Chapter 161 - 160: Causing Trouble at the Door
Chapter 161 - 160: Causing Trouble at the Door
After handing everything over to Xu Cui, Ye Xuan thought about heading out to the hospital to see Lin Aoxue. After some deliberation, he decided to let Yang Bingyu know first, lest the girl get suspicious and let her imagination run wild.
Hearing this, Yang Bingyu’s eyes dimmed a fraction, though she didn’t let it show. Instead, she acted incredibly considerate and brought up Lin Aoxue on her own. "You’re going to the hospital to see Lin Aoxue, right? Why not take me with you? I have to go for my check-up this afternoon anyway."
These words reflected her true thoughts. Since Ye Xuan would have to accompany her for her hospital check-up that afternoon regardless, it was better to go together than to make him run back and forth.
Hearing her request, Ye Xuan clearly froze for a moment, a flash of awkwardness crossing his eyes. He wasn’t quite ready for Yang Bingyu and Lin Aoxue to meet yet. What if they started tearing at each other? Lin Aoxue was injured, and Yang Bingyu was pregnant; he wouldn’t even know who to protect.
"Don’t worry, I absolutely won’t fight with Lin Aoxue. I’m truly worried about her and just want to visit," Yang Bingyu said with utmost sincerity, taking his hand, well aware of the dilemma in his mind.
Seeing that she wasn’t joking, Ye Xuan pondered for a moment before finally nodding.
"Hehe, then wait for me to get ready. It’ll be quick!" Thrilled by his agreement, Yang Bingyu bounced up from the sofa and sprinted upstairs, THUMP THUMP THUMP.
This scared the living daylights out of Ye Xuan. He trailed closely behind her, terrified she might trip or bump into something.
"Pfft—you don’t need to be so overly cautious. I know what I’m doing." Looking at Ye Xuan, who refused to leave her side, Yang Bingyu couldn’t help but laugh out loud.
The child in her belly was her own flesh and blood, after all, and she knew perfectly well how to handle herself. No matter what, as a mother, she would never let anything happen to her baby.
"You’re far too reckless. I really can’t put my mind at ease," Ye Xuan said, shaking his head with a deadly serious expression.
Smiling, Yang Bingyu pulled a piece of lingerie from her closet and waved it at him. She teased, "Are you not planning to step out while I change? I’ll just undress right in front of you, then." With that, she made a show of unbuttoning her pajamas.
Ye Xuan instantly flushed a deep crimson. Flustered, he scrambled to turn his back to her. "Y-you go ahead and change. I’ll keep my back turned. I won’t peek."
Because of her pregnancy, Yang Bingyu only wore a single nightgown while at home, as it was much more comfortable. If she really took it off, she would be completely bare underneath.
With his back to her, Ye Xuan listened to the RUSTLE of clothing behind him. To his dismay, vivid images slowly began to form in his mind. He wondered why he hadn’t just waited outside. This was absolute torture!
"Ugh, my bras are all too small now that I’m pregnant. Hubby, you’ll have to accompany me to buy some new ones later," Yang Bingyu said to Ye Xuan, adjusting the undergarments that were digging uncomfortably into her skin.
She had actually deliberated for a long time before deciding to call him "hubby," purely to see how he would react.
Hearing this, Ye Xuan stiffened for a split second. Then, the tips of his ears turned slightly red. "O-okay," he replied blankly. Using the excuse that the room was too stuffy, he hastily fled her bedroom.
Watching his retreating figure, Yang Bingyu was in an excellent mood. When she called him her husband just now, he hadn’t objected. That meant he must hold some place for her in his heart. The realization made her feel as sweet as honey.
She picked out a light blue dress and applied some light makeup, making her look incredibly vibrant and full of life. When Ye Xuan saw her, he was slightly mesmerized. He wondered why Yang Bingyu seemed to have grown even more beautiful since getting pregnant.
"What? Are you stunned by my beauty?" Seeing him staring at her blankly, Yang Bingyu smiled and tucked a stray strand of hair behind her ear, asking shyly.
Ye Xuan snapped back to reality. Averting his gaze, he mumbled something incomprehensible and quickly headed out the door. Yang Bingyu didn’t press him further, simply letting out a string of giggles.
Unfortunately, this good mood didn’t last long before it was ruined by a group of uninvited guests.
A row of luxury cars suddenly appeared at the main entrance of Yunju Mountain Villa. Following that, a horde of Yang Bingyu’s meddlesome aunts and extended relatives stepped out of the vehicles, marching aggressively toward the villa.
Watching this grand display, Ye Xuan frowned in displeasure. He wondered what these women were trying to do.
"Guards, stop them all," Ye Xuan ordered. Fearing that these people might harm Yang Bingyu, he decisively sent the bodyguards up to block their path.
Back when they were at the Yang family estate, these people had verbally abused both him and Yang Bingyu. Now that Yang Zhennan was dead, it would be a miracle if they showed up with good intentions.
"What are you doing? Do you know who we are? How dare you block us? Are you tired of living?!" the woman in the lead shouted.
She was Yang Bingyu’s eldest aunt, Yang Hui. She had already found out about the recent incident at the construction site. After uncovering the truth, Yang Bingyu had actually fired Liu Maohua on the spot. This had infuriated Yang Hui to no end. Thus, she had rallied her clique of lady friends today to come to Yunju Mountain Villa and make trouble for her niece.
But who could have known that they would be intercepted by these bodyguards before they could even set foot through the villa’s front gate? She was so angry her lungs were ready to burst.
Yunju Mountain Villa was also the place where she had grown up. Even after being married off for so many years, her old room had been kept intact. She never imagined that Yang Zhennan would actually give this estate to that piece of trash, Ye Xuan, forcing her to be at the mercy of others’ moods just to visit her own home.
The more Yang Hui thought about it, the angrier she got. Unable to hold back, she shoved the bodyguard closest to her. The bodyguard simply looked down at her with a chilling glare—a look so terrifying it made her plop onto the ground in fright.
However, having already talked big, she would be laughed at by the others if she backed down now. So, she braced herself, met the bodyguard’s gaze, and arrogantly bellowed. "What are you glaring at? I’m Yang Bingyu’s eldest aunt! I have a share in Yunju Mountain Villa too. I’m practically half a master here. If you know what’s good for you, get out of the way!"
Yet, faced with her clamoring, the bodyguard acted as if he were deaf. He stood before Yang Hui like an immovable mountain, refusing to budge a single inch no matter what she said.
This infuriated the women. They stomped their feet in rage and hurled insults.
"Ye Xuan! Yang Bingyu! Get the hell out here! You two greedy, scheming lowlifes! Don’t you dare try to monopolize the Yang family’s assets!"
"Get out here right now, you shameless pair!"
"Sisters, let’s just charge right in. I bet that Ye Xuan wouldn’t dare lay a finger on us."
"Exactly! We are all prominent figures in Jianghai City. Unless Ye Xuan wants to be run out of Jianghai City, he has to let us in!"
The women chattered among themselves, plotting to force their way inside. Relying on the status of their husbands’ families in Jianghai City, they arrogantly assumed that Ye Xuan wouldn’t dare do anything to them.
