110: Strategizing against the Pack 110: Strategizing against the Pack The iron gates of Bruce’s sprawling mansion creaked open as Mishka’s car pulled up the long, winding driveway.

The gothic architecture loomed against the darkening sky, a fitting backdrop for the unusual discussion that was about to take place.

As Mishka stepped out of the car, she saw Bruce waiting for her on the front steps.

His usually impeccable fashion sense was slightly dishevelled, a testament to the stress of recent events.

Behind him stood Graham, the werewolf fashion model who had become their ally during the tumultuous events in Italy.

His chiselled features were set in a concerned expression.

“Glad you made it safely,” Bruce said, pulling Mishka into a tight embrace.

She could feel the tension in his muscles, a reminder of the constant vigilance required in their new reality.

Graham nodded in greeting.

“Let’s take this inside.

We’ve got a lot to discuss, and these walls have better protection against prying ears…

or noses,” he cautioned as he cast a quick glance over the woods beyond the mansion.

The trio made their way to Bruce’s study, a room that seemed to bridge the gap between the fashion world and the supernatural.

Sketches of haute couture designs shared wall space with ancient tomes on lycanthropy and folklore.

Bruce poured them each a glass of amber liquid from a crystal decanter.

“Dutch courage,” he said with a wry smile.

“We might need it.”

Mishka took a small sip, the burn of the alcohol matching the fire of determination in her chest.

The atmosphere was so different from the cosy safety of the farmhouse kitchen which she had just left.

“Alright, let’s talk about Jean and Lucinda.

Their obsession is getting out of hand.”

Graham nodded, his eyes narrowing.

“Those two have always been trouble, but now they’re a genuine threat.

They’re not just after me and Bruce anymore – they see you as competition, Mishka.

And they’re not above using their wolf nature to eliminate that competition.”

Bruce ran a hand through his hair, a rare display of frustration.

“We need a plan to keep them at bay, at least until we can figure out a more permanent solution.”

“What about some kind of protection?” Mishka suggested, thinking practically.

“Something that could keep them physically away from us?”

Graham shook his head.

“Physical barriers can work, but they’re not fool proof.

Plus, they’d raise suspicion if Jean and Lucinda can’t approach you in public settings.”

“We need something more subtle,” Bruce mused.

“Something that will deter them without revealing our hand.”

Mishka’s mind raced, considering their options.

Suddenly, an idea struck her.

“What if we use their obsession against them?

Create a distraction that’s too tempting for them to ignore?”

Bruce and Graham looked at her with interest.

“Go on,” Bruce encouraged.

“We could start a rumor about a rare artifact – something irresistible to werewolves.

Maybe a moonstone that enhances their powers, or an ancient wolf totem that grants control over transformations.

We make sure Jean and Lucinda hear about it, and…”

“…and they’ll be too busy chasing after it to bother us,” Graham finished, a glimmer of approval in his eyes.

“It’s risky, but it could work.”

Bruce nodded slowly.

“I like it.

We can use my fashion connections to spread the rumor.

Maybe hint that I’m using this artifact as inspiration for my next collection.

That’ll pique their interest for sure.”

“We’ll need to be careful,” Graham warned.

“If they realize it’s a wild goose chase, they might come back even more aggressive.”

“Then we make sure the chase lasts as long as possible,” Mishka said firmly.

“We can leave false clues, misdirect them across the country if we have to.

It’ll give us time to figure out a more permanent solution.”

Bruce reached out and took Mishka’s hand.

“It’s a solid plan.

But are you sure you’re ready for this?

It won’t be easy, keeping up this charade while also dealing with your grandmother and everything else going on.”

Mishka squeezed his hand, feeling the strength of their connection.

“I’m sure.

We’re in this together, remember?

Besides, I’m getting pretty good at keeping secrets these days.”

Graham stood up, his expression resolute.

“Alright then.

I’ll use my contacts in the modeling world to help spread the rumors.

Bruce, you handle the fashion industry angle.

And Mishka…”

“I’ll work on keeping a low profile and staying safe,” she finished.

“Just in case Jean and Lucinda see through our plan.”

As they finalized the details of their strategy, Mishka felt a mix of excitement and apprehension.

This plan could give them the breathing room they desperately needed, but it was also another step deeper into the complex world she was still learning to navigate.

Looking at Bruce and Graham, she realized that despite the dangers, she wouldn’t want to face this challenge with anyone else.

As the night wore on and the plan took shape, Mishka allowed herself a small smile.

Jean and Lucinda might be obsessed, but they were about to learn that they weren’t the only ones who could play games of deception and desire.

As the group finalized their plan, a sudden gust of wind rattled the windows, causing Mishka to jump.

Bruce instinctively moved closer to her, his body tense.

“They’re here,” Graham growled, his eyes flashing with a hint of amber.

“I can smell them.”

Bruce cursed under his breath.

Mishka’s heart raced as she peered out the window into the gathering darkness.

Two shadowy figures prowled at the edge of the property, their movements unnaturally fluid.

“We need to act now,” Bruce said, his voice low and urgent.

“Graham, can you hold them off?”

The model nodded, already unbuttoning his shirt.

“I’ll buy you some time, but be quick.”

As Graham rushed out, his form already beginning to shift, Bruce grabbed Mishka’s hand.

“Come on, we need to get to the safe room.”

They raced through the mansion’s winding corridors, the sounds of snarling and crashing coming from outside.

Mishka’s breath came in short gasps, fear and adrenaline coursing through her veins.

Just as they reached a hidden panel in the library, a window shattered behind them.

Lucinda’s voice, dripping with malice, called out, “Oh Bruce, darling!

Why don’t you introduce us to your little songbird?”

Bruce shoved Mishka behind a bookcase and turned to face the intruder.

“Lucinda, this ends now.

You and Jean need to back off.”

A cruel laugh echoed through the room.

“Or what, Bruce?

You’ll setq your pet model on us again?

Face it, you’re outnumbered.”

Mishka’s mind raced.

Their carefully laid plan was falling apart before it even began.

She looked around desperately for something, anything that could help.

Her eyes fell on an antique silver letter opener on a nearby desk.

Remembering the legends about silver and werewolves, she grabbed it, her hands shaking.

Bruce was backing up slowly, trying to keep Lucinda’s attention away from Mishka’s hiding spot.

“You don’t want to do this, Lucinda.

Think about the consequences.”

“The only consequence I care about is having you, Bruce,” Lucinda snarled, her features beginning to elongate as she started to transform.

In that moment, Mishka made a split-second decision.

She stepped out from behind the bookcase, the silver letter opener held out in front of her like a tiny sword.

“Leave him alone!” she shouted, her voice surprisingly steady.

Lucinda’s eyes widened in surprise, then narrowed with hatred.

“You dare challenge me, little human?”

Bruce looked at Mishka in horror.

“Mishka, no!”

But it was too late.

Lucinda lunged forward, her transformation complete.

Mishka braced herself, the letter opener clutched tightly in her trembling hands.

Just as Lucinda was about to reach her, a blur of motion knocked the werewolf aside.

Graham, in his wolf form, stood protectively in front of Mishka, his fur bristling.

The room descended into chaos as the two wolves clashed, snarling and snapping.

Bruce rushed to Mishka’s side, pulling her towards the hidden panel.

“We need to go, now!” he urged.

As they slipped into the secret passage, Mishka caught one last glimpse of the battle raging in the library.

Graham was holding his own, but Jean had joined the fray, making it two against one.

The panel slid shut behind them, muffling the sounds of the fight.

In the dim light of the hidden corridor, Bruce pulled Mishka close.

“Are you alright?” he asked, his voice shaking.

Mishka nodded, still clutching the letter opener.

“What about Graham?

We can’t just leave him!”

Bruce’s expression was pained.

“He knew the risks.

Our priority now is keeping you safe.

Once we’re in the safe room, I can call for backup.”

As they hurried down the passage, Mishka’s mind whirled with questions and fears.

How had their plan gone so wrong so quickly?

What would happen to Graham?
