Narrator's Pov

●~●

"BRAT! GET DOWN HERE AND CLEAN THE KITCHEN!"
"C-Coming m-ma'am!" An ash blonde boy ran down the stairs, his cat ears flush against his head and his tail between his legs, as he ran to get cleaning supplies and came to the kitchen and started cleaning.
"YOU'RE DOING IT WRONG!"
Slap
"UNGRATEFUL BRAT!" A huge red mark was on his cheek as he stood still trying to hold the tears and whimpers back as he waited for the next hit.
Slap
"NEVER DOING ANYTHING RIGHT!"
Slap
"YOU'RE LUCKY YOU EVEN LIVE HERE!"
Slap
"GET TO WORK OR YOU ARE NOT GETTING ANY SLEEP TONIGHT!"
Slap, slap, slap
"O-Of course m-ma'am...I-I'll get to work r-right away..." He went on his hands and knees and started washing the floors as his mother tsked and walked away from him, grabbing another wine bottle on her way out.

"..." A tear slid from his face and landed on the floor as he quietly sobbed kneeling on the kitchen floor. He realized what was happening to him a month ago...

He was being abused

He didn't know he was until he read it in a storybook that his mother accidentally left out one morning. Once he read that, it told him that mothers were supposed to be caring of their child and not hurt them or tell them to do stuff for them for free.

His whole life he lived in isolation he has never seen the outside world and could only imagine what it would look like in his head. His mother told him a lot about it though, most of it was through a drunken haze that she forgot within the next 5 minutes but it was a brief summary.

It was a dark and cold world with hardly any green and people died everyday and that he should be lucky he hasn't yet. And boy was he glad because he didn't want to die just yet and he wanted to see what his mother described.

Yes, maybe she was a cruel woman that abused her son and manipulated him into many different things, but she (when she wasn't drunk) was a really kind woman and she got into drinking when her husband died shortly after Katsuki was born, from a car accident. She blamed herself and used her rage on him.

He finished cleaning the floors and moved onto the bunkers making sure everything was spotless and filled to the brim and placed back where he found it. He then moved onto the cupboards and cleaned them throughly doing exactly what he did with the bunkers and went through them one by one cleaning and inspecting every single one making sure it was spotless not even a piece of dust left.

He finally finished cleaning the kitchen and sighed, he was exhausted and just wanted to sleep but he knew better than to do anything without permission so he just sat on the kitchen floor waiting for instructions.

He sat there for a good 4 hours, he was starving, tired and numb. He knew he couldn't fall asleep there or leave that spot so he just sat there still waiting for his mother to return.

He suddenly perked up his ears as an unknown noise was outside the house, it was a whirring and the vibrations were heavy, that made him cower back, he could hear gravel crunching underneath its weight. Scared, he crawled backwards staying in the kitchen, fearful of the punishment would be if he left.

He could hear footsteps coming closer to the house and they weren't sloppy or drunken like his mother would usually be like. He got really scared and hid behind the kitchen island looking over the top at the front door that was always locked.

It opened easily and he shivered at the night breeze that followed. He looked back at the door seeing a big dark shadow tower in the doorway.

Frightened he crawled back and his eyes were beginning to water, that was the first person he has ever seen (except of course his mother) and he was definitely beginning to think what his mother told him was true. That they were all selfish, greedy, scary and wanted nothing but pain.

The loud footsteps echoed in the house entrance making him shiver and hug his shaking body to try and control the sobs that were slowly trying to make itself out of his throat. He hugged his knees close to his chest and burried his head in his arms.

He could hear the sharp footsteps of his mother quickly walking to the entrance and he could hear in her steps that she wasn't that drunk.

"WHAT ARE YOU DOING IN MY HOUSE!?"
"You still owe us"
"NO I FUCKING DON'T! I PAID BACK ALL OF MY DEBTS!"
"It says here you only paid half. And it is 2 months past the due date. The boss wants something valuable in exchange for you being set free from the debt."
"..."
"Wait here..."

He could hear the sharp walk of his mother coming towards him in the kitchen he bit his lip when his mothers steps stopped it told him his mother was staring right at him. He let go of his shaking knees and slowly kneeled on the ground, he was tought to do that anytime his mother just stared at him. He bowed his head waiting for his mothers orders.

"Go with them brat" What...? Is he being taken away from her...?
"M-Ma'am...?"
"Go before I give you a beating!" He shivered at that and nodded his head staring down at the ground.
"Stand" He stood silently and the men at the door looked at him wondering.
"Now go over to them and kneel" He did just that and kneeled infront of them even with the stares that made him uncomfortable. She walked back over and talked to the man that was the largest, the leader.
"There you go, debt repaid, he will do good to you. He will do anything you ask, look: Brat! Stand up and give these men a drink of my finest wine!"
"Yes ma'am..." He walked off and the men stared at him the whole entire time as he did as he was told.

He could hear them while he was preparing the wine.
"So? We have a deal?" Silence for a little and a few whispers between the two men at the door to freedom.
"Deal"
"Oh wonderful! Brat! Hurry up! Or do you want the special!?" He tensed up at that and hurried as fast as he could making sure he didn't make a single mistake. He was done the wine in 3 minutes and he hurried back through carrying 4 wine glasses. Two for his mother and one each for the men. His mother gladly took both and started to sip, she waved her hand at him and he went to his corner in the livingroom that was just a few newspapers and one bottle of water.

They followed her as she took a seat on the couch and they did too. He sat up and posed for them, his mother always said to sit up straight and to always have a neutral face when someone else was here. But no one was actually here for him to do that, so he did it now.

The men stared at him then shared a few whispers between eachother. They then turned to my mother to ask a question I was wondering my whole life.
"Why is he a cat?" My mother tensed up and looked at me with something I have never seen before...guilt...
"He was experimented on as a baby and they made him look and act like a cat. Scared of loud noises, licks his hand a little when he is nervous, grooms himself, runs around when he is excited, sleeps as soon as he gets the chance to...eats as though he hasn't in days..." That all was true...except the last part...he hasn't eaten in days...
"And he always enjoys being pet..." The men looked at him then to his mother and back again until he was dizzy looking at them doing it over and over again, he was sleepy and nearly passed out then and there, but the fear of what would happen kept him awake and on high alert.

"Boss would love him, let's get going. But before we take him, what's his name?" Name? People were given names? He didn't know what his own was and always assumed she called him "cat" because he was a cat and she called him brat when she was excited or angry. So hearing that he had a name made him confused.
"His name is..." She looked at him and gave him a sorrowful smile then turned back to the men and gave them her best fake smile.
"Katsuki Bakugou"

"Alright, let's go grab him and tie him up so he doesn't have a chance to run away" Hah!? Tie him up!? No way! He was pulled to his feet all of a sudden and yanked forward he let out a whimper of pain and looked at his mother. She was smiling but he could see sadness in her eyes, he looked at her as he was being tied up and let out a few tears as he was dragged away again.

They made it out of the house and he could feel the cold night air hit his skin making him shiver and whimper, wanting to be back with his mother no matter how much pain he was in she was still there...and they were still family.

He looked at his surroundings as he never was outside and he could see the black sky that lit up in some places with things that were called stars, if he could remember correctly. He looked from side to side seeing grass and trees, thing he thought his mother told him were long ago dead. He looked infront of him and there stood a metal box with wheels, it was black and had no windows in the back but at the front it had a big window.

He winced as his bare feet hit the gravel path, the stones dug into his feet making him bite his lip to not make a sound. He was half dragged to the metal box thingy? And it opened when one of the men went over to it and pulled it by a handle? He couldn't tell. He was then picked up by his sides, he yelped when the cold hands touched him. And as he was never picked up before, he squirmed.

"Be still!" He immediately went still and let the man place him gently in the metal container.
"Wow, was she right? You do do anything we say~" The other man walked over and hit the man on the back of his head making Katsuki flinch and the man grunt.
"You couldn't of been gentler...?"
"No! Now get in!" The man came in the container and sat next to Katsuki, close...too close...

The other went in the front and the whirring and vibrating was back, he jumped at the sound and the feel of the container moving, but he was held down by the man next to him. He whimpered a little and gulped at the feeling of dread in his chest.

Who are they?
Where are they going?
Will he see his mother again?
Is this going to kill him...?
