Chapter 34: Failed to Get the Marriage Certificate

Su Xiaobai’s eyes bulged so hard they practically popped out of their sockets. Staring at the data on the computer screen, he looked like he was ready to eat someone alive.

Jiang Kai trembled in terror, not daring to move an inch, terrified that Su Xiaobai would take his anger out on him.

"Ye Xuan! I’m going to kill you!"

Suddenly, Su Xiaobai smashed his fist into the computer monitor, shattering the screen upon impact.

Standing off to the side, Lin Aoxue frowned when she heard his words. What did this have to do with Ye Xuan?

"Eldest Young Master Su, what happened? Why are you so angry?" Lin Guodong asked nervously as he watched Su Xiaobai rage like a wild beast. He wondered if the wedding was going to be called off today.

"Where is Ye Xuan? Where is he?! I’m going to kill him! I swear I’ll kill him!" Su Xiaobai grabbed Lin Guodong by the collar. His eyes practically shooting fire, he demanded answers through gritted teeth.

"COUGH, COUGH... I... I don’t know... E-Eldest Young Master Su, please let go..."

Feeling like he was being strangled to death, Lin Guodong desperately pried at Su Xiaobai’s fingers, begging for mercy.

Lin Aoxue was startled by Su Xiaobai’s sudden outburst. She hastily stepped forward to intervene. "Su Xiaobai! Let go of him right now!"

By now, Lin Guodong’s face was flushed purple, his eyes bulging as he gasped for air.

"Damn it, you bitch! You’re still entangled with that trash Ye Xuan!"

At the sight of Lin Aoxue, Su Xiaobai slapped her viciously across the face, his eyes brimming with fury and murderous intent.

The forceful slap sent Lin Aoxue crashing to the floor. The metallic taste of blood quickly filled her mouth, followed by a sharp sting at the corner of her lips. Her knees also began to throb and swell from the impact.

Clutching her struck left cheek, she met Su Xiaobai’s gaze without an ounce of submission. "Su Xiaobai, if you have the guts, beat me to death right here! Let everyone see your true colors!"

Intimidated by Lin Aoxue’s stubborn, fearless demeanor, Su Xiaobai didn’t dare strike her again. He could only stand rooted to the spot, panting heavily.

"Lin Aoxue, you belong to me, Su Xiaobai. Don’t even think about escaping. Once I kill your ex-husband, no one will be left to stop us from getting married!"

After coldly dropping those words, Su Xiaobai stormed out with a dark expression, taking his bodyguards with him.

Lin Aoxue slumped on the floor, feeling as if all her strength had been instantly drained away. What exactly had happened? Why did Su Xiaobai suddenly fly into a rage? And what did any of this have to do with Ye Xuan?

A head full of questions left Lin Aoxue overwhelmed. The physical pain, compounded by the mental torment, made her agonizingly miserable.

"What on earth is going on? Weren’t you supposed to get your marriage license? Why did Eldest Young Master Su lose his temper like that?!"

Jiang Kai was just preparing to slip away when the sharp-eyed Lin Guodong grabbed him and harshly interrogated him.

Jiang Kai wanted to weep but had no tears left. If he had known this would happen, he wouldn’t have swapped shifts with his colleague even if it killed him.

"This has nothing to do with me! The data on the computer showed that Eldest Young Master Su is already married. You can’t blame me for that!"

Although the Lin Family couldn’t compare to the Su Family, they were still not an entity a regular citizen like him could afford to offend. Left with no choice, Jiang Kai told the truth.

Hearing this news, both Lin Guodong and Lin Aoxue were dumbfounded. Su Xiaobai was already married? That couldn’t be right!

Outside the door, the reporters were getting a little impatient. It was just a marriage registration; did it really need to take this long?

After waiting and waiting, they finally saw Su Xiaobai emerge. Yet for some reason, Lin Aoxue was nowhere to be seen beside him. This allowed the reporters to sniff out that something was amiss.

"Eldest Young Master Su, could you tell us what happened? Did your marriage registration go smoothly? Where did Miss Lin go?"

"Eldest Young Master Su, you don’t seem particularly happy. Did Miss Lin reject the marriage again?"

The endless barrage of questions pushed Su Xiaobai to the brink. He snatched the nearest camera and furiously smashed it onto the ground.

"Scram! All of you, get the fuck out of my face!"

Seeing this situation, it seemed today’s wedding hadn’t gone through after all.

His humiliated and infuriated outburst was entirely captured on the live broadcast. Ye Xuan couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow as he turned to look at White Snake. "What did you do?"

Watching Su Xiaobai frantically smash the camera on TV, White Snake gave a wicked smile and detailed how she had altered Su Xiaobai’s personal records.

Hearing this, Ye Xuan’s mouth twitched. Only White Snake could come up with such an underhanded trick.

"You..."

Just as Ye Xuan was about to say something, the phone in his pocket suddenly rang. At the sound of the familiar, exclusive ringtone, his body visibly stiffened.

White Snake knew how to read the room. She immediately backed away, leaving Ye Xuan alone in the living room.

Ye Xuan looked at Lin Aoxue’s name on his screen. He took a deep breath before pressing the answer button. "What is it?"

On the other end of the line, Lin Aoxue immediately regretted calling the moment she heard Ye Xuan’s voice. She didn’t even know why she had made this call.

"I’m hanging up if you aren’t going to speak."

Seeing her stay silent, Ye Xuan frowned and prepared to end the call. Lin Aoxue instantly panicked and hurriedly stopped him. "Wait! I have something to ask you."

Hearing her somewhat anxious tone, Ye Xuan paused and quietly waited for her to continue.

"Um... did you do what happened today?"

After hesitating for a moment, Lin Aoxue finally asked the question. For some reason, she was actually anticipating an affirmative answer from Ye Xuan. If he really did it, wouldn’t it at least mean that Ye Xuan still cared about her deep down?

"No."

Ye Xuan’s apathetic reply drifted into Lin Aoxue’s ears, shattering that tiny glimmer of hope in her heart.

Stunned for a second, Lin Aoxue laughed self-deprecatingly. What was she thinking? She had said such horrible things to him; why would Ye Xuan still hold on to her? Besides, altering Su Xiaobai’s personal records wasn’t something an ordinary person could do. How could Ye Xuan possibly have that kind of power?

"I didn’t marry Su Xiaobai."

Truly at a loss for words, Lin Aoxue held back for a long time before finally uttering that single sentence. But for some reason, she didn’t want to hang up and somewhat looked forward to hearing Ye Xuan’s voice. She really wanted to know how Ye Xuan would react after hearing this news.

On this end of the phone, Ye Xuan raised an eyebrow. His eyes flickered before he spoke. "Oh, what does that have to do with me?"

His utterly uncaring and cold words sent a dull ache through Lin Aoxue’s heart. Bitterness filled her chest as tears swirled in her eyes.

"Su Xiaobai seems to be blaming you for this. Be careful."

After saying that, Lin Aoxue hastily hung up the phone and covered her face, breaking down into bitter tears.

Ye Xuan blanked out slightly, his gaze dark and unreadable. It was hard to tell what he was thinking at that moment.
