Afterword
HELLO, THIS IS Yuka Tachibana. Thank you for buying The Saint’s Magic Power is Omnipotent, Volume Four.
It’s thanks to you that this story made it so far. I was pretty surprised that I managed to continue the story this long. I’d like to thank you all for always cheering me on. As usual, Volume Three ended on a cliffhanger, so I wanted to get this book out as soon as possible. I’m relieved I managed to make it within a year.
I’d also like to thank my editor, W from Kadokawa Books, for this volume. He made every effort to adjust the schedule for me on this book. I’m always causing trouble for other people in addition to W, so I apologize for that. Thank you for everything. One of these days, I’ll be able to follow the original schedule to the letter…
So, did you all enjoy this volume? From this point on there will be some spoilers, so please make sure to read the main story first.
When writing this afterword, I looked back at the one I wrote for Volume Three and noticed I had written that I wanted to develop Sei’s relationship with Albert. Now looking back at this volume, I’m not sure if I can say there’s been any development at all. I didn’t have any specific plans, but how did this happen? There’s just not much happening between them, since I’m trying to write the story while balancing it against Sei’s low level in love. She really only thinks about herbs and work. This series was supposed to be romantic, so I’d like Sei to put a little more effort in. Huh? I should shift the responsibility to Albert instead? …Sorry, Albert.
I feel like the grand magus played a bigger role than Albert did. Sei used her powers more often in this volume, so perhaps that meant Yuri would inevitably appear more often, given his obsession with magic, but I don’t think he was around too much. Yuri’s an easy character to write, or perhaps I should say he writes himself, so I realized that unless I’m careful, he might start taking over. Some other characters are similarly easy to write, but Albert isn’t one of them, so that might be why there’s still such little development in their relationship (and a certain someone else’s problem).
Even so, due to various circumstances (mostly because of me), the Klausner’s Domain arc stretched over two volumes. However, we finally got the word “muscle” to show up in the bibliographic information. My editor wrote it, and I burst out laughing when he sent it over text message for me to check. Thank you for the great write-up, W. I had personally been thinking of these two volumes as the muscle volumes, so maybe I should’ve gone a bit crazier with it? I was worried that I’d lose readers by inserting too many of my own interests, but I think I want to add more muscles here and there from now on.
I also want there to be a bit more romance in Volume Five. And more of the easy life! I want to go back to an easy life! I realized nothing ever happens between Sei and Albert when I push Sei’s job as the Saint too much! Sei really is such a workaholic in the way she always chooses work over romance. Admittedly, she’d deny that. And probably tell me to shut it because I’m the one making her work.
Yasuyuki Syuri did the art for this volume, too. Thank you for more wonderful illustrations. Personally, I was glad to see so many of Sei this time. She’s just so cute… And Aira’s on the cover, too, so there’s lots of girls, which makes me happy. And also, Yuri! I like the picture of Yuri staring at Sei. He has a really nice smile on his face (lol). If I had to choose a favorite from all of the pictures in this volume, it would be that one—that’s just how much I like it. I want to see more illustrations of Sei, so I’m going to keep working hard to write more volumes.
Thankfully, the manga is still going, too. It’s doing quite well. Starting with Fujiazuki-sensei, I’d like to say thank you to everyone involved. While I wrote the original story, I found myself unconsciously drawn into it whenever I had to check the scripts and kept forgetting what I was supposed to be doing. Recently, I’ve been reading it once for pleasure and then making a second pass to actually do my checks. The chibi characters are so cute and bring a smile to my face every time I see them.
You can read the wonderful manga version at ComicWalker, pixiv Comic, and Nico Nico Seiga*. You can read part of it for free, so please do so if you’re interested. The latest chapter has a scene where Sei and Albert are flirting, so you can replenish your thirst for romance by reading the manga instead.
Lastly, thank you for reading up until this point. I’m going to work as hard as I can to get Volume Five into your hands as soon as possible. I hope to see you again soon.
* Look for it in English, also from Seven Seas!
