Chapter 19: The Generous Young Lady
Chapter 19: The Generous Young Lady
"No, it looks great." Seeing that he misunderstood, Yang Bingyu quickly explained.
The unsparing praise made Ye Xuan a bit embarrassed. He scratched his head with a smile and asked, "In that case, does this mean we don’t need to try on the rest?"
Looking at the long line of clothes waiting for him, Ye Xuan felt a headache coming on.
"Of course you have to try them on. Why wouldn’t you? It’s rare for us to get a chance to go shopping together. Today, I’m going to completely overhaul your wardrobe."
Yang Bingyu’s words made Ye Xuan stiffen, his sharp eyebrows knitting into a tight knot. He hesitated where he stood for a moment, but ultimately obeyed and went back to the fitting room.
Three hours passed, with Ye Xuan constantly repeating the motions of taking off and putting on clothes.
Finally, too exhausted to continue, he pulled a long face and pleaded with Yang Bingyu. "Bingyu, I think this is enough. I’ve tried on at least twenty or thirty outfits. Let’s just pick a few from these."
The sales assistants were all shrewd; seeing that Ye Xuan didn’t want to try on any more clothes, they immediately began preparing to package the items.
The store manager looked at Ye Xuan with a beaming smile, her tongue coated in honey. "Oh my goodness, sir, almost every single set fits you perfectly. Even though the styles are different, they all look incredibly handsome on you. We wouldn’t even know which ones to pick for you!"
This was the first time Ye Xuan had ever been praised for his looks, and he couldn’t help but feel his cheeks burn. Glancing at the mountain of clothes, he felt a bit troubled.
He really didn’t have any specific requirements when it came to picking out clothes; his shopping philosophy had always been "as long as it’s wearable, it’s fine."
"I don’t know which ones to pick either. You guys just decide," he said.
"No need," Yang Bingyu interjected. "Pack up all the clothes he just tried on. We’ll take them all."
Ye Xuan had originally thought buying four or five outfits would be more than enough. Who knew Yang Bingyu would make such a grand gesture and generously buy every single piece he had tried on?
This thrilled the store manager to no end. Grinning from ear to ear, she nodded profusely and hurried the sales assistants to pack the clothes.
After all, luxury boutiques like theirs were different from ordinary stores that saw daily profits. For them, a single massive sale could easily keep the business afloat for months.
Although Yang Bingyu’s reputation as a lavish spender was practically common knowledge throughout the mall, her past purchases had strictly been women’s products. She rarely ventured into the men’s section.
Initially, the manager had thought that selling two or three outfits would be a great success. But now, that number had been multiplied by ten. This single transaction had just secured everyone’s year-end bonuses.
"Miss Yang, since you’ve ordered quite a few pieces, it will take some time to pack everything up. Would you like to browse around for anything else? We also have leather shoes and ties that would perfectly complete the gentleman’s outfits."
With so many clothes, even if all the staff worked frantically, packing would still take at least ten minutes. Spotting a prime business opportunity, the manager immediately started promoting the store’s other merchandise to them.
Yang Bingyu hadn’t originally planned on buying ties and shoes at this store, but figuring they had time to kill anyway, she decided it wouldn’t hurt to look.
This "look" resulted in Ye Xuan trying on another seven or eight pairs of leather shoes in various styles, as well as picking out a dozen dazzling ties.
Ye Xuan was utterly astounded by Yang Bingyu’s shopping habits. Even though the Yang Family was obscenely rich, spending money like water the way she did was unique even among their elite social circles.
"Bingyu, I really can’t use all of this. Buying four or five outfits is enough. There’s no need to be so extravagant."
Looking at the long string of numbers on the final receipt, Ye Xuan’s eyelids twitched. Good heavens, Yang Bingyu had spent nearly five million on this single trip. It was truly an exaggerated sum.
"It’s fine, this is nothing. Just consider it my way of repaying you for saving me last time," Yang Bingyu said, standing up from the sofa and casually waving her hand.
She still hadn’t properly thanked Ye Xuan for what happened before. She had racked her brain for so long without coming up with a good idea. Today presented the perfect opportunity; these clothes and shoes would serve as her token of gratitude.
"I really have no use for so many. I’d wear four or five outfits a year at most. Just pick a few from that pile for me," Ye Xuan said, frowning slightly as he looked at the row of shopping bags lining the counter.
Compared to him, Yang Bingyu appeared much more composed. She cast a brief glance at the shopping bags and nonchalantly replied, "What do you mean ’so many’? Just wear a different outfit every day."
Her answer left Ye Xuan somewhat speechless. One outfit a day meant going an entire month without repeating a look.
"Alright, look at the time. We should go eat. I know a really delicious Japanese restaurant nearby. Let’s have that for dinner tonight."
With that, Yang Bingyu dragged Ye Xuan to the nearby Japanese restaurant.
As for the clothes, the sales assistants would personally deliver them to their doorstep once everything was packed, saving them the trouble of carrying the bags home themselves.
Ye Xuan really couldn’t win an argument against Yang Bingyu, so he finally compromised. Besides, five million wasn’t exactly a massive sum to him, either.
"So, the ambiance at this restaurant isn’t bad, right? I love coming here to eat mainly because of their interior design."
Yang Bingyu was considered a regular at this Japanese restaurant. As soon as they walked in, the manager greeted them and led them to a private dining room.
The ambiance was indeed impeccable. The pure Japanese aesthetic, combining dim, warm lighting with vintage decor, gave one the urge to stay indefinitely.
Moreover, the restaurant wasn’t just styled with Japanese decor; the entire building was structured like a traditional, vintage Japanese courtyard, standing out uniquely amidst the bustling city.
This Japanese restaurant had quite a renowned reputation in Jianghai City. Rumor had it that the boss behind the scenes was an ethnic Chinese who had opened the establishment after returning from overseas.
Lin Aoxue had always wanted to try the cuisine here. Unfortunately, the prices were simply too exorbitant. Coupled with how busy she was with her company’s affairs, she hadn’t found the time to visit even once in their five years of marriage.
Thinking of Lin Aoxue, Ye Xuan’s expression darkened slightly. Although Lin Aoxue had treated him poorly over the last five years, he could understand why.
Lin Aoxue was a golden girl who deserved to be matched with an exceptional man. Yet, forced by the old master’s arrangements, she had ended up marrying a "loser" like him. After enduring endless mockery for five years, it would be a miracle if she ever gave him a pleasant look.
For this reason, Ye Xuan had been doing everything in his power to help Lin Aoxue over the years. He had originally planned to reveal his true identity to her once the deadline arrived.
Sadly, before he even had the chance to say it, Lin Aoxue couldn’t wait to divorce him.
