123: Sharing the News 123: Sharing the News “Uhmm, there’s something on my mind that I have to clear up with Mishka,” Bruce remarked in response to Graham’s question.
“I hope everything is alright?
Her grandmother hasn’t come up with new tricks and schemes has she?” Graham asked with his eyes fixed onto Bruce’s face.
“No, nothing new in terms of separating myself and Mishka, but she seems to have gained an acceptance of me out of the blue.
She even wants to do a partner project with me,” Bruce responded in a low tone of voice.
“No way!
Then she must be up to something,” Graham responded, sitting very upright now.
“Be very careful and don’t fall for anything she says.
Watch your back better than ever when an enemy wants to be friends.
She can only be at her most dangerous now.”
“Yes and I don’t think that Mishka believes her new attitude either.
She must want something from us and we must be very careful to protect ourselves and our assets from her,” Bruce agreed.
“So, you and Mishka have already agreed not to accept her gesture of friendship?”
“Not officially, but yes, we have discussed the issue and we know that she wants something from us,” Bruce agreed.
“But, what can that be?
Can she actually be interested in your fortune?” Graham asked in a low tone after glancing around at the people sitting at other tables.
“If she is then she’s only greedy because she has her own grand assets already according to Mishka.
She only enjoys running Mishka’s household instead of going back to her own home,” Bruce responded.
“So then, she doesn’t need your money.
Can it be prestige?
Is she suddenly realizing that she should be proud to be Mishka’s grandmother because Mishka might become very famous?” Graham asked with a deep frown.
“It could be that, but I’m going to discuss everything in private with Mishka this afternoon,” Bruce responded.
He didn’t want to tell Graham or anyone else about the powerful moonstone which was in Mishka’s possession.
It must be the only reason that Myrtle wants to be friendly towards him.
Maybe she knew even more about how it worked than what he and Mishka did.
He would not allow her to get her hands onto it.
He also had to find out what she did to Rose’s son.
Graham checked his mobile phone for the time.
“Gosh!
I guess we’ll have to discuss this later.
I think after you’ve spoken to Mishka because I have to get to town now for a fashion shoot?” he suggested as he hastily wiped his mouth with a napkin.
“Okay then.
You go to your shoot and I will fill you in on whatever news comes up,” Bruce agreed.
He was glad that Graham had an appointment to rush off to.
This would keep him from confiding too much in Graham at this point in time.
When Bruce and Mishka had a late lunch in a tucked away restaurant in the city later on he could not wait to share his news.
“You say that you have news about Rose?
How strange?
When did you become interested in Grandma’s friends?” Mishka responded with a giggle and an amused glint in her eyes before she took a bite into her pizza.
“It’s highly confidential,” Bruce responded just above a whisper.
His serious tone wiped the smile off Mishka’s face.
“Oh?
So, it’s something serious?” she asked with her eyes wide from surprise.
“Yes.
I went to see some members of the pack to get advice before approaching the pack leader about banning Jean from my house,” Bruce began.
“Oh, yes, that’s very important.
You should ban her and her friends from your mansion,” Mishka agreed in-between munching on her pizza.
She was enjoying the junk food because she generally ate only healthy foods at home and at the office.
She had been there for the day helping the staff with updates on recent production events since she had been away in Europe.
“Instead I received some interesting information about events that have been kept secret in the village for a long time,” Bruce continued with a grave look on his face.
He kept his eyes on his lasagna while talking.
At this, Mishka put the next slice of pizza back onto her plate.
She had been about to take a good bite out of it.
“Do these secrets involve Aunt Rose?” she asked with her voice lowered as she leaned closer to Bruce across the table.
“Yes, well, apparently her son disappeared one day and after a few years, her daughter-in-law also,” Bruce responded with his gaze on Mishka’s face at this point.
“Oh…I know about her son’s disappearance.
He was a Naval officer, but I don’t think he disappeared at sea.
Rose never said anything about her daughter-in-law.
Can she have something to do with her husband’s disappearance then?” Mishka responded, frowning as she tried to think.
“Well, maybe Rose was still too much in shock about her son’s disappearance to still worry about his wife.
I think that’s natural,” Bruce responded before paying attention to his food.
“I suppose her daughter-in-law had to go back to where she came from and carry on with the rest of her life,” Mishka mused with a pensive look on her face.
“I think so too, but the reason that they told me about all this is because they think that your grandmother is involved with everything that happened.”
“Oh?
But how, when she and Rose are such good friends and they go back for decades?” Mishka asked.
She narrowed her eyes as she tried to think about the reason for all this.
“Easily!
By pretending to be her closest friend and confidant.
Rose seems to be so innocent and trusting.”
“But for such a long time?
Couldn’t she have had moments of doubt at some point?” Mishka asked, trying hard to think why Myrtle would want to harm her own friend’s family.
“Well, according to this couple, there were some differences between Myrtle and Rose’s son.
She disagreed about something that he was involved in,” Bruce explained.
“Wow!
Something so serious that she would make him disappear?” Mishka asked, her eyes wide from shock and terror.
“Was he perhaps involved in something top secret which was a threat or a big challenge to my Grandma?”
