76: Closing in on the wolves 76: Closing in on the wolves Theresa stared back at Mishka with her mouth half open.
She was about to say something to Gillian when she recognized Mishka.
“You?” Mishka gasped.
Theresa stepped back with a confused and frightened look in her eyes.
Meeting up with Mishka in the woods had clearly been the last thing on her mind.
“You’ve been following me around with your car all this time!
I recognize you!” Mishka yelled out.
She stepped forward towards Theresa, but Gillian reached out and grabbed her arm, holding her back.
“Why are you doing this?
Who told you to follow me because I definitely don’t even know you?” Mishka asked, glaring at Theresa in anger.
“I’m sure that it’s her.
That wolf which was in the woods on that day.
She came back today, so, she’s used to hanging out here and today she’s got her friends here as well,” Mishka told herself inwardly.
Mishka watched Theresa’s eyes change from green to gold before she turned around and began to run.
“Hey, you don’t have to run, Theresa!
Stay here and answer her!” One of Theresa’s friends called after her.
Theresa turned around and gave them all a brief glance before running off again, disappearing into the woods.
“So, that’s her name, hey?” Mishka asked.
“Now I’m sure she’s going to meet up with us again, but in her wolf form, isn’t that so?” she continued, addressing the brunette who had called after Theresa.
“Wait, calm down.
Don’t be provoked by her,” Gillian pleaded as she held on to Mishka’s arm.
“A wolf form?
Do they turn into wolves?” Jim asked with his eyes large from shock and fear.
He stepped back a few paces, making a distance between himself and the strange women.
“I most certainly think they are.
I’m almost sure that it’s the same Theresa who was a white wolf that day in the woods.
She didn’t seem to want me around then.
So, now I wonder why she’s following me around,” Mishka spat out as she glared at Theresa’s three remaining friends.
“I had no idea that you girls knew about such strange creatures,” Jim remarked as he frowned at the three strangers.
“There’s nothing wrong with us.
What are you talking about?” One of the strangers asked.
“Oh, so you’re going to play the denial game,” Mishka responded as she gave each one of the wolf girls a piercing stare.
“We’re having a picnic and so you guys came over to cause a ruckus.
We can lay charges against you,” the brunette lady warned with her hands on her hips.
“Excuse me?
Aren’t you all stalkers, or is Theresa stalking on your behalf?
Mishka asked, shaking Gillian’s grip lose and stepping closer to the group of strangers.
“Leave them alone if they turn into wolves.
Let’s just go home,” Jim remarked hastily.
“I’m not staying here for a minute longer.
This is weird, come along,” he added before turning around and heading back along the way that they had come.
“We are the ones who have the right to lay charges because your friend is stalking our friend,” Gillian remarked.
“You don’t have evidence, do you?” one of the other ladies remarked with an insolent tilt of her chin.
“We will get it soon if your friend does not stop stalking me,” Mishka responded in a hot tempered tone.
“Oh, the woods are big enough for everyone,” the brunette responded with her arms folded across her chest defiantly.
“Well, all I can say is that if your friend, Theresa is planning on going around the woods to wait and attack us in a wolf form she won’t find us unarmed,” Mishka remarked before turning around to walk away.
“Oh, well we don’t need weapons to fight.
We’re powerful without them,” the brunette remarked.
“Oh, so you are wolves,” Gillian remarked as she turned around to face the group again.
“Whatever, I’m just saying that we’re not afraid of your weapons,” the brunette responded.
“And we have our own authorities who will deal with you if you attack us,” she added with a pout.
“Well, we also have hidden powers, even if we’re not wolves,” Mishka responded without stopping to think.
“What’s that?” another wolf lady responded as they all looked at each other with frowns on their brows.
“We can tell your plans before you act them out,” Mishka responded.
“That doesn’t help you in a fight,” the brunette remarked with her chin raised.
“Oh, you don’t even know what we’re talking about.
You will find out more about us if Theresa doesn’t stop following me,” Mishka responded with a sneer before turning around to walk away.
“I can’t believe it.
I just threatened them with my grandmother’s superpowers,” Mishka told herself as she walked along behind Gillian who was following Jim.
She turned around after a few steps to make sure that the female wolves were not following her.
Myrtle looked into her crystal ball and stared at the two women again.
Why is the red-haired one more upset than the blonde?” she asked herself.
“No, it can only be because of the man that Rose also saw.
Now, where is he?
Where is he hiding himself so I don’t see him?” Myrtle asked into the empty bedroom.
The door was locked and she was all by herself, after getting rid of Clara.
Myrtle then closed her eyes and began to meditate.
She chanted her charm verses softly, not loudly like in the basement where she was sure that she could not be heard.
After a while, Myrtle breathed slowly in and out before looking into the crystal ball again.
It was hazy at first until she saw him clearly.
“He’s handsome alright.
But it’s not as if he’s the last of the most handsome men on earth, so why are they fighting over him so fiercely?” Myrtle asked herself.
“But then, maybe he’s really powerful.
Like very rich.
Maybe even a royal, or what?
A clan leader or chief?” she asked herself with her eyes narrowed.
She stared at the man more closely.
“If I see him or those two ladies at the ball on Saturday I will find someone to follow them and find out where and how they live.
There’s something really strange about them.
I will have to find out what it is,” Myrtle muttered to herself as she stared into the crystal ball.
“Ah, there they are.
All three of them now,” Myrtle remarked with a satisfied grin on her face.
“No, he is not on their side.
It’s just as Rose said.
So, what kind of fight are they having against him while they’re also fighting over him?” she asked herself.
Myrtle stared again, but nothing changed.
At first the ladies were furious with each other, then they were furious with the man.
I will have to find out what’s really happening,” Myrtle remarked at the empty room.
She then replaced the crystal ball into its box and hid it in the back of one of her cupboards, behind her clothes, where nobody could see it.
“Let me find out from the cat, if only I can locate him,” Myrtle told herself as she locked the wardrobe door and placed the key in a bottom drawer, underneath her jewellery boxes.
She then walked out of her bedroom door, heading straight for the nursery in the basement.
“I have to find the cat urgently,” she murmured to herself.
