104: Shadows and Spells 104: Shadows and Spells The next few days passed in a whirlwind of fashion shows, clandestine meetings, and stolen moments of magical training on the ramp and on stage.

Mishka felt as though she was living two lives – one in the glittering world of Milan’s fashion week, and another in a shadowy realm of spells and secrets.

On the third night after Bruce’s revelation, Mishka found herself in a secluded courtyard behind their hotel.

The moon hung low and full in the sky, casting an ethereal glow over the ancient stonework.

Bruce stood in front of her, his eyes gleaming with an otherworldly light.

“Are you ready?” he asked, his voice low and intense.

Mishka nodded, trying to quell the nervous flutter in her stomach.

“I’m ready.”

Bruce began to speak, his words in a language Mishka didn’t recognize.

The air around them seemed to thicken, charged with an invisible energy.

Mishka felt a tingling sensation spread from her fingers to her toes.

Suddenly, a gust of wind whipped through the courtyard, causing the leaves on the nearby trees to rustle violently.

Mishka gasped as she felt something invisible wrap around her, like a cocoon of energy.

“That’s it,” Bruce said, his voice filled with pride.

“You’ve got your first protection spell.”

Mishka looked down at her hands in wonder, half expecting to see visible evidence of the magic.

“I don’t feel any different,” she murmured.

Bruce chuckled softly.

“You won’t, not really.

But trust me, it’s there.

It’ll help shield you from minor magical attacks and detection spells.”

“No, really?

So, this actually works?” she asked looking around herself with her eyes stretched wide in wonder.

“It does, but you must get used to it, of course.

You will in time, believe me,” Bruce responded with a glittering smile, full of self-confidence.

“I wish it could be more tangible,” Mishka remarked with an exhilarated giggle as she studied her arms.

“It’s real, don’t worry.

But let’s get back inside before someone misses us,” Bruce responded in an urgent, low tone.

Mishka easily locked her arm into his and walked briskly next to him, excited about what could happen next.

As they made their way back to their rooms, Mishka couldn’t shake the feeling of being watched.

She glanced over her shoulder, but the shadows remained still and silent.

Inside their suite, Graham was waiting for them, his face pale and drawn.

“I’ve got news,” he said without preamble.

“And it’s not good.”

Bruce and Mishka exchanged worried glances as they sat down to hear Graham’s report.

“The magician your grandmother is working with,” Graham began, his voice barely above a whisper, “is known in certain circles as the Shadow Weaver.

He’s powerful, dangerous, and completely amoral.

He’ll do anything for the right price.”

Mishka felt a chill run down her spine.

“What does he want?”

Graham shook his head.

“That’s the thing – no one knows.

But whatever it is, it’s big.

There are whispers of a ritual, something that requires a lot of power.”

Bruce’s eyes narrowed.

“A ritual that requires a lot of power…

and a werewolf,” he said grimly.

The implications of his words hung heavy in the air.

Mishka felt her heart race, fear and anger warring inside her.

How could her grandmother be involved in something so sinister?

“There’s more,” Graham continued, his voice shaking slightly.

“I think they know we’re onto them.

My contact…

he disappeared right after giving me this information.

I can’t reach him anymore.”

The room fell silent, the gravity of the situation weighing on all of them.

Mishka felt tears prick at her eyes, overwhelmed by the danger they were facing.

Bruce moved to her side, wrapping an arm around her shoulders.

“We’ll figure this out,” he said softly.

“We’re not alone in this fight.”

As if on cue, Mishka’s phone buzzed.

It was a message from Gillian: “Something’s happening at your house.

Your father is acting strange.

Be careful.”

Mishka showed the message to Bruce and Graham, her hands trembling.

“We have to go back,” she said, her voice filled with determination.

“Whatever this Shadow Weaver is planning, it’s happening soon.

We need to stop it.”

Bruce nodded, his eyes flashing with a hint of amber.

“We’ll leave tonight.

The fashion show will have to wait for next time.”

As they hurriedly packed their bags, Mishka couldn’t shake the feeling that they were racing against time.

The Shadow Weaver, her grandmother, the mysterious ritual – it all swirled in her mind like a dark storm cloud.

But as she caught Bruce’s eye, saw the strength and resolve in his gaze, she felt a flicker of hope.

They had magic on their side now, and more importantly, they had each other.

As they slipped out of the hotel under the cover of darkness, Mishka squared her shoulders.

She was no longer just a singer caught between two worlds.

She was a woman ready to fight for her future, her family, and the man she loved.

The battle was about to begin, and Mishka was determined to emerge victorious, no matter the cost.

As Bruce, Mishka, and Graham rushed through the dimly lit hotel corridor towards the elevator, their plans for a swift departure were suddenly interrupted.

Graham’s phone buzzed insistently in his pocket.

He pulled it out, his face contorting in a mix of confusion and dismay as he read the message.

“Oh no,” he muttered, stopping abruptly.

Bruce and Mishka turned to him, concern etched on their faces.

“What is it?” Mishka asked, her voice tinged with worry.

Graham ran a hand through his perfectly styled hair, messing it up in a way that would have horrified him just days ago.

“It’s Jean,” he said, his voice a mixture of exasperation and disbelief.

“She’s here.

In Milan.”

Bruce’s eyes widened.

“Jean?

But why would she-”

“She followed me,” Graham interrupted, his voice rising slightly.

“Apparently, she’s convinced that I am really some sort of wealthy fashion mogul.

She doesn’t want you anymore, Bruce.

She’s set her sights on me.”

Despite the gravity of their situation, Mishka couldn’t suppress a small, incredulous laugh.

“I’m sorry,” she said quickly, covering her mouth.

“It’s just…

of all the times for this to happen.”

Bruce shook his head, a wry smile tugging at his lips.

“Jean never did have good timing.

But Graham, this is serious.

She’s a werewolf, and an unstable one at that.

We can’t just leave you here to deal with her alone.”

Graham’s face paled.

“I can’t go back with you.

If I leave now, there’s no telling what Jean might do.

She could expose everything – the werewolves, the magic, all of it.”

The trio stood in tense silence for a moment, the weight of this new complication bearing down on them.

The soft ping of the elevator arriving on their floor broke the silence, reminding them of the urgency of their situation.

Mishka stepped forward, placing a comforting hand on Graham’s arm.

“You’re right.

You can’t come with us.

But you can’t face Jean alone either.”

Bruce nodded in agreement.

“I have an idea,” he said, his voice low and intense.

“Graham, I’m going to teach you a basic protection spell.

It won’t stop Jean entirely, but it might give you an edge if she tries anything…

wolfish.”

Graham’s eyes widened.

“Me?

Magic?

But I’m not-”

“You don’t have to be supernatural to use basic protection spells,” Bruce interrupted.

“And right now, we don’t have much choice.”

As Bruce quickly went through the motions of the spell with Graham, Mishka kept watch, her nerves on edge.

Every sound in the quiet hotel corridor made her jump, half-expecting jealous Jean or some other threat to appear at any moment.

“There,” Bruce said finally, stepping back from Graham.

“It’s not much, but it’s something.

Remember the words I taught you if you need to reinforce it.”

Graham nodded, looking both awed and terrified.

“What do I do now?”

“Keep Jean distracted,” Mishka said.

“Make her think you’re interested, but don’t commit to anything.

We’ll contact you as soon as we can with more information.”

Bruce added, “And whatever you do, don’t let her know about the magic.

Play dumb if you have to.

Graham took a deep breath, squaring his shoulders.

“I can do that.

I’m a model, after all.

Acting is part of the job.”

As they said their hurried goodbyes, Mishka felt a pang of guilt for leaving Graham behind.

But they had no choice.

The threat waiting for them back home was too great to ignore.

In the elevator, descending towards the lobby and their waiting taxi, Bruce took Mishka’s hand.

“Are you ready for this?” he asked softly.

Mishka met his gaze, seeing the mix of concern and determination in his eyes.

She squeezed his hand.

“As ready as I’ll ever be.

Let’s go save my family from themselves.”

As they stepped out into the cool night air of Milan, leaving the glitz and glamour of the fashion world behind, Mishka couldn’t shake the feeling that they were walking into something far more dangerous than they could imagine.

But with Bruce by her side and the newfound power of magic thrumming through her veins, she felt ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead.

Little did they know, the Shadow Weaver was already several steps ahead, and the ritual they feared was closer to completion than they could have possibly imagined.
