Chapter 91: You Must Take Responsibility
Chapter 91: You Must Take Responsibility
Fierce Tiger didn’t finish his sentence, but Su Xiaobai had already guessed what he was about to say. Yang Zhennan was on his last legs; once he died, the Yang family would completely lose its backbone. And if Yang Kui turned traitor, dealing with the Yang family and Ye Xuan would be a walk in the park.
But the problem now was, how could they ensure Yang Jie died at Ye Xuan’s hands?
"Do you have some brilliant plan?" Seeing Fierce Tiger’s confident expression, Su Xiaobai immediately asked in excitement.
"Didn’t Yang Jie set up a dinner party tonight, saying he was going to gift Xiao Ran a great beauty?" Fierce Tiger gave a wicked smile and spoke casually.
Su Xiaobai nodded, but he still didn’t quite understand what Fierce Tiger meant by this.
"The great beauty he’s talking about is Lin Aoxue."
Hearing the name Lin Aoxue, Su Xiaobai’s face instantly darkened. His hands clenched tightly into fists, and with one violent kick, he smashed the television to pieces.
"He wouldn’t dare! Lin Aoxue is mine! If he dares to lay a single finger on her, I’ll kill him!" Su Xiaobai hadn’t expected Yang Jie to actually target his woman. He was driven mad with rage, wishing he could grab a knife and rush over to slaughter Yang Jie right then and there.
"Useless trash!" Fierce Tiger’s face immediately fell upon seeing his reaction, and he barked out a harsh reprimand.
Su Xiaobai was frightened by his Rakshasa-like expression. Not daring to throw a tantrum anymore, he forcefully suppressed his anger and said, "Lin Aoxue is my woman. I won’t let anyone else touch her!"
Hearing this, Fierce Tiger responded by directly slapping Su Xiaobai across the face. A man destined for great things would never place too much importance on women. In their eyes, any woman was merely a plaything.
Su Xiaobai was completely stunned by the blow. Cradling his struck cheek, he couldn’t speak a word for a long time.
"Your woman? She’s probably been thoroughly used by Ye Xuan ages ago! What’s there to be so attached to about a woman who’s already been played with by another man?
"If you can accept her sleeping with Ye Xuan, what’s wrong with letting her accompany Xiao Ran one more time?
"Once you strike it rich in the future, what kind of woman won’t you be able to get? You really are a worthless piece of trash who ruins everything!"
Fierce Tiger looked at his cowardly appearance, his eyes full of disdain and mockery.
Berated like this, Su Xiaobai’s face flushed and paled. He remained silent for a long time before finally lowering his gaze. In truth, he understood everything Fierce Tiger said, but as a man, he had an innate possessiveness over what belonged to him. Just the thought of Lin Aoxue pinned beneath another man drove him mad with jealousy.
"Anyway, this is your one and only chance. Whether you choose a woman or your career, figure it out yourself." Fierce Tiger didn’t waste any more breath. He tossed out those words and left.
Su Xiaobai stood rooted to the spot for a long time before finally making a decision. Fierce Tiger was right—he needed to become strong! He reasoned that as long as he was powerful enough, there was no woman he couldn’t have. Women were just playthings for men, after all, and if he lost Lin Aoxue, there would always be others. He hypnotized himself with these thoughts, desperate to ease the ache in his chest.
Meanwhile, the foolish Lin Aoxue had no idea that she had already fallen into a massive, inescapable net, and was still at home carefully applying her makeup.
After Ye Xuan picked up Yang Bingyu, the two headed toward the seaside. Along the way, Yang Bingyu lacked her usual enthusiasm and barely spoke. Knowing she was in a gloomy mood, Ye Xuan didn’t say much either and merely drove in silence.
"When I was little, Uncle Kui loved bringing me to the beach to play. He would always find lots of pretty seashells," the long-silent Yang Bingyu suddenly spoke up. "He also loved carrying me on his shoulders for piggyback rides. He spent more time with me than my dad did.
"In the past, I always comforted myself by saying that my dad was the Patriarch of the Yang family and had many things to busy himself with, which was why he didn’t have time for me.
"But now it seems that wasn’t the case at all. The reason he wasn’t close to me is because I’m not his biological daughter to begin with."
Her words made Ye Xuan unconsciously tighten his grip on the steering wheel. He knew that, deep down, Yang Bingyu still cared very much about her true parentage. She had just been holding it in so others wouldn’t worry.
"Uncle Kui said a lot to me today. He said I was biting the hand that fed me and was ungrateful for all their kindness.
"I’m really sad. I know his heart aches for Yang Jie, but I’m the victim here.
"Ye Xuan, tell me, is having a blood connection really that important?"
As she spoke, Yang Bingyu was almost completely shrouded in sorrow. Ye Xuan’s heart ached terribly as he looked at her. He reached out to ruffle her hair and comforted her. "It’s okay. Sometimes it’s a good thing to see people’s true colors. Don’t be sad, Bingyu. Aren’t I here with you?"
Hearing Ye Xuan’s words, Yang Bingyu finally turned her head to look at him. "Then will you always stay with me?"
Facing Yang Bingyu’s burning gaze, Ye Xuan truly couldn’t utter a word of refusal. His eyes flickered, and he gave a gentle nod.
"I will always stay by your side and protect you as an older brother," Ye Xuan promised in his heart.
"Ye Xuan, if—and I just mean if—the Yang family doesn’t want me anymore, you’ll be all I have left.
"You have to stay with me when that time comes. You can’t break your promise, or else I’ll hate you."
Yang Bingyu knew Ye Xuan didn’t love her romantically, but she couldn’t care less about that anymore. As long as Ye Xuan stayed by her side, it was enough. She believed that, one day, she would eventually warm his heart.
Hearing these words, Ye Xuan’s heart gave a fierce jolt. He kept his eyes fixed straight ahead, not daring to look at Yang Bingyu. Seeing Ye Xuan avoid the topic, Yang Bingyu’s eyes dimmed a fraction, a faint sense of unwillingness and anger welling up inside her. However, she didn’t let those emotions show. Instead, she turned her head away and continued gazing at the passing scenery outside the window.
Soon, the two arrived at the seaside. Yang Bingyu sat on the sandy beach, looking out at the boundless ocean. Her depressed mood finally lightened up a little.
"Ah!" Cupping her hands around her mouth like a megaphone, she shouted loudly toward the sea, venting all the unhappiness in her heart.
Ye Xuan sat beside her, observing Yang Bingyu’s pretty profile. Seeing that the sea breeze had tangled her hair, he reached out to smooth it down for her. Feeling Ye Xuan’s gentleness, Yang Bingyu’s heart skipped a beat. Her eyes flickered, and a bold idea suddenly formed in her mind.
"Ye Xuan, I like you!" Gathering all her courage, she suddenly shouted those words out toward the ocean.
Ye Xuan froze on the spot. He stared at Yang Bingyu in astonishment, never expecting her to confess her feelings right out in the open like this.
"Why are you looking at me like that? You’re making me all embarrassed." Turning her head and seeing Ye Xuan staring blankly at her, Yang Bingyu’s cheeks flushed slightly as she spoke bashfully.
"Bingyu, you..."
"We’re already married, can’t I at least confess my feelings? Besides, we’ve already done it, so you have to take responsibility."
Ye Xuan had originally wanted to come clean to Yang Bingyu, but the moment he opened his mouth, he was cut off.
