Chapter 195 - 1194: Making You Rot in Prison

The crowd was infuriated by his words.

"Are you even listening to yourself? You were the one driving recklessly and nearly hit someone! How do you figure you’re in the right?"

"Exactly! You think you’re so great just because you have money? You have absolutely no class!"

"Apologize right now! If it weren’t for this young man, you would have run this little girl over! Not only are you ungrateful, but you even have the nerve to blame others!"

Faced with the accusations of the crowd, the Ferrari driver didn’t show a hint of remorse. If anything, he grew even more arrogant.

"Do you even know who I am? My brother-in-law is a Section Chief in the Military Department! Even if I had run this kid over today, nothing would happen to me! You bunch of broke losers actually expect me to apologize? Keep dreaming!"

Upon hearing that he had connections in the Military Department, the crowd’s voices immediately died down.

"No wonder he’s so cocky. So he’s backed by the Military Department."

"The Military Department has become more and more out of line these past few years. Things were so much better back when the Hall Chiefs of the Four Palaces were around."

"Shh... what nonsense are you spouting? Do you have a death wish? You still dare to mention the Hall Chiefs of the Four Palaces?"

Ye Xuan frowned as he listened to the crowd’s murmurs. He wondered if the Military Department’s reputation among the common people had truly deteriorated this much over the years.

"Hey, brat! Thanks to you, my car is ruined. Pay up, right now!"

Seeing the fear in the crowd’s eyes, the Ferrari driver became increasingly smug. He swaggered over to Ye Xuan and actually had the audacity to demand compensation.

Ye Xuan stared at him, his gaze narrowing. "And what if I don’t?" he said calmly, meeting the man’s eyes.

"Oh? Playing tough, are we? My brother-in-law is a Military Department Section Chief. If you don’t pay up, then you can just wait to rot in jail!" The Ferrari driver let out a bark of laughter. In all his life, this was the first time anyone had dared to speak to him like that.

Seeing him laugh, Ye Xuan smiled as well. "Alright, then. Go ahead and call your so-called Section Chief brother-in-law over. I’d love to see if he actually has the power to make me rot in jail."

The crowd was stunned by his words. Was this guy crazy? The Military Department was the absolute last group of people anyone should provoke right now. If this could be resolved with money, why butt heads with them?

"Let it go. Don’t go against the Military Department," the old lady whispered, tugging at Ye Xuan’s sleeve. "This whole mess started because of my granddaughter. I’ll pay for the damages."

The bystanders quickly chimed in their agreement.

"She’s right, just let it go. Give him some money and be done with it. Don’t go looking for trouble."

"Brother, you must be from out of town. You don’t know how ruthless the Military Department can be. Avoid provoking them if you can."

By now, the Ferrari driver’s nose was practically stuck in the air. His face was the very picture of smugness.

"Did you hear them, boy? I’m not someone you can afford to mess with. Just be a good dog and pay up." The driver poked Ye Xuan in the chest, his tone dripping with disdain.

Ye Xuan glanced down at him coldly. Suddenly, he raised his hand and locked in a vice grip around the man’s wrist.

"Ow, ow, ow! It hurts! Let go of me right now!" The Ferrari driver’s face twisted in agony, yet he still managed to spit out curses.

Ye Xuan’s eyes narrowed as he increased the pressure.

"Ah! You’re dead meat if you don’t let go!" the driver shrieked in pain, but Ye Xuan’s expression remained perfectly serene.

"Call your brother-in-law," Ye Xuan said in a low voice, fishing a phone out of the driver’s pocket. "I want to see just how formidable this Jingcheng Military Department really is." He then shoved the man away, leaving him to make the call.

"Fine! You’ve got guts, kid! Just you wait. I’m calling my brother-in-law right now!" The Ferrari driver glared viciously at Ye Xuan. Rubbing his sore arm, he quickly dialed a number. "Hello, brother-in-law! Someone’s bullying me! Get over here quickly! I’m at..."

Seeing that the driver had actually called his backup, the crowd erupted into a panic.

"Is this guy insane? He’s actually going up against the Military Department! Does he have a death wish?"

"Good heavens! We’d better leave before we get caught in the crossfire."

"Let’s go, let’s go. Once that guy’s brother-in-law shows up, things are going to get ugly."

In no time, the onlookers dispersed one after another, terrified of becoming collateral damage.

The old lady hadn’t expected Ye Xuan to be so unyielding. She wanted to leave, but her conscience wouldn’t let her. "Young man, just let it go. Let’s leave! You really can’t afford to provoke the Military Department!"

Ye Xuan turned to her and smiled, not a trace of panic in his eyes. "Ma’am, if you’re afraid, go ahead and take your granddaughter home. I’ll be fine."

Seeing his stubbornness, the old lady was speechless with frustration. She hesitated for a moment but ultimately chose to stay. No matter what, this young man had only offended the Ferrari driver to save her granddaughter. If she abandoned him now, she would be less than human.

"Sir..." The old lady walked up to the Ferrari driver, her brows furrowed. "Just tell me how much it will cost to fix the car. Give me a number, and I’ll pay it."

The Ferrari driver sneered at her, his face filled with disgust. "Pay? Like a broke-ass old bat like you could ever afford it! This is the latest Ferrari model. It cost me over thirty million. Besides, money isn’t going to fix this anymore. This brat pissed me off, and today, he’s going to pay the price!"

Hearing his response, the old lady frowned even deeper. Her family was actually quite well-off. While thirty million was a hefty sum, it wasn’t impossible for her to scrape together. But this man clearly had no intention of letting things go peacefully. What was she supposed to do now?

"Ma’am, you don’t need to worry about this. I promise I’ll be fine," Ye Xuan said softly, his heart warming at the sight of the old lady staying behind when everyone else had fled. He gently patted her shoulder.

"Sigh... Young man, you’re far too impulsive. But don’t worry, I’ll take care of this. Consider it repayment for saving Nannan’s life," she said, pulling out her own phone to make a call.

Seeing her determination, Ye Xuan didn’t try to dissuade her. To him, this whole ordeal wasn’t even a problem to begin with.

About ten minutes later, a bulletproof black Land Rover pulled up toward them.

The Ferrari driver’s eyes lit up with excitement the moment he saw the vehicle. "My brother-in-law is here, kid! You’re dead meat!" he gloated at Ye Xuan before jogging eagerly toward the SUV.

Several uniformed men stepped out of the vehicle. One of them was exceptionally obese, his fat jiggling with every step he took.

"Brother-in-law, you made it!" the Ferrari driver called out obsequiously to the pig-like man.
