Chapter 120: Are You Going to Leave Me?
Chapter 120: Are You Going to Leave Me?
Hearing the word "murderer," Yang Bingyu’s body trembled violently. She looked up at her uncle, a painful lump forming in her throat as if a fishbone was lodged there, making it unbearably uncomfortable.
"Uncle Kui, I just wanted to come back and see..."
"Shut up! Don’t call me uncle. I have no such niece!"
Before Yang Bingyu could even finish, Yang Kui agitatedly cut her off. "Grandpa doesn’t need your concern either! If you still have a shred of conscience, get out of the Yang Family and never come back!"
Yang Kui hated Yang Bingyu and Ye Xuan to the core. If it weren’t for Ye Xuan’s immensely powerful background, he would have already mobilized every resource at his disposal to deal with him.
Yang Kui’s words struck a nerve, and Yang Bingyu finally couldn’t hold back her tears. Seeing the woman he had tried so hard to comfort crying again because of Yang Kui, a ball of furious anger flared up in Ye Xuan’s chest. He clenched his fists and took a half-step forward, ready to teach Yang Kui a lesson.
But in the next second, Yang Bingyu stopped him once again.
Yang Bingyu bit her lip, forcing back her tears as she spoke to Yang Kui and Yang Tao. "Uncle Kui, Jie’s death does indeed have everything to do with me. I’m sorry. I failed to protect him.
"No matter how you look at me now, I will always be a part of the Yang Family. In my heart, I am always a member of this family.
"Grandpa is in poor health. Uncle Kui, Dad, please comfort him as much as you can. I’ll take my leave for now and come back to visit Grandpa in a few days."
"Get the hell out of here!" Yang Kui’s attitude hadn’t softened in the slightest; he was still brimming with hostility.
Yang Tao, on the other hand, looked at Yang Bingyu and Ye Xuan with a complex expression and sighed helplessly. "Don’t worry, we’ll take good care of Grandpa. Your Uncle Kui is just having a hard time right now, which is why he said those things.
"Wait until we finish Jie’s funeral. Come back after he’s had some time to process everything."
Yang Tao’s feelings toward his daughter were incredibly complicated. When they first adopted Yang Bingyu, it was primarily Grandpa’s wish. Secondly, he and his wife hadn’t had a child of their own at the time. After years of marriage without children, his wife had become chronically depressed, so he thought adopting Yang Bingyu would bring her some joy. For the first few years, he was quite attentive to Yang Bingyu. However, once Yang Tian was born, his focus shifted entirely to his son, and the bond between father and daughter gradually faded.
"I understand, Dad." Yang Bingyu gave Yang Tao a deep look, then glanced toward Yang Zhennan’s room before finally turning away in resignation.
As soon as she walked out the main gate, she bumped straight into Yang Tian, who had just returned from abroad. Some time ago, Yang Tao had specifically sent Yang Tian overseas for further studies to help him gain experience. Following the incident with Yang Jie, he had rushed back immediately.
"Tian, you’re back?" Seeing the younger brother who had been close to her since childhood, Yang Bingyu’s mood lifted slightly, and she greeted him softly.
But Yang Tian’s reaction dealt another crushing blow to her heart. Yang Tian, who used to be so clingy with her, actually cowered and took a frightened step back when he saw Yang Bingyu and Ye Xuan. He stared at Yang Bingyu with a terrified expression, his eyes full of evasion.
"Tian, what... what’s wrong?" Yang Bingyu forced herself to stop mid-reach as she tried to grab his hand, asking bitterly.
"Did you... really kill Jie?" Yang Tian shrank his neck, not daring to meet Yang Bingyu’s gaze. Instead, he stared down at his toes and asked in a small voice.
Faced with Yang Tian’s questioning, Yang Bingyu fell silent. Her entire body trembled as the emotions she had been fighting so hard to suppress completely shattered in that moment.
"Tian, do you also think it’s my fault?"
She knew that Yang Jie’s death was a massive blow to the Yang Family, but it was a fate he had brought upon himself. Furthermore, she was also a victim in this entire ordeal. She wondered why everyone in the Yang Family was treating her like a murderer. Not a single person had offered a word of concern, nor had anyone bothered to ask if she was doing all right. Did it really mean that those without blood ties were ultimately just outsiders? No matter how much of a bastard Yang Jie was, no matter how much he deserved to die, as long as he had the Yang Family’s blood running through his veins, he could do no wrong in their eyes. No matter how well she did or how much she considered the Yang Family’s best interests, she would only ever be an outsider to them.
"Bingyu, you shouldn’t have killed him," Yang Tian fidgeted nervously for a long time before finally uttering those words.
The sentence felt like a sharp dagger ruthlessly plunged into Yang Bingyu’s heart. The pain was so intense that she could barely breathe.
"Yang Tian, that’s enough! This isn’t Bingyu’s fault. Whatever grudges or grievances you people in the Yang Family have, just direct them all at me!" Seeing Yang Bingyu so heartbroken made Ye Xuan ache for her, and he furiously roared at Yang Tian.
Yang Tian was naturally timid to begin with. Being yelled at by Ye Xuan like that nearly scared the living daylights out of him. He let out a sharp shriek and immediately sprinted back into the villa.
Watching his retreating back as he fled in panic, Yang Bingyu looked up at the sky, shedding tears of profound sorrow. She asked herself why—why things had to turn out this way.
"Bingyu, let’s go back. Don’t overthink it. This matter has absolutely nothing to do with you." His heart aching, Ye Xuan wrapped an arm around Yang Bingyu’s shoulders and gently led her away from the Yang Family’s villa.
"Ye Xuan, I don’t have a home anymore."
Yang Bingyu’s sudden words made Ye Xuan’s heart clench so tightly he could barely breathe. His arm around her shoulders involuntarily tightened, his mind overwhelmed with immense self-blame. He blamed himself for failing to protect Yang Bingyu. He also blamed himself for not sparing Yang Jie’s life back then. He hadn’t thought that much about it at the time. What Yang Jie had done was already enough to warrant dying a hundred times over. In a fit of rage, he had issued the kill order to White Snake. If he had known that it would cause Yang Bingyu so much agony, he wouldn’t have let Yang Jie die, no matter what.
"It’s okay, you still have me," he said tenderly, gently pulling Yang Bingyu into his arms.
Ye Xuan’s words caused Yang Bingyu’s body to stiffen instantly. Her hands gripped his clothes anxiously as she asked uncertainly, "Will you stay with me for the rest of my life?"
Hearing Yang Bingyu’s tentative question, Ye Xuan hugged her even tighter. "Yes, for the rest of your life."
With Ye Xuan’s promise, Yang Bingyu’s mood finally improved significantly.
"Ye Xuan, take me on a trip abroad to clear my head. I don’t want to stay in Jianghai City right now." Sitting in the passenger seat, Yang Bingyu said this while watching the scenery rapidly blur past the car window. She couldn’t go back to the Yang Family to see Grandpa right now, and staying in Jianghai City would only leave her alone with her turbulent thoughts. It was better to go on a trip to unwind and relax, so she wouldn’t feel so utterly suffocated.
"All right, where do you want to go?" Ye Xuan agreed without much hesitation. He remembered the psychologist’s advice to keep Yang Bingyu open-minded and relaxed. She needed to focus on happier things, which would allow her condition to improve.
"Ye Xuan, are you going to leave me?"
Out of the blue, Yang Bingyu suddenly asked such a question, leaving Ye Xuan thoroughly confused.
