120: Living with Regrets 120: Living with Regrets “Are you really committed to let Bruce go just like that?
After all the years of passionately chasing after him and dreaming about a future with him?” Theresa, Jean’s blonde wolf friend asked as they sat in the lounge, at the home of Jean’s aunt, looking at the view through the windows.
“I had a moment of regret and so did Lucinda.
I don’t know what made us so reckless because, by ruining Bruce’s mansion we were setting ourselves up as serious enemies.
That’s surely not the way to get into anyone’s good books,” Jean responded with her mouth corners turned down miserably.
“It’s gonna take a while but when you’re finally done with restoring his mansion you might have a chance with him again.
Why would you just give up?
That’s not how I know you,” Theresa continued as she gave a speculative glance at her friend.
Jean sat quietly contemplating Theresa’s words for a while.
“You do remember that due to me and Lucinda’s madness we are both in trouble with the leader of the clan?
And on top of that I have to tread very lightly here in my aunt’s home too.
She’s very upset about me not following her advice and mellowing down about Bruce,” she responded in a serious tone as she stared down unseeing at the rug on the floor.
“Oh, yes.
Not to mention what your mother will do when she finds out about this mad mess that you and Lucinda created,” Theresa added as she observed her friend with a look of speculation in her eyes as she twirled a strand of blonde hair around her finger.
“Now see!
I’m in deep trouble on every side.
I shouldn’t have allowed Lucinda to lure me into that trap,” Jean grunted as she began to pace the room with the slight breeze from the open window blowing her auburn hair around her face.
To Theresa she appeared to be every part the wild-tempered redhead that they all had known for ages.
“You?
Can you be tempted into being highly temperamental?
Isn’t that what you do naturally?
I can’t imagine Lucinda being the one to lead you into an explosion of rage!” she laughed at the top of her voice.
“Oh, really?
So, you’re saying that I’m the one who does not consider the repercussions of my actions?” Jean retorted, glaring at her with her nostrils flaring.
“Well, you didn’t stop Lucinda, so… yes, I would say that you were both just acted in the heat of the moment.
But why get so extreme?
Now you have to rebuild a mansion,” Theresa replied, shaking her head in disapproval.
She was not going to allow Jean’s temper to overcome her today.
Jean stared at her and held her breath, pursing her lips together in an attempt to hold back her words.
“Anyway, what I am only trying to say is that you shouldn’t give in to Mishka.
She’s a human, after all.
How can we expect her to be a mate for Bruce?
You can’t allow that.
He’s falling in love and forgetting his principles,” Theresa began again.
She stood up from her chair and began to pace up and down as well.
“Do you really think that he’s seriously in love?
Can’t it just be a passing fantasy?” Jean asked more to herself than to Theresa as she poked a finger into her cheek, trying to imagine the situation for herself.
“Well, when last was he this taken up by a woman?
I can’t even remember,” Theresa responded as she plopped herself down onto a couch.
“We can discuss this later.
Let’s go out and have dinner at a restaurant with some of the other ladies.
I’m not in the mood for another lecture from my aunt at the dinner table tonight,” Jean suggested after checking the time on her mobile phone.
“Okay, if that’s what you want.
Maybe you need a break for tonight at least.
Then we can discuss this plan with the others so that you can change your strategy and try working at your goal in another way.
We can get tips from the others,” Theresa responded with an excited grin on her face as she grabbed her coat from the back of an armchair.
“But none of you are going to talk me into making a fool of myself,” Jean responded as she tilted her chin before following her friend out towards the foyer.
They were both shocked when none other than the tall and elegant blond male model walked into the lounge, followed by the maid.
“Miss Jean, he insisted on coming in without waiting for me to announce him,” the maid tried to explain with nervously fluttering hands as she stared up at Graham’s back in open admiration.
“Yes, I can see that he totally overwhelmed you,” Jean responded as she stared at Graham in shock.
Was he here for his personal revenge after the way that she and Lucinda had attacked him at Bruce’s mansion?
She and Lucinda have not formally apologized to him yet.
He looked a whole lot better though, as she quickly glanced at him from head to toe.
“It’s one of the models, isn’t it?
I think I saw you in the woods with Bruce one day,” Theresa grinned as she offered him her hand.
“Oh, I won’t know about that.
I mean, I wasn’t aware of anyone else when I was in the woods recently,” Graham lied while he kept his eyes on Jean, taking in her tense attitude.
He did not want to explain what he and Bruce were discussing in the woods on that particular day.
It involved seducing Jean and that was not a good topic at the moment.
“Has the pack leader sent him here to dish out more punishment onto me?” Jean wondered as she also reached out her hand with a tight smile.
“Welcome, please have a seat.
We were actually on our way out but we are have all the time in the world for you,” Jean stated with the same stiff smile as she returned to her chair.
“Well, actually I came in person because we’re having some problems with the restoration of Bruce’s mansion,” Graham responded as soon as he was seated.
He glanced at both ladies as he spoke.
Jean’s eyes stretched very wide when she heard his statement.
Would there be further punishment?
“Oh?
Is there a serious problem?” she asked as she narrowed her eyes, trying to detect Graham’s mood.
“Well, some of the supplies for building further are more expensive than the estimate made by the architect.
So, I came to talk to you in person because Bruce is too busy on the construction site himself,” Graham responded as he looked around the luxurious lounge.
“You found the place easily.
Did someone direct you here?” Theresa asked as she suddenly remembered the incident about the secret admirer who had sent flowers and perfume to Jean a while ago and then disappeared just as suddenly as he had appeared in their lives.
Graham seemed to be taken by surprise by the question.
It seemed as if she had hit the nail on the head.
Was Graham the one who had played with the powerful Jean’s emotions even back then?
Jean turned and looked at Theresa with her mouth open in surprise.
Then she turned to look at Graham also.
