Chapter 141 - 140: Must Die

Yang Bingyu was deeply troubled by the words Night Rose left behind when she fled. It seemed the woman knew Ye Xuan.

"Her moniker is Night Rose. She is the third-ranked assassin on the Celestial Ranking. She was the one who killed your grandfather. I’ve had some dealings with her in the past," Ye Xuan answered truthfully, unaware of the thoughts swirling in Yang Bingyu’s mind.

Hearing that Night Rose was Yang Zhennan’s murderer, Yang Bingyu’s gaze instantly shifted. The woman had just been right in front of her! If she had known that the cleaner was her grandfather’s killer, she would have fought her with all her might.

"Bingyu, calm down first. This woman isn’t as simple as you think, and I feel there’s something very fishy about this whole matter," Ye Xuan said with a heavy heart, looking at Yang Bingyu, who was clutching the blanket so tightly it was deforming.

As for Night Rose, Ye Xuan couldn’t quite grasp her behavioral style. Although she belonged to a different faction and there was a blood feud between them, it was indeed her warning that saved Ye Xuan, Vermilion Bird, and the others five years ago. He didn’t know how to treat this woman either.

"What else is there to doubt? Not only did this woman kill Grandpa, but she also tried to kill me!

"I’m going to tell Dad right now and have him take people to kill Night Rose tomorrow!"

Yang Bingyu had completely lost her reason. Her mind was filled with nothing but killing Night Rose to avenge Yang Zhennan. Agitated, she pushed Ye Xuan away and got out of bed barefoot, ready to go find Yang Tao.

Ye Xuan quickly pulled her back and coaxed her patiently. "Be good, leave this to me, alright? I will definitely give you an answer."

Normally, Yang Bingyu would fall for this trick. Every time she was angry, a little coaxing like this would do the job. But this time, it had no effect at all; it even made her more emotionally unstable. She gave Ye Xuan a hard shove, her eyes filled with disappointment.

"Why are you protecting that woman? You saw exactly what she did to me.

"If it were Lin Aoxue, you probably would have killed her without hesitation, right? Just like when you killed Yang Jie before.

"Ye Xuan, what do I actually mean to you? I am truly so disappointed in you. Look at how you’ve turned my life into a complete mess.

"I could have lived a very happy life, and my grandpa wouldn’t have had to die. All of this is because of you!"

The sheer suffocation in Yang Bingyu’s heart, coupled with her mania, caused her nerves to snap all at once. She yelled and screamed at Ye Xuan, blaming all the mistakes on him. Yang Jie’s death had ultimately left a knot in her heart, even though she had never blamed Ye Xuan for it before. But now, with so many things piling up, her attitude towards him had shifted.

Ye Xuan’s heart felt as if it were being sliced by a knife. Back when his superiors issued the order for him to protect Yang Bingyu, he could have refused. But to fulfill his promise to Chen Hao, he gave up the opportunity to return to Jingcheng and stayed with the Yang family as a bodyguard instead. He admitted that his negligence had put Yang Bingyu in danger many times, but every single time, he had done his utmost to protect her. He never expected that in the end, she would harbor such resentment towards him.

Enduring his own bitter sorrow, Ye Xuan tightly embraced the frantic Yang Bingyu, gently coaxing her over and over again. After an unknown amount of time, she finally stopped throwing her tantrum. Having cried herself to exhaustion, she leaned heavily against Ye Xuan’s chest and fell into a deep sleep.

Ye Xuan looked exhaustedly at the sleeping Yang Bingyu, sinking into deep self-blame. If he had chosen to protect her in secret from the beginning instead of becoming her bodyguard, perhaps many things could have been avoided. At the very least, she wouldn’t have fallen for him, and she wouldn’t have been hurt emotionally.

Unfortunately, it was too late to say anything now. What’s done was done. The past could no longer be changed. The only thing he could do now was to clean up the mess and try to minimize the negative impact as much as possible.

Fearing that Yang Bingyu might encounter danger again, Ye Xuan simply leaned against the edge of her bed and took a short nap.

At noon, Yang Bingyu woke up.

Although she had suffered an emotional breakdown earlier, her memory remained intact. She remembered every word she had said to Ye Xuan. Glancing at him resting by her bedside, her feelings were incredibly complex. She knew that none of this was his fault, yet she still couldn’t help but blame him for everything. Furthermore, Ye Xuan stopping her from seeking revenge against Night Rose made her extremely unhappy. She didn’t understand his reasons.

She stared at Ye Xuan for a long while before finally making a silent decision. Tiptoeing out of bed, she left the room to find Yang Tao and told him everything about Night Rose arranging to meet Ye Xuan.

Yang Tao was completely taken aback and incredibly furious. Without needing Yang Bingyu to say another word, he immediately gathered over twenty men and laid an early ambush at Antler Park.

After everything was arranged, Yang Bingyu went back upstairs. Just as she was about to push the door open, Ye Xuan pulled it open from the inside, his face full of anxiety. Upon seeing her, he let out a heavy sigh of relief, pulled her tightly into his arms, and said nervously, "So you’re here. I thought something happened to you."

His nervousness made Yang Bingyu feel a surge of joy. But thinking of the deaths of Yang Zhennan and Yang Jie, the joy was extinguished in an instant. She somewhat coldly pulled his hands off her body and said with an indifferent expression, "This is my home. What could possibly happen to me? If you truly care about me this much, then help me kill Night Rose and avenge my grandpa."

To his dismay, even after waking up, Yang Bingyu still hadn’t given up the thought of seeking revenge against Night Rose. Ye Xuan looked at her, caught in a difficult position, and tried to explain.

"Bingyu, can you just trust me this one time? I promise you, if Night Rose was really the one who did it, I will definitely kill her to avenge Elder Yang.

"But before we figure out the truth, can you listen to me first? Don’t go looking for trouble with Night Rose for now."

Yang Bingyu actually still held a sliver of hope, wishing that Ye Xuan would stand by her side. But the final outcome disappointed her once again. She looked up to meet his gaze and smiled mockingly.

"If you won’t help me, then forget it. I will solve this matter myself. I will have Night Rose’s life, no matter what.

"I don’t care what your relationship is with her; she has to die. If you insist on protecting her, then I have no choice but to turn against you."

Yang Bingyu’s eyes were icy, and her gaze made Ye Xuan’s heart feel as if it were being pricked by needles. Her words were like sharp swords, piercing ruthlessly into his heart, bringing him a pain beyond words.
