money on them every year!" Xiao Ran said through gritted teeth. He thought they could finally get rid of Ye Xuan, but he had failed yet again.
"As the Cyan Dragon Chief, it’s only natural that he possesses some real strength. I think we should break him from the inside, rather than sending people to clash with him head-on like this." Su Xiaobai stood up from the sofa and gazed thoughtfully at the sparkling river.
Break him from the inside? Prompted by Su Xiaobai’s words, Xiao Ran suddenly had an idea. "Yang Jie mentioned that Yang Bingyu has already joined forces with him. We can start with her."
Hearing this, Su Xiaobai was slightly surprised. He hadn’t expected Yang Bingyu to actually stand on their side.
"Yang Bingyu likes Ye Xuan. She couldn’t possibly be foolish enough to team up with us against him." Thinking about Yang Bingyu’s infatuation with Ye Xuan, Su Xiaobai didn’t believe this was a viable plan.
Xiao Ran grinned and lit a cigar. "All we have to do is sow discord between the two of them, right?"
Seeing his expression, Su Xiaobai’s interest was immediately piqued. "What bright idea do you have?"
"Isn’t this cruise ship owned by the Yang family? If we let Ye Xuan know that Lin Aoxue is in our hands, do you think he’ll come?
"If we force him to choose between Yang Bingyu and Lin Aoxue, who do you think he’ll pick?" Xiao Ran exhaled a ring of smoke, his eyes darkening as he stared at the lights along the shore.
Since they were currently on the river, Ye Xuan would have to go to the Yang family if he wanted to board the ship. As long as Xiao Ran caused a big enough scene, Yang Bingyu would inevitably find out. Then, they could tie up Yang Bingyu as well and force Ye Xuan to make a choice between the two women.
Knowing Ye Xuan’s temperament, he would definitely choose Lin Aoxue. Even if Yang Bingyu didn’t completely fall out with Ye Xuan over this, it would plant a seed of jealousy in her heart. And all they needed to do was water that seed every now and then; sooner or later, there would come a day when Yang Bingyu and Ye Xuan completely severed ties.
Su Xiaobai hadn’t expected Xiao Ran to also come up with the idea of driving a wedge between Ye Xuan and the Yang family. However, what Su Xiaobai wanted was for Ye Xuan to kill Yang Jie with his own hands, causing the Yang family to harbor a deep-seated hatred for him. Xiao Ran, on the other hand, merely wanted to sour the relationship between Ye Xuan and Yang Bingyu.
