Chapter 160 - 159: The New Nanny

Moreover, the look in Yang Bingyu’s eyes as she watched Sister Xiang was filled with deep dissatisfaction. She seemed to have a huge problem with Sister Xiang’s resignation. Stared at like this, Sister Xiang felt uncomfortable all over. Not even daring to meet Yang Bingyu’s gaze, she lowered her head, bowing and nodding deferentially to Ye Xuan.

"Yes, yes, don’t worry. I’ll call her in for an interview tomorrow," Sister Xiang said. "Um, Mr. Ye, I’m going to go to the hospital for a checkup now. I’ll have to trouble you to handle dinner tonight."

After saying that, Sister Xiang supported herself against the wall and walked out the door. Her demeanor made it seem like she was hiding from something, which Ye Xuan found incredibly strange. Did something just happen? Why did he get the feeling that Sister Xiang was terrified of Yang Bingyu?

"Sister Xiang, let me have someone drive you to the hospital. Wait a moment."

However, this trace of doubt only lingered in Ye Xuan’s mind for a split second before he tossed it to the back of his mind. Out of the kindness of his heart, he called over a bodyguard and had him drive Sister Xiang to the hospital.

After placing Yang Bingyu, who was in his arms, down onto the sofa, Ye Xuan opened the refrigerator. He looked at the ingredients inside and prepared to cook dinner.

"Bingyu, what do you want to eat tonight? I’ll make it for you," Ye Xuan asked without looking back as he picked out the ingredients.

"I want spicy poached fish. I’m craving something spicy."

Yang Bingyu looked at Ye Xuan’s back with an infatuated expression. This was the life she wanted: a husband, a child, and a cozy life together as a family of three. This was the future she longed for, and no matter who it was, no one could snatch Ye Xuan away from her!

At the thought of Lin Aoxue, a surge of murderous intent welled up in Yang Bingyu’s eyes. Ye Xuan happened to turn his head at that exact moment, acutely catching that fleeting trace of malice. He paused his movements, wanting to carefully identify that feeling, but Yang Bingyu quickly blinked, masking the murderous intent in her eyes.

The uneasy feeling Ye Xuan had just experienced vanished in an instant. He gave Yang Bingyu a somewhat suspicious look and gently shook his head. Perhaps he was just overthinking things.

"The old saying goes, ’Sour for a boy, spicy for a girl.’ Bingyu, since you love spicy food so much, could the baby in your belly be a little princess?"

Seeing Ye Xuan bring up the topic of the baby on his own accord, Yang Bingyu was beyond thrilled. She sat up straight in excitement and asked with a beaming smile, "Then do you prefer boys or girls?"

Looking at her expectant gaze, Ye Xuan felt a touch of warmth in his heart. Perhaps the decision to keep this child was the right one. Not only did it divert some of Yang Bingyu’s attention, but it also became her spiritual pillar, slowly helping her walk out from the shadow of Yang Zhennan’s death.

"If it were up to me, I’d hope for a girl. After all, daughters are always a father’s sweet little angels; girls are just more considerate."

Ye Xuan’s answer was only spoken after careful consideration. He truly hoped the child in Yang Bingyu’s womb was a girl. First of all, girls were generally quieter and not as mischievous as boys, making them easier to discipline in the future. Secondly, this was a reflection of Ye Xuan’s preference for daughters over sons.

He had always favored girls anyway, feeling that a boy’s mischief was a minor issue, but his upbringing was a major concern. This child was going to be born with a silver spoon in its mouth. If educated improperly in the future, what if a boy grew up to act just like Yang Jie? Therefore, it was better to have a daughter. Even in the worst-case scenario, she would only be a bit arrogant and domineering, which wouldn’t go as far as to bring about a fatal disaster.

Yang Bingyu touched her belly with a faint smile, the joy in her eyes deepening. "Baby, did you hear that? Mommy and Daddy are really looking forward to your arrival."

Her behavior made Ye Xuan laugh. The baby was still so tiny, not even having fully formed limbs yet; how could it possibly understand what they were saying? However, Ye Xuan didn’t want to spoil Yang Bingyu’s mood. He gathered the ingredients and headed into the kitchen.

The next morning.

A petite, ordinary-looking woman in her thirties knocked on the main door of Yunju Mountain Villa.

"Hello, sir, madam. I’m the nanny Sister Xiang introduced. My name is Xu Cui, but you can call me Sister-in-law Cui."

Standing at the entrance of the villa, Xu Cui looked at Ye Xuan and Yang Bingyu with some constraint, speaking with a noticeable rustic accent. She shrank her neck back, hung her head, and tugged nervously at her clothes with her hands. It was obvious that Xu Cui was incredibly tense.

"Come in first." Ye Xuan looked Xu Cui up and down. Feeling that she didn’t seem like a bad person, he called her into the house.

Ye Xuan had been in the middle of cutting fruit for Yang Bingyu in the kitchen. Since Xu Cui had just arrived, he figured he might as well use this to test her. "Sister-in-law Cui, you’ve come at the perfect time. I was just about to make a fruit platter for Bingyu. Since you’re here, I’ll have to trouble you to make one."

"Alrighty, I’ll go right now." Xu Cui knew that Ye Xuan wanted to test her, so she agreed and slipped into the kitchen.

A little while later, she walked out of the kitchen carrying a fruit tray. On the tray sat a variety of colorful fruits, each piece looking exceptionally fresh. Xu Cui had certainly put thought into it; not only had she washed and sliced the fruit, but she had also arranged some of the pieces into adorable little bunny shapes.

Yang Bingyu was absolutely delighted when she saw the fruit on the tray, and within a short time, she had eaten more than half of it. Seeing how much she liked it, Ye Xuan decided to let Xu Cui stay.

Ye Xuan instructed Xu Cui while feeding Yang Bingyu fruit, "I assume Sister Xiang has already told you the general situation. Bingyu is still in the early stages of her pregnancy. Her condition is a bit special, and her morning sickness is quite severe.

"You need to put a lot of effort into her diet and be extremely meticulous. As long as you take good care of Bingyu, the salary won’t be an issue.

"There’s one more thing. You must keep the fact that you’re working as a nanny here a secret from the outside world, and don’t get any crooked ideas.

"There are security guards inside and outside this house. If you try to pull anything, it will only take a minute to catch you."

Xu Cui didn’t dare to be negligent, nodding and bowing profusely to him. "Don’t you worry about that, sir. I’m a country bumpkin, and my family has been farmers for generations. I’m as honest as they come, definitely not a bad person."

Judging from her current behavior, she did indeed seem very honest and down-to-earth. But people could change. Ye Xuan couldn’t guarantee that Xu Cui would always stay this way, so he still kept his guard up.

Because Yang Bingyu was pregnant, company matters were temporarily handed over to Yang Tao to manage, while she stayed home to rest and nurture the pregnancy. However, the previous assassination attempts had left Ye Xuan on edge, forcing him to be extra vigilant.

"Alright. If you don’t have anything else to do right now, go wash Bingyu’s clothes. She’s pregnant, so you have to use a special laundry detergent, and her clothes need to be hand-washed."

Since he had chosen to keep Xu Cui, Ye Xuan didn’t hesitate to assign her chores. And so, Xu Cui officially settled in at Yunju Mountain Villa.

"Bingyu, I’m going out for a bit later. Be a good girl and wait for me at home, okay?"
