Chapter 30: Knowing the Truth

"Stop right there! Take one more step and we won’t hold back!"

Seeing that Fierce Tiger had no intention of stopping, the lead bodyguard shouted a harsh warning. But the latter acted as if he hadn’t heard a thing, continuing his steady advance toward the main gate.

It was the bodyguards’ first time encountering someone so arrogant. They exchanged a look, let out a battle cry, and swarmed Fierce Tiger all at once.

"What is the meaning of this?! You bunch of trash! Get the hell up!"

When Su Xiaobai stepped outside, he found his bodyguards sprawled haphazardly across the entrance of the Su family villa. He froze for a moment before flying into a rage. Viciously kicking the men closest to him, he cursed at them. He had spent a fortune hiring these guys, only to find out they were completely useless.

Yet no matter how much he yelled, the bodyguards could only lie on the ground and groan, completely devoid of the strength to even stand.

"Su Xiaobai, you’d better replace these bodyguards sooner rather than later. They’re far too useless." Fierce Tiger scoffed, his eyes filled with mockery as he looked at Su Xiaobai.

Only then did the furious Su Xiaobai notice Fierce Tiger’s presence. Embarrassed and humiliated, his expression darkened as he demanded, "Who are you? You’re the one who caused all this mess, aren’t you?"

"My name is Fierce Tiger. I am the number one assassin of Qilin Hall. I sought you out this time to help you." Fierce Tiger leaned against the nearby wall, his attitude incredibly arrogant and insolent.

His words made Su Xiaobai frown and scrutinize him with sharp eyes. Although Jianghai City was far from Jingcheng, Su Xiaobai was well aware of the reputations of the Four Palaces and Qilin Hall. But was this seemingly ordinary man standing before him truly a member of the Hall?

"Su Xiaobai, it seems there’s been some trouble with that business deal you have with Buger in the Southwest." Seeing that Su Xiaobai didn’t believe him, Fierce Tiger casually dropped a sentence that caused the young master’s expression to change drastically.

"Mr. Fierce Tiger, please, come inside." Su Xiaobai’s attitude took a complete one-eighty. He made an inviting gesture toward Fierce Tiger, his tone suddenly very respectful.

His business with Buger was strictly confidential; even his father didn’t know about it. Yet this Fierce Tiger had somehow found out, and he even knew the deal had run into trouble. Anyone capable of uncovering this information had to have a formidable background, even if they weren’t truly the top assassin of Qilin Hall.

In the spacious, brightly lit, and luxuriously decorated living room, Fierce Tiger was speaking to Su Xiaobai. After hearing Fierce Tiger’s words, Su Xiaobai leapt right off the sofa, his eyes practically bulging out of his head in utter disbelief.

"What did you just say?! Ye Xuan is the Cyan Dragon Chief who vanished five years ago? That’s impossible! He’s just a useless piece of trash who leeches off women!" No matter what, Su Xiaobai simply could not believe that Ye Xuan was that once all-powerful, legendary figure. The two of them were as different as night and day. How could they possibly be the same person?

"Heh, if he wasn’t so good at disguising himself, we wouldn’t have gone five years without finding a single clue." At the thought of Ye Xuan, Fierce Tiger’s gaze sharpened intensely, and the aura around him shifted.

Sensing the chilling murderous intent radiating from Fierce Tiger, Su Xiaobai swallowed hard. He slowly sat back down on the sofa and asked cautiously, "Then... Mr. Fierce Tiger, how do you plan to deal with Ye Xuan?"

Fierce Tiger shot Su Xiaobai an indifferent glance, his eyes clearly saying he thought the young master was an idiot. "Do you really need me to come up with ideas on how to deal with him? He has made plenty of enemies in Jianghai City—like Long Tian, who just had both of his hands crippled. You should know what to do, right?"

Su Xiaobai paled in shock. He hadn’t expected Long Tian’s hands to be crippled. They had been perfectly fine when they parted ways last night. How could something like this happen over the span of a single night?

"Did Ye Xuan do it?" Su Xiaobai asked sheepishly.

"Why don’t you ask Long Tian’s father if you want to know?" Fierce Tiger caught sight of Long Peng being brought in, securely bound by several bodyguards. His eyes brimmed with ridicule.

"What is going on here?! Untie him right now!" Su Xiaobai stared at Long Peng for quite a while before finally recognizing him, hastily scolding the bodyguards to let the man go.

With their young master giving the order, the bodyguards didn’t dare disobey. They scrambled to untie Long Peng. By now, Long Peng had long lost his glamorous appearance. His hair and clothes were in complete disarray, and his body was covered in black-and-blue bruises. Furthermore, he faintly emitted an indescribable, foul stench.

Originally, Su Xiaobai had intended to personally help him up from the floor, but the moment the stench hit his nose, he frowned and immediately scrapped the idea.

"Hurry up and help Uncle Long to his feet! You bunch of blockheads! Trash! You’ll just tie up anybody, won’t you?!"

The scolded bodyguards couldn’t defend themselves, though they felt incredibly wronged. Could they really be blamed? This Patriarch of the Long family and the man sitting on the sofa had tried to force their way into the Su family villa without an appointment. Stopping them was simply part of the bodyguards’ basic duties. Yet now that they had tied the man up, they were being reprimanded for it. How unfair was that?

"Eldest Young Master Su, you have to avenge Tian’er! That damned Ye Xuan ruthlessly crippled both of his hands! How is Tian’er supposed to live from now on?!" Upon seeing Su Xiaobai, Long Peng grew incredibly emotional. He crawled and scrambled over to Su Xiaobai, hugging his thighs while sobbing and complaining, his face covered in snot and tears.

The foul stench filled Su Xiaobai’s nostrils, making him feel lightheaded for a second. Suppressing the urge to kick the man away, Su Xiaobai forced a fake smile and pulled his leg out of Long Peng’s grasp.

"Uncle Long, I’ve already heard about what happened to Tian, and it leaves me deeply saddened and furious. We absolutely cannot let this slide. We must make Ye Xuan pay in blood!"

Hearing Su Xiaobai’s words only deepened Long Peng’s hatred for Ye Xuan. Gritting his teeth audibly, he said viciously, "I will definitely see Ye Xuan dead!"

Seeing that the fish had taken the bait, a calculating gleam flashed through Su Xiaobai’s eyes. He feigned hesitation and said, "Uncle Long, I think we should take this slowly. Although Ye Xuan’s actions truly deserve death, he currently has the protection of the Yang family. It won’t be easy to make a move against him."

Long Peng’s furious expression instantly blanked, not quite understanding what Su Xiaobai meant. "Eldest Young Master Su, what do you mean by that? Are we just going to let Ye Xuan off the hook?"

"Uncle Long, don’t be angry just yet; this is only temporary. You know how difficult that woman Yang Bingyu is to deal with, and she’s currently doting on Ye Xuan. If we touch him now, I’m afraid we’ll incur her absolute wrath." Su Xiaobai deliberately put on a troubled expression, slowly leading Long Peng right into his trap.

If this were any other day, an old fox like Long Peng definitely wouldn’t have taken the bait so easily. But right now, his mind was utterly consumed with seeking revenge on Ye Xuan, and he had long since lost all rationality. Guided by Su Xiaobai’s subtle provocations, he fell for it immediately.

"Yang Bingyu, that bitch! If she tries to protect Ye Xuan, I’ll kill her along with him!"

Hearing Long Peng’s declaration, Su Xiaobai and Fierce Tiger exchanged a subtle, unnoticeable glance, the corners of both their mouths curling up into faint smiles.
