Chapter 89: Return to the Yang Family

"Uncle Kui, is what Jie said true? The investment amount for this collaboration is huge; we should still be careful," Yang Bingyu reminded him kindly, her brows slightly furrowed.

Unexpectedly, upon hearing her words, Yang Kui’s face immediately fell, and he unleashed a harsh reprimand on her.

"Bingyu, I know you still hate Jie and don’t want him to return to the Yang family.

"But he is of the Yang family’s bloodline, after all. He fought hard for this collaboration opportunity. Can’t you just give him a chance to turn over a new leaf?

"Our Yang family raised you and showered you with love since you were a child. Even if you don’t know how to repay that kindness, you shouldn’t bite the hand that feeds you!"

Yang Kui’s incredibly harsh words caused Yang Bingyu’s small face to instantly turn deathly pale.

She had never harbored even the slightest intention of harming the Yang family; she had always kept their best interests at heart. She never expected her good intentions to be seen as malice in Yang Kui’s eyes.

"Uncle Kui, I didn’t mean it that way. It’s just that a couple of days ago, I saw Yang Jie walking with Su Xiaobai, and I’m afraid..." Yang Bingyu bit her lip, fighting back her sorrow as she tried to defend herself.

"Afraid of what? Are you afraid Jie is teaming up with Su Xiaobai to deal with our Yang family? Is Jie that kind of person?!" Yang Kui interrupted her sharply before she could even finish. "The reason he’s with Su Xiaobai is because Su Xiaobai saved him! You and Ye Xuan kicking Jie out of the house was forcing him to his death!

"If Su Xiaobai hadn’t kindly lent a helping hand, my son would already be in his grave!"

He had always held a grudge against Yang Bingyu and Ye Xuan over Yang Jie being expelled from the Yang family. Now that Jie finally had the chance to return, he naturally wouldn’t let anyone stand in his way.

The hatred in Yang Kui’s eyes made Yang Bingyu involuntarily shudder. She wondered if this was still the same Uncle Kui who used to carry her on his shoulders when she was little. Why did he feel so distant, as if she had never known him at all?

"Enough!" The argument between the two was making Yang Zhennan incredibly irritated. Slapping the armrest of his wheelchair fiercely, he shouted the stern reprimand.

"Grandpa, please don’t get angry!" Yang Bingyu pleaded. Her biggest fear right now was Yang Zhennan getting upset. What if the stress triggered a medical emergency?

Yang Kui reined in his temper as well, not daring to provoke the old man any further. He crouched down and pleaded once more, "Dad, just let Jie come back. He already knows he was wrong. Just let him return so he can fulfill his filial duties to you."

Hearing this, Yang Zhennan’s eyes flickered, and he cast a conflicted glance at Yang Bingyu. He knew his days were numbered, so he naturally hoped Yang Jie could return. At the very least, he wanted to enjoy the bliss of a reunited family in the time he had left.

"Grandpa, if you really want Yang Jie to come back, then let him come back," Yang Bingyu said understandingly, seeing through his thoughts and suppressing the ache in her heart.

Overjoyed to see her relent, Yang Kui immediately called Yang Jie.

"Hello! Jie, Grandpa has agreed to let you come home!"

He paused to listen.

"Mhm, where are you? Do you need me to send someone to pick you up?"

Another pause.

"Okay, okay. I’ll wait for you at home."

Yang Kui made the call with an excited expression, completely disregarding Yang Bingyu’s feelings as she stood right beside him.

Yang Bingyu felt both angry and devastated, no longer wanting to stay there. "Grandpa, I’m not feeling well. I’m going back to my room first."

With that, without waiting for Yang Zhennan to speak, she turned and hurried away.

Watching her dejected back, Yang Zhennan let out a heavy sigh. He knew that the Yang family owed her, after all.

"Tell Yang Jie not to come back to this house. Have him live outside for now, so Bingyu doesn’t get upset seeing him," Yang Zhennan decided after careful consideration.

The previously beaming Yang Kui instantly dropped his smile. "Dad, didn’t you agree to let Jie return to the Yang family? Now this..."

Knowing that Yang Kui had misunderstood his meaning, Yang Zhennan reached up to massage his temples and said tiredly, "Don’t worry, he is still a member of the Yang family. I’m just having him stay outside for the time being."

Hearing this, Yang Kui finally breathed a sigh of relief. He concealed the fleeting murderous glint in his eyes and feigned a thoroughly filial demeanor, crouching back down to look at the old man. "Dad, you look a bit tired. Let me wheel you inside."

No longer in the mood to bask in the sun, Yang Zhennan grunted in agreement, continuing to rub his temples.

Meanwhile, Yang Bingyu drove alone to Yunju Mountain Villa. She desperately needed to vent the bitter frustration pent up inside her.

She had initially hoped Ye Xuan could comfort her, but to her surprise, he wasn’t at the villa. Staring at the empty house, her emotions bordered on a breakdown.

At that moment, Ye Xuan was busy cozying up to Lin Aoxue in her little nest. The two were right in the middle of an intimate moment when his phone suddenly rang.

"You... you should answer the phone first," Lin Aoxue said between soft pants, her face flushed red as she pushed against Ye Xuan, who was pressing down on her.

Ye Xuan furrowed his brows, a trace of displeasure flashing in his eyes. He thought this caller was incredibly annoying for ruining his good time.

He had originally intended to toss it aside and ignore it, but the ringtone buzzed relentlessly like a ticking bomb. Muttering a low curse, he stopped what he was doing and reached for his phone. When he saw the caller ID, his frown deepened.

"I’m going to take this," he told Lin Aoxue. Pulling the blanket up to cover her disheveled clothes, he took the phone and stepped out onto the balcony. "Hello, Bingyu. What’s wrong?" he asked, having cleared his throat before answering the call.

The moment the call connected, Yang Bingyu let out a loud WAIL.

The sudden crying startled Ye Xuan on the other end, prompting him to ask in a panic, "Bingyu, what’s wrong? What happened? Tell me, just don’t cry first."

For the past few days, Yang Bingyu had been staying at the Yang family home to accompany Yang Zhennan and hadn’t clung to Ye Xuan much. Seeing that she had no time for him, Ye Xuan had come out for a secret rendezvous with Lin Aoxue. He never expected that not long after they met up, something would go wrong on Bingyu’s end.

"Sob... Ye... Ye Xuan, Grandpa... he agreed to let Yang Jie come... come back," she choked out between sobs. "I... I agreed so he would be a little hap... happier. But... but I’m so sad..."

Hearing her words, Ye Xuan’s eyes instantly darkened. How long had it been, and Yang Zhennan had already forgotten his warning? It seemed the lesson he taught him last time hadn’t been harsh enough.

"Bingyu, stop crying. I will handle this matter," he said.

Hearing that he was going to intervene, Yang Bingyu panicked. She had mainly called just to vent her emotions, not for him to take revenge on her behalf. If Ye Xuan went to confront Yang Zhennan and ended up terrifying the old man into a medical emergency, that would be the absolute last thing she wanted.
